Today on MSNBC's Super Tuesday show they interviewed Ron Paul. There were many interesting things that came out of the interview I wanted to share and discuss.
First, Ron Paul stated the two main differences between himself and the Libertarian Party. His stance on abortion as he is Pro-life but does accept the fact it is a State's issue. His stance on immigration as he is opposed to carrot programs, wants a tightly closed border, wants incentives removed and wants no anchor babies, etc.
When asked about the number of Internet volunteers he stuck with his stance that he did nothing to find them, it was the message of liberty and freedom, based on the Constitution, that allowed his Internet team to find him. He was asked if he would use that strength to make a 3rd Party run if he did not win the Republican nomination and he was quite clear that was not on his agenda.
Asked which candidate he would urge his supporters to get behind if he did not win the nomination and he said the candidate that supported his stance on Iraq and the Constitution. The MSNBC reporter said there were none that fit that qualification and Dr. Paul just smiled. Again, he was asked about a 3rd Party run and he said no.
He did say he thought the volunteers could be kept together as a loud voice moving forward that could not be ignored. He thought the basic structure was sound enough the group should be able to have a major impact moving forward no matter whether he wins or not.
Do you think the group of volunteers will gel as a unit even if Ron Paul does not receive the nomination?

There is plenty of room in there for Dr. Paul to run as a 3rd Party candidate or independent. Actually I think it makes much sense for him to run as such if he does not win the nominaton as the principle of the matter demands it. If he doesn't he will leave a lot of completely discouraged and disillusioned young people in his wake.
Better go the distance once you sign up for the fight......
His major reason for not running as an independent is the fact the system is rigged against any such success due to the varying State requirements to even gain ballot access. If he were to lose the primary there would be no time to actually mount such an attempt to gain ballot access. Yet, if he were to begin the foundation before the primaries it would send a message he has given up winning the nomination. It is a very challenging dichotomy to say the least.
