Houston is a known sanctuary city...

Our Mayor, Bill White is a member of the controversial Council of Foreign Relations and does nothing to curb the illegal immigration problem.

Recently, there was a town hall meeting in an upscale suburb of Houston.  There has been an evergrowing illegal day labor site in front of a neighborhood and across from a High School.   The American citizens (many of whom live in the adjacent neighborhood) have routinely picketed the strip center where the illegals congregate, videotaped contractors hiring these illegals, contacted ICE repeatedly, contacted the local police to stop the "loitering",  and begged our representatives over this issue in an attempt to shut down this site.  There are two schools across from this day labor site - and children (middle school and high school) have been taunted by this group for years... many parents have to chauffer their children that would normally walk home as to avoid any confrontation (whistling, etc).

It's important to note that there happens to be a LEGAL, tax funded Texas Workforce commission day labor site 2 miles down the road....however, as in the title "legal" - it is rarely utilized.

LaRaza and a few other pro-illegal groups were banding together to make this site an "official-illegal" site - funded by private dollars.  Thankfully a local border watch group got involved and we held a town hall meeting with a panel.  The panel was stacked with pro-illegal friendly folks.  It included: A representative from LaRaza, the archidiocese from the Galveston Houston Catholic church, a representive from a Hispanic group organizing the push to get the site declared official, two representatives from the local police, another pro-illegal representative and ONE member of the pro-legal immigration border watch group.  The deck was stacked in favor of the pro-illegal group by the make up of this panel.

The meeting drew a fair amount of community members - many vocalized their issues with this day labor site, Houston's ever growing immigration problem and the church's interference in this hot political button.  The archdiocese repeated many of the catch phrases we hear in the media - they are only here to feed their families, create a better life, do the jobs that Americans won't do, and my all time favorite - we need a comprehensive immigration reform plan to "bring them out of the shadows".

BiotechBabe and I were discussing the conflict with the archdiocese of the Catholic church and his public involvement in a HIGHLY political issue under the pretense of "humanitarian" cause....  Could he jeopardize the church's tax exempt status with attending public meetings on the pro-illegal front?

I'm open to suggestions from this group... A group is working on petitioning the neighborhood and petitioning the strip center businesses that allow the loitering to occur.  I will keep you posted as to whether this site is shut down or declared official...

I used to live in Houston, in the days right before the takeover, but the "creeping in effect" was there.  It was such a crowded place then with pack jammed freeways and intermitent bad pockets, so I can image what it is like now.  There were two strong mayors in succession  then who also enforced the laws, so it looks as though White has lost all hold on the city, and obviously doesn't care.   It is a shame.  I thought Houston had more guts than to let this takeover happen.

Too bad the "legal citizens" won't revolt.  I don't imagine the folks in River Oaks are any too happy with possible encroachment on the outskirts.

Houston has never had a good mayor they haveall been crooked as a snake and involved in all manner of shady land deals for as long as I can remember and that is a long time. Corruption in the police department, crime lab problems drugs and gang bangers running out of our ears. Basically the entire area east and north of town have been taken over by Illegals. My old neighborhood is a dump now.

The eyes of the world are once again on Texas. The AMC Theatre chain  will be monitoring our attendance very carefully in Houston. If we sell out and need
extra screens, they will consider taking the film nationally.  That would mean everything. 180 degree turnaround.

Dan Patrick and Edd Hendee will be promoting the shows for the next two weeks.

Please tell you’re your family, friends and other groups!

These are the scheduled screenings for Houston on Thursday, October  11th. As these screenings sell out, more screens will be added at the same  theaters.
You must purchase advance tickets online at http://www.BorderMovie.com

There will be no tickets sold at the door.

Please note this movie is rated for language and graphics, but we have removed some of the more offensive words in areas of this movie based on
feed back from the previous viewing.  Though this is not a "church"  or children's version, I do feel for those few who were very uncomfortable  (and told me so)  last time, you will be more comfortable recommending to  friends
