Possibly unknown to many FireSociety members is the fact that the FireSociety staff was kind enough to set up a private topic forum for Religious Discussions. Although I don't consider Christianity to be a religion, per se, I would not be opposed to visiting this private forum for further elucidation on the topic of Christianity and the Scriptures. All one must do to have access to this private forum is to email the FireSociety staff and request access. I have already done so.

I don't think people really want to learn more about the scriptures.  I think they just want to convince people that theirs is the only interpretation of scriptures and the nature of Christ.

That may be the case with some, FireWing, but I'm of the impression that there are some, if not many, that seek a clearer understanding of the message contained with the Scriptures. Insofar as personal interpretations are concerned, humility must always precede learning. No human being is omniscient.

I would hope that would be the case, Irish, but from what I've observed here, I don't know.  Humility, an open heart, and prayer, yes.  "Behold, I stand at the door and knock........"Rev. 3:20

Thank you for that information.

It has become increasingly more aware, and abruptly at times, why the old saying about discussion of politics and religion is regarded as a taboo.  Everyone seems to find a niche and they don't desire to be rattled or displaced from it. God's word is LIVING and although unchanging I'm sure has different applications for different times and situations.  He's the only one that has a monopoly on His word.  May we all be blessed to find how we fit into His will and continue to do so.

We have the memoirs of James Madison, on the writing of the US Constitution and the "freedom of religion" part.  He says that it "was not meant to include Mohameddanism, or other Eastern religions".

Then we have goofball Bush and his saying that "we worship the same God.  Allah is just another name for the same God".  As if to justify the false religion of islam, which calls for the subjugation of all others, including the ability to lie and kill for islam as being "holy".

It would be nice to think that God just has a bunch of names, and that any way you get to Him or worship Him is fine, whether through Jesus, Mohammed, or Hare Krishna, etc.

I believe Madison was correct, and that islam and other Eastern religions/cults do not belong in the US, and are against our very core principles based on Judeo/Christianity and Deism.  All they are is trojan horses with an end in the destruction of America and her culture, and in cahoots with others of the same bent--the communists and Mexicans.

mgopilot,  You've got to remember that there were no jet airliners, no automobiles, and no electricity, except lightning, in Madisons time.  Heck they didn't even have toilet paper.  The world is significantly smaller.  Whereas it took 80 days + to travel around the world, i.e., to get your message sent then, it now only takes a micro second.  Cultures were seperated by distances and their beliefs remained as such too.

I believe this thread was started to direct us  to a religious discussion and not to bash our President even if we don't agree with him.  We cannot return to Madison times.  If he had grown up in our times we can only speculate what he would be writting.  Even so, it's God's word and it's application that we should be focusing on, and as individuals first.  His will be done.  Can you or anyone say 100% that His will does not include the Muslim?   The radical muderous ones probably yes, and then it probably does include them in that they are to be annihilated, decimated, and removed, and at best converted.  Of course that may be extended to include anyone that is against Him.

Also a little off topic (I guess), where did this usage of "avatar" come from as I believe it would mean a rather special being or incarnation in Hindu thought and observations.

My belief's came from growing up in church with my mom,and later in life 1975 I found my Christian belief, non-denom., King James Version, and the Strong's exhaustive concordance, I want to know what gets me to heaven or hell, I have found many seem to get the ending in the middle of the Bible, the Gospels. I always with any book go to the last chapter to get the answer,( some believe "once saved, always saved"), I do not, and I am not saying I'm right on it, it's a strong feeling I have, and verses seem to tell me that, I really do not care if someone's gay, or whatever(hurting a child does get to me)but they should not force it on me or mine, leave the kids alone, when they reach maturity there free to make there own choice, but satan doen not work that way.
