Lawmakers Not Worried About Federal Lawsuit Sep 26, 2007
Illinois lawmakers and immigration advocates are defiant in the face of a federal lawsuit over an immigration and employment program. State legislators passed a law earlier this year, telling businesses in the state not to participate in the Basic Pilot Program. The program is designed to make sure illegal workers don't slip under the radar. But State Representative Cynthia Soto says the program too often "red flags" legal workers, and even citizens. Governor Rod Blagojevich signed Soto's law this summer. His office says "the system as it is now leaves too much room for mistakes and abuse." Soto says 50-percent of people are denied under the electronic verification system. Her law says until the feds can get 99-percent of cases correct, and answered quickly, the program is illegal in Illinois.
How hypicrital! It's illegal to enforce a Frederal law, but considers it ok to defend thousands of illegal aliens. Are there two definitions of illegal?
Leaving Georgia is what they're supposed to be doing now with our mandatory employee ID registration law here. But I'm seeing hordes of them still pouring into Atlanta constantly. My guess is that many unscrupulous employers are simply finding loopholes and tricks around filing them into the "National Data Base" as the illegals steal more info from real Americans anyway. Maybe the REAL ID ACT could have a slight upside in helping stem this raging illegitimate flood of squatters. Small comfort, I know. And if they get another shamnesty bill passed it will trump everthing we do at the local levels because you can't track who sneaked in when and where. The illegals won't really be applying for these programs in mass anyway, they'll most likely keep flying under the radar because they're too suspicious of traps. Yet their blanket of protection from prosecution and deportation will be even more secure. GET PISSED PEOPLE !!! Thanks, Born American...

They are pouring into my town, Dalton, GA in record pace because they know we are a sanctuary city. We even have a new Banco Fuergo opening just for hispanics. Gosh, I hate this place!
Sounds like Dalton has been over run. It was real hard to find a fast food place were the employees spoke English, it was very broken. Kind of reminded us of Southern CA. We left there 2 years ago. We now live in Illinois, which isn't much better. We are a sancutary STATE!
I saw this on Lou Dobbs show yesterday, but I was distracted and wasn't able to catch the details. Thanks bornamerican.
Fire of Freedom- I'm fairly certain the illegals and those that support them will use tricks and find the loopholes in all the laws on the books and the new ones that are supposed to curtail more illegal immigration. We can't stop fighting, and I won't, but I wonder sometimes what good it does to fight over words on paper in the end.

I wish Illinois would do this.
I thought San Diego was a sanctuary city? If not, why don't they enforce the laws, or am I missing something? ICE won't help?
It sounds like the government is not helping fast enough. San Diego is getting tired of spending so much money, detaining, and careing for the illegals. ICE can't pay for the county services that is spent annually!
As far as I know SanDiego is a sanctuary city. A sanctuary city that is much poorer now. The info is in the full report.
I don't know what more to do. We have an immigration forum meeting at the City Hall a couple of weeks ago and even though we have a FULL TIME ICE officer stationed here, he told us they were not going to do anything! Nothing, nada! It all depends on how much money you throw under the table in the name of GREED. The only hope we've got right now is the RICO case against one of our major players, Mohawk Industries.

Another Food Recall Due to E. coli A New Jersey company is recalling more than 300,000 pounds of beef distributed nationwide as frozen hamburgers because they could be contaminated with E. coli. Six people in New York got sick from eating the burgers from Topps Meat Co. Should you be concerned? Read WebMD's report for details on this news.
