The Operation Safe America FREE Report put out by the Patriot Union of America (PUA www.patriotunion.org) was created before illegal immigration jumped into the mainstream media and domain. It has more information, refereces, links and sidebar sources than I have ever seen in any publication or place on the Net. It even covers details about Mexico itself. It's a 250 page PDF and well worth keeping on the bedstand to read every night - a real eye opener! (http://www.patriotunion.org/docs_and_reports/in-house/OperationSafeAmerica.pdf)
Further, if you have not gotton up to speed on the BTAI Act Proposal put out by the PUA, then you need to take the time and do it and soon. (www.patriotunion.org/reform.htm)
The BTAI proposal is the only grassroots drafted and backed bill proposal circulating in Congress that would: 1) remove 92% of all illegal aliens from US soil within 16 months or less and permanently end illegal immigration, 2) secure our borders within 6 months (with 99% security integrity), 3) make the US 1000% safer from domestic terrorism within 3 years, 4) save US taxpayers over $1 trillion per year (over 30 years) to pay for an "amnesty" (refer to: http://www.patriotunion.org/news/by_issue/immigration/could_amnesty_bankrupt_economy.htm) The PUA has a petition on their Web site so you can show your support (results go direclty to Congress). You should spread the word about BTAI like your life depended on it (because it might).
Accoridng to the Operation Safe America report, illegal immigration is costing US taxpayers over $200 billion annually! I don't know about you, but I could think of a lot of things US citizens could do with $200 billion a year!
According to the "amnesty" article above - see link) an amnesty of 7 to 20 million illegal aliens could severely devalue the US dollar irreversibly to such a point that within 10 years or less the entire US economy would be forced to collapse! It's hard to fathom but the facts cited in the article leave little doubt.
We all need to wake up! Illegal immigration is not an immigration issue - it is a national security issue! If we sanction this illegal behavior, we'll have to pay for it - and the cost it our country!
This sounds like what several of us here at FS have been discussing. There is power in numbers, and if all the various like groups had an umbrella where our voices would be heard in DC as one, we'd be much more effective. I've spent quite a while going through the website trying to learn more. Can you tell me how long you've been involved with the PUA or how strong the membership is?
i went to the site and tried to sign the petition but got an error message. you better get that fixed or no one is going to think it is a serious web site or a real petition.

I was thinking about that a few minutes ago! Wouldn't it be great if the PUA had severl spokemen in DC for the cause... also Sessions, Vitter and others that are TRULY opposed to amnesty? And what about Dobbs? If this org. is serious, it could be a very good thing to help it grow!
marcele said: I don't trust the BTAI Act. How many "laws" are already routinely ignored and gotten away with? __Oh, unless you happen to be a U.S. citizen.
I didn't look into that. I was mainly looking over the whole site. I'll have to check it out.
I wasn't expecting such an response. I never got alerted in my e-mail folder. Sorry... I've been really busy simply to check in... okay, to some of your questions...
I've been involved with the PUA for over six months. They're growing and doing what they call their "national roll out." I don;t know how many members but I know they're growing quickly. I do know they're working on Web upgrades and that the Web site has a few bumps in it from time to time and that the future system they have planned is something right out of the NASA handbook---they're going to make a certified national voting system online for all the PUA members/voters---way too cool---it's for the national referendum system so voters can make laws at the federal level (someday hopefully). I think they have a lot of great projects and ideas and some of them are going to take a long time to get up and running but at least someone is doing it.
I will tell them about the petition form not working--that's not good! I signed it so I know it was working. I'm sure they'll get it fixed ASAP. Their Web site is big and getting bigger and working out some bugs---they switched it over to this new version not too long ago so it has a lot of areas (poltical issues) that are not filled our in the research sections yet, but the volunteers are getting it done little by little. Maybe the switch messed up the petition?
The PUA has only been around for 1-1/2 years so they're not going to be giant and perfect yet like say AARP or some other big org. My volunteer job is to help them spread the word about who they are and what they do and their projects---I'm not too good at it but at least I try. They need more volunteers so if any of you guys want to help, let me know or just e-mail them.
Most of their focus has been on research, news reporting, and fighting illegal immigration and getting Congress to think in new directions and consider the facts while they build up their systems and memberships. I got a welcome e-mail from Xelan when I signed up, he's the founder, and he said something like they've got a million things to do and not enough hands to do it---I guess they need more volunteers, etc.
As for BTAI, they've been trying to get help in spreading the word. They've been sending out press releases but I haven't seen any big news stories on BTAI - let me know if you do. I do know they sent a PR to Lou Dobbs so I don;t know why he's not barking about it. Maybe it's too controversial to want to "deport" illegal aliens under a systematic approach??? Maybe he's doesn't want to get too controversial??? Why don;t you e-mail Dobbs and ask him what's up??? And any other reporters for that matter???
As for the comment about a new BTAI law just being another law that never gets enforced... that kind of thinking worries me. Are we giving up? The way I see it, it's best if we get the law made before someone gets elected that supports "amnesty" and then at least they can not come back and try to make an amnesty. Best defense is an offense, that sort of thing.
If you read BTAI, I think it's set up so that once it becomes law, the government has 90 days to get the temporary processing centers set-up, then the temporary amnesty begins and the 16 month clock starts ticking down so the illegal aliens either leave and get their amnesty on the way out, or they get slapped with a felony and subject to all their other criminal violations to boot.
Some of my friends don;t like the idea that BTAI will give illegal aliens a little money to get resettled in their home country, but I found out tax payers will save over $50 billion in the first year just from the illegal alien impacts on our system being gone! And then over $200 billion a year savings after that!
My biggest reason for supporting BTAI is that 1) it eiliminates an amnesty and the possibility to us taxpayers being hit with a $1 trillion per year price tag to pay for it (as I have discussed before and given links to the facts, etc.) 2) it will free up millions of high paying (or once high paying) jobs in the country and boost our economy as citizens rush in to fill them. I'm not talking about fastfood jobs---I'm talking aobut jobs in the film industry, construction, oil rigging, you can almost name the industry and find an illegal alien working in it and devaluing wages for us all---I know most of you know that so I'll shut up.
Lastly, I read the BTAI twice and all the articles and stuff related to it on the Web links. I think there is a new forum on the PUA site where there is a place for BTAI discussion but I don;t think anyone really knows about the forum so there's no dialogue yet. I went there on another subject. Your questions might get better detailed responses over there where the PUA staff can see them and respond--worth a try anyway---or you can e-mail them (info ~ patriotunion .org). Just look for the forum link at the top of the main page (if I remember right).
Okay, guys and gals, I have to run. I'm going on vacation so I might not be able to log on for a while---we'll see. In the mean time, you should just go read the stuff and BTAI and if you can afford the $12 just join and try to support the PUA and keep them growing. We really need something like it and they're well on their way so I was sold long ago (I joined and donated $100 - and I'll probably donate another $100 before the year's out--I don;t want them to fail and I can afford it and I know it takes a lot of money to keep these things going.) My viewpoint is that I'd rather give a few hundred away to orgs that are doing good in the fight to stop an amnesty than pay for the cost of the amnesty (my costs jump to over $120,00 if amnesty goes through---that is, if our country survives such a massive new debt of $36 trillion over 30 years---and I think my country's worth a few clams to try and save, don;t you?) Besides that... I believe that if all the illegal aliens leave, my wages will rise--less labor in the market, higher wages for all of us---I get my donations back 100 fold! that's worth a roll of the dice on the PUA in my book (I know they can't do it alone and I got sick of climbing the walls and complaining and not doing anything proactive so here I am. You'll have to decide for yourself but I can tell you one thing for sure - I feel a hell of lot better about my self for participating - imagine how good I will feel if the PUA gets BTAI passed into law and I helped them do it! We can only dream... not a bad dream though!)
Roco, thanks so much for the response! I am going to join PUA and do what I can to help. I believe we need to have an umbrella group for all the other groups to join together on. There IS strength in numbers, and if their requirement is volunteer time to grow I think it's great. We can still support the individual groups as we've signed up on all these other sites and nothing is required except to read our alerts, send faxes and sign petitions and take personal action. If one HUGE group were taking collaberative action as well, the impact would be much more powerful.
I noticed that Judicial Watch and NumbersUSA are listed as sponsors under their immigration issues. With those endorcements, I think they could really catch on. I'm very excited about this.
You have a great Thanksgiving and thanks again for the information.
I'm headed out the door but I thought I'd give you a heads up...
I contact PUA and they fixed the Petition and the News Letter sign-up and said to tell you guys thanks for the alert! They've been working on the database and somehow screwed up one of the settings and didn;t realize it.
SPEAKENGL:
Your welcome! And I hope you join. One of the things that gets me so excited about the PUA is the umbrella concept that is trying to bring all the other groups, orgs. people together so they can pack some real power when they hit Congress and the WHite House with their demands. If a a million people complain, Congress just laughs... but if 10 or 50 million tell them what to do... they run and do it or else! That's a real turn on for me... I'm so sick of these clowns just doing whatver they want and not listening to us because they think we're not organized enough to do them any harm.
You don;t have to become a volunteer to join the PUA and support it---I joined because me and my friends were talking about the idea of a giant umbrella org a long time ago that allowed us all to work together from time to time on major projects because I've always known you need one of two things to change Washington - either lots of money (i.e. special interests) or lots of people standing together.
I think that if enough averag Joes get involved, then laege groups will get involved, then large organizations will get involved and pretty soon we have what PUA has been trying to give us - a sort of national online democracy where we as a group of voters chose what issues we want to go after and even what solutions we want to push onto Congress - as a group - not just some bunch of cigar smoking dudes telling us an an organization how this and that is going to be. I love the idea of us all voting and chosing the ideas as a majority - that's getting a lot closer to demorcracy, no? Okay, sorry, I'll get off my soap box...
I hope I have been helpful to at least some of you.
See you next week! (I might find a WiFI near the campsite and sneak in for a peek, we'll see).
