Sen. Hutchison Hosts Texas Border Patrol Chiefs
All Five Sector Chiefs from Texas Attend Meeting in Sen. Hutchison’s DC Office

WASHINGTON -- Texas’ senior Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R–TX) today hosted a group of U.S. Border Patrol officials in her office to discuss the security of our nation’s borders.

Sen. Hutchison met with Deputy Border Patrol Chief Ronald S. Colburn, El Paso Sector Chief Victor M. Manjarrez, Jr., Marfa Sector Chief John Mietana, Jr., Del Rio Sector Chief Randy Hill, Laredo Sector Chief Carlos Carrillo, and Rio Grande Valley Sector Chief Ronald D. Vitiello. Also present were San Diego Sector Chief Michael Fisher and El Centro Sector Chief Roy Villareal from California.

 

All five Texas Border Patrol Sectors were represented at the meeting.

 

Sen. Hutchison has supported efforts to increase funding for personnel, technology, and equipment to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The Senate recently passed H.R. 2638, the DHS Appropriations bill, which provides additional resources to DHS and includes her amendment, #2466, providing DHS the flexibility they need to ensure that local border patrol sector chiefs and community leaders are working together on border issues.

yeah didn't she also support the amnesty bill, otherwise known as "comprehensive immigration reform" and isn't she against the fence... this is just window dressing... is she up for re-election by chance?

She is not up for election this time around and there is a rumor she will quit before the end of her term.  She was considered a potential candidate for governor last election, but elected to remain in the Senate.    Maybe she will run after Perry leaves, which could be sooner than later if Guliani wins the presidency.  Maybe she has a lobbying job or something else lined up.  She hasn't been a terrible senator for Texas, but she has been disappointing the past year or two.  She is torn because she wants some things that many of her constituents do not and therefore she is conflicted.

I read that she was thinking of running for Governor. I did write to her, that she would be lucky to get a job as a dish washer in Texas.

The DHS is also fighting to keep the Border fence from being built. I would bet she and the DHS didn't let that subject slip out.

i must agree with Sheilah . feeling she knows the Governments lame actions as well as i .  Believe half of what you see , none of what you hear . Works good addressing our Government .

the people just don't know . most are to busy in their little lives to care for Old Glory less it gets forced on them IMO

Border Patrol - stand up group for this government . Allow them to do there jobs correctly would make a big differents

Arm the National Guard with STK orders . STOP the NAU crap (it's illegal) ASAP

they are Invading . that aganist our laws & Constitution (the Mexican Army does come across the border illegally )
