We need to maintain our term limits here in California. Our representatives are too one-sided and they are continually bringing forth legislation that goes against what most Californians want. Namely, being overrun by illegal immigration, homosexual marriage, assisted suicide, etc. There are many Hispanics and homosexual’s in office and we are being overrun by their agendas. Many of them will be ending their terms next year and that is why Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez, D-Los Angeles, Senate President pro tem Don Perata, D-Oakland, and Attorney General Jerry Brown are trying to amend the California Term Limits Law in order to expand their terms.
Term limits are important for a number of reasons, including the prevention of corruption. Term limits gives more citizens a chance to serve, and have led to more diverse legislative bodies. With term limits, comes more electoral competition as well as legislators who work harder to make a difference because they are working with a personal deadline. New people always bring fresh light to Congress and nurture progress in our government.
Term limits are opposed primarily by elected officials and the special-interest groups that depend on them as we saw when all the illegals marched on May 1st in L.A. demanding rights that they do not have and with our representatives supporting them and not our LA Police Officers. Now we have lawsuits against our city and our officers are either out of work or have been reassigned. We need term limits to get these LA Raza leaders out of office.
California has the same problem as Washington state. The voting population and organization in the liberal big cities just overwhelms that of the decent people in small towns and rural areas. I cannot even imagine any way to rectify those problems.
"Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants. It is the creed of slaves." ~William Pitt, 1783
