They'll do anything to save a buck, obviously.  Unfortunately, Bush made a speech the other day outlining what they're going to do to fix this problem and all it is is basically throw more money at the problem and give the government more powers over recalls.  In theory, I guess it is okay but we should really just stop importing from China completely, in my opinion.  They obviously don't care about the health and safety of consumers of their products.

Bush's plan involves $80 million in 2009, $90 million in 2010, $100 million in 2011, and another $20 million to revamp the CPSC's testing labs.

You're right, we should stop importing from China, except we can't because our trade deficit to them is HUGE (if I understand the whole trade thing, which I'm not sure I do).

WHY do we keep throwing money at everyone else's mistakes???  GRRRR

No kidding.  They 'spec' on the product is a 'non-toxic' glue.  The chinese substituted their own version.  WHEN WILL IT END?

Maybe we need to send some of our bigtime outsourcing CEOs, TV mouthpieces for free trade, and Bush admin officials on a "date" with the Chinese. I imagine that Bush is already hot for this date rape toy, as he probably masturbates with the passage of every Free Trade agreement that comes across his desk for a signature.

You do know that the CFR, or maybe it is Trilateral Commission; they are all rowing the same boat, has a plan to reduce the population on the planet to 85% of what it is now, don't you.  I do not know if they have set a date to reach that goal.

I do believe abortion and euthanasia is a part of that plan.  This is another way, and they probably cheer when thousands are killed in earthquakes.

I have never heard this.  Well they must have been dancing a jig over that tsunami a couple years ago, especially when it hit countries not especially known for their birth control and have a dozen kids each!  250,000+ dead are numbers that should have made them smile I guess...

I guess if you want to see the potential for damage what an overpopulated country like India or China might do, watch the movie "The Shoes of the Fisherman", and oldie (1960's??) about electing a new pope and the world being held hostage by a hungry few billion people in China with nukes in their hands.  Good movie, gives a good telling of the election of a pope and has Oskar Werner as one of the stars, who IMO is pretty handsome--LOL--and also Anthony Quinn.

After thinking about this a little more, I am even more angry and upset with Bush's proposal to "protect" us from these Chinese imports.

All he wants to do is provide a lot more money for testing and allow quicker product recalls.  My biggest question is the testing aspect.  Does anyone really think that if Bush's new plan were in place already that the testers would have tested these aqua dots for 1,4- butanediol, the chemical that converts into GHB when ingested?  They were supposed to use 1,5-pentanediol, which is in a lot of glues.  I seriously doubt they would have tested for that.  We would have had the same outcome as now.  Kids would have fallen ill.  We really need to stop importing from China.  They cannot be trusted.

I agree, especially food products whether it be for our pets or us to consume.  I want labeling because I want to know where my food comes from, and if I know that the food is being grown in fields next to rivers of human waste, I do not want to buy those food products, and think I have a RIGHT to know via labeling!

I wonder how much money they saved by using the date rape type product rather than the correct glues?
