A teacher in North Dakota has been suspended without pay for showing a video to an eighth-grade class that talked about salvation through Jesus Christ.

Michael Nider is facing a three-week suspension after parents complained about a video he showed during a health class. School officials in Bismarck say Nider showed a video that asked, "What if you had a friend who died without knowing Jesus as their personal savior?"

Dr. Ed Gamble, president of the Southern Baptist Association of Christian Schools, says in a politically correct culture where teachers are allowed to promote homosexuality or Islam to young pupils, no one should be surprised at the anti-Christian bias in the government-run school system.

"There's a growing hostility toward Christianity in the culture at large, and you're naturally going to see that reflected in the culture's number-one engine -- the public school. It's inevitable," he says. "Why would we be surprised? It's been coming for 50 years. And now that the fruit's on the tree, we're all deeply concerned about it; but we've been watching the tree grow for 50 years."

In addition to the unpaid leave, Nider will be forced to take a sensitivity training class and write letters of apology to parents and students.

how right. It is the disasterous result of people kick God out of school.

Apparently every religion, every view is welcomed EXCEPT Christianity. They welcomed Islam, force teaching homesexuality, but Christianity is out. Anyone who dare to teach it and against the big system will be silenced.

Mark my word, it won't be long before Chrisitianity ruled as illegal, and any Christian can be arrested, jailed and killed, RIGHT HERE in US. All they need to do is to take the steps a little further.

The government totally controls our schools now.   Used to be that the local area through their elected representatives the school board did thecirriculum and everything involved.   Then the government started infusing money into these districts, and along with that their directives.

We just flat took their money and gave our children to the government.

They will never rule Christianity illegal in the United States.  The citizens of the U.S. would never stand for it and they know that.  I however think the citizens should start a movement to see that Christmas break is reinstituted in the schools and the teachers union put in their place.  The sooner the better!  The parents need to take the schools back and see to it that the right curriculum is being taught.  States need to stop depending on the federal government for funds for the schools and go back to states funding their own schools.  There would be a dramatic change in what is being taught if that were to happen.   They would go back to teaching what should be taught.

Well, don't be so sure,. lady Jane.

As there are more liberals and atheists out there, socialism will be more popular in US. You know, free stuffs from the gov (health care, education, welfare...), and people love free stuffs. They never think of the price they have to pay behind. They give so much power to the gov that it will eventually become a totalitarian nation.

Those guys and ACLU are making every effort to kick God and any reference to Him in school and any place out there, also in Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter. They will sue, or threaten to sue anyone or any originization that has anything to do with God, and the average people will back off.

When this trend goes on, how much time needed for the ultimate nightmare to occur? Yeah, we got constitution, but we also got liberal judges helping to destroy it (like to rule bible and prayer are unconsititutional in school). How much longer before they rule bible and prayer are unconsititutional elsewhere(aka make Christianity illegal, it is already illegal in schools)? The bad news is most people today are ignorant about it, thus not to treasure the freedom it gives until it's too late.

This has the smell of the American Communist Liberals Union. Some people are going to try to make Christianity illegal and that group are the atheists and the Liberals of our own Congress. Showing the video of Jesus is a very courageous thing and I would of done the same. The law of sepaation of church and state does and I repeat--DOES NOT EXIST!! Pat Robertson said that once. It states in the Constitution that religion should be NOT to interfered with by the government.

Three distinct groups have the anti Christian agenda in our schools.   The NEA, the Communists, and the Moslems.  I'd say Congress but their mostly ignorant bunglers.  They can't spell religion must less be religious.

lol, yup

they worship money and power

Also, religion or religious  is meaningless in general, the real matter is whether you have a personal relationship with Christ, and if you trust and obey him.
