Illinois has now decided to make it illegal to check a work status by using social security numbers!  The state is currently in a legal battle with the Homeland Security!  Chertoff vows to fight all law suits!

Does this possibly mean that when I apply for a job in this state I will not have to give my S/S number to my prospective employer?  Could this be considered discrimination against American citizens?  As we all know many employers now run credit checks and background checks on their prospective employees using the S/S numbers.  How can employers expect to check their new employees work history without the use of the S/S number?  Can we expect the same treatment as legal Americans,that the illegals in this state get?

Now the state of Illionois can get all the illegal votes they need to keep this state Dem!!!!!!

This state is so corupt, it is unreal!!!!!

I'd say they will ask to see your SS card but will not do a follow up to see if it's really yours. The problem as I see it is: IF we get a Federal Law to check and deport illegals and some states refuse to enforce the law, then what? They will probably backmail the states into enforcement or the state will get all Federal funding removed. Even then, some states will be working " under the table" on enforcement. I see no real answer to this as long as employers put profit above all else.

Sounds like cheap industrial labor lobbying to me--Chicago style. So apparently a once sensible and well enforced federal immigration law has eroded into a state by state game of checkers with no real winners except the violators themselves. Now the line between right and wrong in this issue has been blurred three thousand miles wide! What planet am I living on?!!

Can you provide a link to any news story that corroborates this?

Any judge should throw this out of court in a second.  It is in direct violation of the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, a Federal law.

From IRCA 1986:

"(B) DOCUMENTS ESTABLISHING BOTH EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION AND IDENTITY. -- A document described in this subparagraph is an individual's --

"(i) United States passport;

"(ii) certificate of United States citizenship;

"(iii) certificate of naturalization;

"(iv) unexpired foreign passport, if the passport has an appropriate, unexpired endorsement of the Attorney General authorizing the individual's employment in the United States; or

"(v) resident alien card or other alien registration card, if the card --

"(I) contains a photograph of the individual or such other personal identifying information relating to the individual as the Attorney General finds, by regulation, sufficient for purposes of this subsection, and

"(II) is evidence of authorization of employment in the United States.

"(C) DOCUMENTS EVIDENCING EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION. -- A document described in this subparagraph is an individual's --

"(i) social security account number card (other than such a card which specifies on the fact that the issuance of the card does not authorize employment in the United States);

We don't need new "comprehensive" immigration laws. We need widespread, well funded enforcement of existing immigration law, i. e. IRCA 1986. http://www.oig.lsc.gov/legis/irca86.htm ANYTHING ELSE IS JUST A BIG CHARADE! Remember the Alamo AND Agents Compean, Ramos, Brugman, Sipe, Rhodes, Deputy Sheriff Hernandez, K-9 Officer Mohr & Noe Aleman. ***Redress it all by repealing the 17th Amendment to the U. S. Constitution: http://www.articlev.com/repeal_the_17...
