Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid Declares Commitment to Comprehensive Immigration Reform on Azteca America's Political Forum 'Issues: Caras y Voces'

Wednesday October 31, 7:37 am ET

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Azteca America, the fastest-growing Hispanic television network in the United States, is proud to have hosted Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid on this Monday's broadcast of "Issues: Caras y Voces," a political forum hosted by veteran Latino journalist Armando Guzman.

Senator Reid (D-NV), who has been Democratic Leader since 2004, and a member of Congress since 1982, is one of the strongest proponents of a comprehensive immigration reform in Washington. He was named Senate Majority Leader earlier this year.

During his participation, Senator Reid voiced his commitment to immigration reform:

They can do all the mean spirited things they want. I'm going to move
ahead with an agenda that is positive.
It's easy to be negative. What we
need to do of course is comprehensive immigration reform. We didn't do
that. We were stopped by the Republicans. But that doesn't mean we
shouldn't continue to do the right thing.

Although Senator Reid recognized that President Bush is more supportive of immigration reform than other factions of his party, Senator Reid questioned the President's resolve to move forward on immigration reform.

"His party is split. What does the President of the United States want to do?" questioned Senator Reid.

Although he recognized that immigration reform remains an uphill battle in the current electoral climate, Senator Reid, said he remains determined.

"That is what we came here for ... to solve the hard things ... "

"Issues: Caras y Voces" features top leaders that impact the Hispanic community through one-on-one interviews conducted by Armando Guzman. Covering the White House and the Capitol for almost two decades, Mr. Guzman is one of the most respected correspondents in Washington. The interview forum airs every Monday evening during Noticiero Azteca America, the network news broadcast of Azteca America.

Past guests of "Issues: Caras y Voces" include: New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Senator Mel Martinez (R-FL) and Congressman Xavier Becerra (D-CA).

The forum is also broadcast in Mexico on Proyecto 40.

Thank you Graciela for the update on this idiot.  I hope and illegal does something drastic to Reid in a personal way that it effects his life drastically.  He won't admit it even if it does happen.   I don't wish him death on him or any of his family, just maybe a home invasion robbery or something.

*lol*  DonnaUSB - wouldn't happen..  Reid's 'one of them' in their eyes - a hero.  Unless of course, he just can't get anything through the Senate.  Then he might be in for a few surprizes from disgruntled illegals.  Oh darn!

Good grief....obviously he's not only stupid and completely ignorant (read: unconcerned!) of his constituents' wishes, he must be a firm believer in "if at first you don't succeed....try.....try.....try again."  (In other words, he likes banging his head against the wall!)

Well, we could make some fliers with his picture and a caption that says 'Stanch supporter of deportation', and tack them up along the border crossing fences.  They'd remember his face for sure!

Or maybe we could arrange for him to have a nice long heart to heart chat with this guy:  BOLD STATEMENT ON IMMIGRATION SHOWS OFF LADY LIBERTY'S UNDIES

BOLD STATEMENT ON IMMIGRATION SHOWS OFF LADY LIBERTY'S UNDIES

Bold Statement on Immigration Shows Off Lady Liberty's Undies

May 30, 2006

SOUTH TOLEDO -- A south Toledo man is using a replica of the Statue of Liberty to let the world know his thoughts on illegal immigration. Art Bollinger says he got this idea from an e-mail he received, and decided to duplicate the picture.

From the front, you can see the Statue of Liberty. From behind, it shows Lady Liberty's behind, in a thong bikini. The nearby sign says "Kiss my American Ass."

Bollinger tells News 11 he will accept anyone into this country as long as they come here legally, but he has no patience for those who sneak in. "You don't have rights. You are here illegally," said Bollinger of the people who cross the border without permission. "If I break the law, I go to prison. You break the law and the American government says they'll kiss your behind. No. That's ridiculous."

The US Senate bill passed last week would tighten the border, offer a guest worker programs to bring in new foreign workers and provide a chance at citizenship for millions of illegal immigrants already in the country. The US House bill generally is limited to border enforcement and cracking down on employers who hire illegal immigrants. Negotiators from both chambers will try to reconcile the differences and agree on a compromise.

Bollinger says his wife is from Russia and he had to jump through all kinds of hoops and pay for the process of her becoming a US citizen. He feels everyone else should do the same.

US Rep. James Sensenbrenner, R-Wis., answered a flat "no'' when asked Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press'' whether he would accept any legislation that would put illegal immigrants on a path to citizenship. Sensenbrenner said the United States 20 years ago passed a bill that allowed illegal immigrants to stay in the U.S. and become American citizens. He said that only increased the flow of illegal immigrants.

US Sen. Chuck Hagel, R-Neb., said the Senate took a comprehensive approach to dealing with illegal immigration and he took issue with Sensenbrenner's characterization of the Senate's approach. "Amnesty. That's nonsense,'' Hagel said. Sen. Bill Frist, R-Tenn., said he, but not necessarily the Senate, could accept a phased-in compromise: enforcement first, then moving to citizenship issues. "I personally would, because I think, first and foremost, you've got to lock down the borders. You can't allow this hemorrhaging of millions of people,'' he said on "Fox News Sunday.''

Under the Senate bill, illegal immigrants who have been in the country at least five years can continue working and eventually become legal permanent residents and citizens after paying at least $3,250 in fines, fees and back taxes and learning English. Illegal immigrants in the U.S. between two and five years would be required to go to a point of entry at the border and file an application to return. Those in the country less than two years would have to leave.

What on earth were the people of Nevada thinking when they cast their vote for this jerk?  Are they all a bunch of potheads?  Isn't Nevada too dry to grow marijuana?

We don't need new "comprehensive" immigration laws. We need widespread, well funded enforcement of existing immigration law, i. e. IRCA 1986. http://www.oig.lsc.gov/legis/irca86.htm ANYTHING ELSE IS JUST A BIG CHARADE! Remember the Alamo AND Agents Compean, Ramos, Brugman, Sipe, Rhodes, Deputy Sheriff Hernandez, K-9 Officer Mohr & Noe Aleman. ***Redress it all by repealing the 17th Amendment to the U. S. Why do you think he is for illegals.   That is probably where his supply is coming from. Money mouth

Donna asks: Why do you think he is for illegals?

One simple answer: The Las Vegas service industry!!!
