There seems to be an unusual silence on the board concerning the battle between President Bush and the State of Texas on the execution of a Mexican citizen convicted of murder in the death of two girls in 1993. Apparently the President wants to enforce a decision by the International Court of Justice because according to ICJ their rights to legal help was violated. The President feels that by not abbiding by the ICJ decision would harm American interests abroad. Previously, the President said he would ignor this court when it makes decisions concerning state criminal law.
This does not make any sense to me. How can this President bend over backwards to protect the rights of Mexican criminals yet ignor the appeals of the American people for the release of imprisioned border agents Ramos and Campeon. Any thoughts?
What can be said that hasn't been said a million times already????

There is another thread where this issue was raised and is being discussed. Can't remember what the title is, though. And yes, I think most of us have pretty much the same thoughts. Bush is once again standing on the wrong side of justice for the U.S. Citizen.
Wonder if GWB has asked Randy Ertman father of Jennifer and Elizabeth Pena's father. I will never forget the day they found the girls bodies a horrible site to watch the fathers of these two girls. This bastard should have been zapped.

I also read this on another thread, and read something about the case over a year ago as it was posted on another site. The only thing I can think to do is to contact the court in Texas. Apparently a ruling was made that Bush could not interfere with this case or ask for special concessions for the killer(s).
The President does need to be stopped from pursuing this. I wouldn't be surprised if he tried to pardon him, reduce the sentence or do some other ungodly favor for this murdering criminal. As far as Governor Perry is concerned, I am not sure that he couldn't grant a pardon (via Bush) as well.
The key issue I should have mentioned that the battle between Bush vs. Texas in a case heading to the Supreme Court is in issue of just how far Presidential power extends when foreign nationals are concerned. Another issue; If the President is concerned about the ICJ regarding Mexican criminals getting their rights what will this say about terror suspects held at Gitmo if we are talking about how America's image is perceived in foreign countries?
They're waiting to be heard in the Supreme Court now and it will affect 50 other Mexicans on Death Row. See Thread
Bush Throw Border Guards in Jail But Tries To Save Death Row Illegal
The Supreme Court will hear arguments on Oct. 10 regarding Medellin v. Texas, and the high court's decision will affect the treatment of more than 50 Mexicans on death row in the U.S., as well as about 6,000 American citizens who are accused of crimes each year while traveling or living abroad.

Did you know them Blaze? I can't imagine a more horrible thing to happen to a daughter--even though I don't have one. Remember, those girls were gang raped from what I have read. George wouldn't feel the same way if it happened to one of his girls.
No I did not know them but followed the search efforts extensively as I was on a search and rescue squad in Baytown. I have two daughters that were about the same age as these two girls at the time. Every thing you have read is true and then some things that never were printed. These animals do not deserve to live. They had no remorse whatsoever for the horrendous things they did to these girls. These 6000 citizens that are charged in other countries will not get any special treatment based on this decision. The US is the only country that will ever be held to this crap.

When I was on Patrol in Texas we got a call about a bad car accident and we were called in to look for a missing baby. Totally disabling feeling looking for a dead or injured baby, the kind where you throw up in your mouth and it stays there. Turns out the child wasn't in the car but at a neighbors. But it didn't help the feelings we were having at the time!
You pray to find the child and you pray you don't find the child.

Bad dog, Rayj00! You SHOULD be ashamed! Bush is showing his true colors (that of the Buzzard Rag). He supports Mexico and illegals--and now illegal alien murderers more than he does his own Border Patrol!! He is insane.

If you read State Department's site about travel to foreign countries it tells US citizens to be careful about violating other nation's laws as death sentences are a possibility and the ICJ decision's about what is fair is irrelevant in these countries. Saudi Arabia is an example when Islamic law is violated.
Let's face facts; had it been an Iranian citizen the President would not be eager to intervene but since it involves a Mexican it's another story. For some reason our strong Christian President is afraid to stand up to Mexico even allowing the Mexican flag to be flown above ours without even making a comment and then the news of an Islamic chaplin doing a service at the White House to mark the end of Ramadan. If we don't stand up this Administration is going to ram an amnesty policy along with the SPP down our throats.
I guess I'll have to walk it with him... it's something that makes me sick to my stomach when I think I gave that man my vote....twice!... I am awake now though....
I'm embarrassed and ashamed that I voted for G. Bush...twice!!!
Been down that road too Rayj00.....
Fry the killer and free Ramos and Compean.......you would think the decisions for BOTH cases would be crystal clear.
Oh Boo Hoo we don't want to hurt American interests abroad......that's already been happening!

this is just a precursor to the future. It will keep happening and will only get worse unless Americans FORCE their representation in congress to do something about it... sorry to say that APATHY is rampant in this country so it will take many people going out and getting the word out to stop it. Our Children have been indoctrinated into this political apathy for decades now, it won't be easy. trade agreements that this country has been put into by political puppets over the las 15 years have endangered our sovereignty and this case is just one example. There will be more and the less resistance the government see to this example will determine how rapidly they move along with further errosions of our sovereignty.
