Amnesty Advocates Set to Bring DREAM Act to the Floor! Call Your Senators Now!
This morning (Tues. 10/16), we heard from reliable sources that amnesty advocates in the Senate are poised to renew their push to pass the DREAM Act. Our sources tell us that the DREAM Act will be offered as an amendment to the Labor, Health and Human Services Appropriations bill (H.R. 3043) on the Senate floor, most likely late TODAY or TOMORROW. We understand things to be moving so quickly that even Senate staffers do not have the text of the amendment!
Nevertheless, we do know that the DREAM Act grants amnesty to illegal aliens who entered the U.S. before the age of 16 and have met certain educational requirements. Those who are granted amnesty under the bill may later on Petition the Department of Homeland Security to grant their parents legal status. And if past versions are an indicator, the amendment will have no caps on the numbers, no age limit on applicants, will allow "conditional legal permanent resident status" to be extended indefinitely, and will provide for retroactive benefits. We can also expect the amendment to authorize in-state tuition to illegal aliens and make illegal aliens who receive conditional LPR status eligible for federal financial aid.
ACT NOW TO STOP THE DREAM ACT!!!! Please contact your Senators IMMEDIATELY and let them know that you oppose the DREAM Act.
Tell them:
A vote for the DREAM Act is a vote for amnesty;
The DREAM Act unfairly rewards illegal alien parents with exactly what they wanted—legal status for their children and a U.S. education at taxpayer expense;
When you told them you opposed the Bush-Kennedy Amnesty Bill, YOU MEANT IT and are upset they are trying to sneak provisions of it past the American people;
You are watching how they vote.
Last month, you inundated Senate offices with thousands and thousands of calls opposed to the DREAM Act. Your efforts stopped the DREAM Act in its tracks. Please act now to stop it again!
1. Call Senators and ask them to vote for Sen. Vitter's anti-sanctuary amendment to the H.R. 3093 known as the "CJS spending bill" - Commerce, Justice and Science appropriations bill
The amendment by Sen. Vitter (R-La.) would deny a popular federal police grant to cities that adopt "sanctuary" policies. These are policies that prohibit police from reporting illegal aliens to the feds.
If the amendment passes, it is unlikely that any city would give up the federal funding in order to continue to provide sanctuary to illegal aliens.
Generally, sanctuary policies instruct city employees not to notify the federal government of the presence of illegal aliens living in their communities. The policies also end the distinction between legal and illegal immigration--so illegal aliens often benefit from city services too.
2. DREAM ACT AGAIN
Senator Reid says he is bringing up the DREAM Act again around October 22nd. It is a constant battle - we can't give up. Tell our Senators to say NO again to this "Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Bill."SEE UPDATE ABOVE
3. CALL THE PRESIDENT'S COMMENT LINE: 202-456-1111
In an Arkansas speech, the President once again uses the line that we can't deport millions of people.
Remind the President that the states of Oklahoma, Arizona, Colorado and Georgia have passed laws that are very restrictive toward illegals and the illegals are leaving!
Cities are reporting that the illegals are leaving after instituting restrictive measures.
Enforcement works - Self-Deportation works.

Finally got through to Hutchinson's office. Her aide said she didn't think it was being voted on today or tomorrow, but admitted that they don't always get the up-to-date info in a timely manner.
YEP - what bothers me the most is their dam*ed persistence no matter what We The People want! I think this battle may take MUCH more effort on our part, because it looks like they'll carve the defeated amnesty bill into a jillion chunks, and tack 'em on to potentially any legislation just to sneak them thru. Gonna be a lot of typin' and callin'! Just seems like we are doing too much battle with our own employees - maybe we oughta just fire 'em!

Kyl's office wanted to know where I heard about the Dream Act legislation. He said he had been getting some calls. Evidently they're not aware of it.
See my orig post at top of this thread. Came to me as an email from Federation for American Immigration Reformwww.fairus.org. Not sure what their "source" was, but they seem to be on top of immigration legislation somehow. Will watch CSpan later to see if it happens. Thanks for your efforts!
Note their comment: We understand things to be moving so quickly that even Senate staffers do not have the text of the amendment!

My pleasure.
No harm in addressing it just in case. It's the kind of underhanded action our Senate has been taking lately.
Posted in good conscience after the great thread cleansing of November 2007 AD in which we stepped in unison to declare our good works.
Watching now. Talking about appropriations for indian reservations in the CJS spending bill now. No discussion of Vitter's amendment to deny funding to sanctuary cities yet.
Here is the email that I sent Kyl and McCain. I can't believe they are going to continue with these tactics until they drive all of us nuts with trying to keep up with their ridiculous antics. We have got to vote a majority of these people out of office. As Jim said, "fire 'em."
Feel free to use this email/fax:
Dear Senator :
In regard to Senator Vitter's anti-Sanctuary amendment to H.R. 3093 known as CJS Spending Bill-Commerce Justice and Science Appropriations Bill, we are asking that you please support and vote for Senator Vitter's anti-sanctuary amendment to H.R. 3093.
The American people are so tired of fighting our legislators on issues that should be passed in favor of Americans, not illegal immigrants. We will continue to fight until you realize that we are the people who employ all of you.
OK folks - just got another "heads up" email from NumbersUSA about both amendments. There has to be something to this! They said Vitter is up NOW, and they suspect DREAM Act by tonight! Get on it if you have not contacted your senators yet..... PLEASE

Here is another letter/fax/email that can be used.
Dear Senator!
I am faxing about H.R. 3093, the CJS spending bill.
I am urging a YES vote on Sen. Vitter's amendment to prohibit "COPS" money to cities that support sanctuary policies. (COPS is a federal grant program to state and local law enforcement agencies to advance community policing.)
Only Senators who seek to protect illegal aliens and promote illegal immigration would vote against the Vitter amendment. I am counting on My Sen. to vote YES.
Sanctuary policies have been against federal law since the 1996 federal immigration law required local governments to cooperate with Department of Homeland Security's Immigration and Customs Enforcement. But many cities have refused to do so, adopting so-called "sanctuary policies." Unfortunately, the Clinton and Bush Justice Departments have refused to bring suit against these cities.
The Vitter amendment would seek to eliminate sanctuary policies in local municipalities, whereby law enforcement officials are barred from asking suspects about their immigration status or reporting them to Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The amendment would ensure that existing law is enforced uniformly across the country by withholding COPS federal funding for cities that choose to violate section 642(a) of the 1996 Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act (IIRIRA).
It is highly unlikely that any sanctuary cities in our state will lose funding because nearly all of them will end up ending their sanctuary policies once they see they will lose federal funding by keeping them.
Why I want this done…… It would add $75 million for 287(g) program-related training, exercises, and technical assistance.
Scores of cities, counties and states across the country are in line to get the 287(g) program training so they can aggressively go after illegal aliens in their jurisdictions. But few can get the training because Congress hasn't appropriated enough money for the training.
While we put a stop to sanctuary policies in cities with officials who don't respect the rule of law, the feds should be doing everything possible to help those jurisdictions who are ready to do all they can to help identify and detain the illegal aliens in their areas.
Menendez, D- New Jersey is trying to defend the illegals, all the while going around the fact that they don't belong in this country in the first place. He's using every excuse in the book to say that this funding should go through- they're witnesses, they're victims, they're not criminals, blah, blah, blah.... thereby keeping more illegals in the US. Puke.
