Santa Claus outraged by 'ho ho ho' ban

By Janet Fyfe-Yeomans and Amanda Grant                  Santa

November 15, 2007

HE  is an unlikely revolutionary but this Christmas, Santa is a rebel with a claus.

He is having the last laugh on political correctness - and it's a great big fat belly laugh.

Santas across Sydney are rebelling against attempts to ban their traditional greeting of "ho, ho, ho" in favour of "ha, ha, ha".

Recruitment firm Westaff - which supplies hundreds of Santas across the country - has told its trainees that the "ho ho ho" phrase could frighten children and could even be derogatory to women.

Two Santa hopefuls reportedly quit the course because of the hullabaloo of the ho, ho, ho.

One would-be Santa has told The Daily Telegraph he was taught not to use "ho, ho, ho" because it was too close to the American slang for prostitute. He also quit.

"Gimme a break," Julie Gale, who runs the campaign against sexualising children called Kids Free 2B Kids, said.

"We are talking about little kids who do not understand that "ho, ho, ho" has any other connotation and nor should they.

"Leave Santa alone."

Australian Childhood Foundation chief executive officer Dr Joe Tucci said it was the latest example of political correctness gone mad.

"There is no stronger tradition for children than Santa's ho, ho, ho," Dr Tucci said.

It has been announced that there will only be 49 states represented at the Miss America pageant this year.

No one wants to be known as Miss Idaho.

I don't think it's the ho ho ho that frightens wee ones--I think it's the guy in the suit.  Anyhow, if your kids are scared of him, just don't go to see him--plain and simple----I personally like to sit on Santa's lap.

I can't hardly type from shaking my head and laughing at how truly over-the-top ridiculous this is!

I knew it would eventually happen, so LET US DESIGNATE AND DEDICATE THIS NON-ISSUE AS:

Didn't you people know? No more Ho's allowed in Australia ! The politically incorrect, rebel rouser Santa Claus has been speading his dirty work again. As he flies around the world on Christmas eve shouting Ho, Ho Ho, the liberals of this world are having a en mass nervous breakdown.

I heard today that in Fort Collins Colorado the ACLU and city are BANNING any color lights because it represents a CHRISTIAN HOLIDAY- CHRISTMAS!

They are not allowed to display anything that would denote that it is a Christian Holiday...no red or green lights, no blue lights....no nativity display- not even Santa.

I need EVERYONE to do me a HUGE favor....this year- lets pound the main ACLU office with Christmas cards....just pelt them with cards with Nativity scenes, the baby Jesus and EVERYTHING CHRISTIAN!

Will post the address shortly...be sure to mail early and if you are able mail more than one so they receive a MOUNTAIN of CHRISTMAS cards!

Does anyone like that idea?

Sounds good to me Biotech Babe. I do not and never have sent out generic cards at Christmastime. It is and always will be a religious celebration to me and no amount of politically correct foolishness will change that view. I also like to use religious seals and return address labels all year long. I believe it is my right.

But if they do want to do away with the reason for the holiday, get rid of the whole holiday and just celebrate it with your church. That means no more expensive CHRISTMAS shopping, no more MASS MAILINGS of Christmas cards, no MASS TRAVELING around the country - we would save a bundle and the corporations and post office and air, bus and train travel companies would howl a bundle!

BTB - good idea about barraging the ACLU.  Yes, I saw something on the news in the past week or so about a committee in Fort Collins deciding what was appropriate  (and the ACLU was represented)!!!

In the past decade my family has become so aggravated with the commercialization of Christmas. We like to give things that are homemade with our own little hands. Last year I received the greatest gift a person could EVER receive....my family lineage traced all the way back to the year 1250 AD! It took my brothers father in law 2 1/2 years to complete the book and my parents paid him to have it bound...it has pics and small bios of key family members. To me it is priceless....and it did not come from a store...it came from a family members own time and lots of love. To me it is the greatest gift a person can receive.....my family history. I found out that William Penn brought my family (both sides!) from Europe to Pennsylvania in the mid 1600's and my family members had to serve as slaves when they first arrived here to pay for their trans-atlantic crossing. Of course they came here legally and were integral in founding Pennsylvania. Later they ventured west to Ohio and Indiana. I have had family members serve (and die) in EVERY war since the French and Indian war.

My family considers Christmas a time of joy and celebration for Christ's birth. Our main objective for Christmas is to have EVERYONE together- this is our gift...just being together- good food, wonderful family and dear friends.

This year.....count those you LOVE as your GIFT.....if you want to give something...bake some cookies and take them to your local nursing home, volunteer your time at a local soup kitchen for the homeless and less fortunate. Give of yourself....that is exactly what God did for us..he GAVE OF HIMSELF for our benefit...the baby Jesus.

Remember the REASON FOR THE SEASON and MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL!
