Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket It is official, Liliana is now at the United Church of Christ in Simi Valley. We will now move our protest from Long Beach to Simi ! Date: Sunday, Sept. 16th Time: 10am until 1pm http://www.uccsimi.org/home.asp 370 Royal Ave. Simi Valley, CA 93065 Phone #: 805-526-6001 Fax #: 805-526-6176 Email: info@uccsimi.org Pastor's message on their sanctuary stance: http://www.uccsimi.org/news/2007-08-.... http://www.uccsimi.org/news/sactuaryc... Deportation feared By Tom Kisken Tuesday, August 28, 2007 An Oxnard woman has moved to a small Simi Valley church with her 5-month-old son as part of a sanctuary movement that protects illegal immigrants from being separated from their families. The woman, who was told in May she was about to be deported, moved from an Episcopal church in Long Beach to a home that is owned by the United Church of Christ in Simi Valley and was once used as a parsonage. She arrived last week but will be officially welcomed at an interfaith blessing service at 10 a.m. today. Liliana, who won't reveal her last name for fear of repercussions to her family, is one of four illegal immigrants in a swath of Southern California living in faith communities through the national New Sanctuary Movement. The 80-member Simi Valley congregation is the first in Ventura County to open its doors, though other faith communities will provide financial and spiritual support. Church pastor June Goudey said the United Church of Christ has a long history of fighting for civil rights issues ranging from gay rights to racial equality. She said the Simi congregation is motivated not by politics but faith. "We believe God calls us to care for the stranger," she said. Simi Valley Mayor Paul Miller said he called the church to advise against what he called harboring illegal immigrants but was told the church feels duty-bound. He said the city's police department would help U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in deportation efforts if asked. "If the federal government knows the whereabouts of a person who's entered this country illegally, their job is to arrest and deport them," he said. "I sympathize with the human aspect of this but if the human being is in this country illegally, they are breaking the law." 'We are in a struggle' Earlier this month, ICE agents arrested and deported Elvira Arellano, who left her yearlong refuge at a Chicago church to attend an immigration rally in Los Angeles. But federal officials won't comment on whether agents will enter a church to make an arrest, answering all questions with a written statement. "ICE prioritizes enforcement efforts to best protect national security and promote the public safety of communities throughout the country," the statement reads. "We carry out enforcement actions at appropriate times and places." New Sanctuary Movement leaders have said they're not harboring immigrants or breaking any laws, noting ICE officials know the names of the people who are in sanctuary. But they hope the movement provides enough protection that lawyers can work with people like Liliana and find a way to stop deportation proceedings. "We are in a struggle," Liliana said through an interpreter in an interview on church property Monday. "We don't know what's going to happen." She's 29 years old, was born in the state of Michoacan and was caught trying to cross the border from Tijuana to San Diego about nine years ago. She said she earlier applied for a student visa but was turned down. After being caught, she crossed the border in a different place and came to Oxnard. Her husband, who works two jobs and is a homeowner, is a U.S. citizen and so are their three young children. Liliana said four armed officers showed up at her door about 6:15 on a May morning. They came to arrest her but gave her a few extra days because they were told there was no one else to care for the children. Protesters would demonstrate She worried deportation would tear her away and mean never being able to return. She went to the Ventura County Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice, which was organizing a local sanctuary movement, asked for shelter and found it at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Long Beach. She was there for three months, never leaving the sanctuary, working on her English and seeing her family whenever they could make the trip. Occasionally, protesters would demonstrate outside the church. "It's not easy," she said, "but I prefer it to having thousands of miles between me and my kids." She said her family is why she's agreed to be in the sanctuary movement's spotlight and why she welcomes the move to Simi Valley. She'll be able to see them more. But her cause is bigger than she is. She said she represents all the people who live in fear of being separated from their spouses and children. She sees her story as a way to help people understand why immigration reform is needed. "Destiny put me here," she said. — Staff writer Anna Bakalis contributed to this report. And once again protesters will demonstrate outside the church!! You can run but you can not hide!! Americans we are making a difference, let's take our nation back from the criminals and the elite!

be warned: THE GOONS WILL BE THERE IN FULL FORCE!! "Not satisfied that Liliana and her now 5-month old baby, Pablito, have left St. Luke's in Long Beach and taken up residence at the United Church of Christ in Simi Valley, the white supremacists are foaming at the mouth and taking their nooses into Ventura County. DON'T LET THESE RACISTS GET AWAY WITH IT! NO MORE LYNCH MOBS! Stand and defend women and children seeking sanctuary from minutefascist bloodhounds! " Not to worry, local police will be present and have provided a secured parking area near by. LET'S ROLL!!! Please spread to all lists and everyone that may be coming ! The police have secured parking for us at Madera Elementary Skrool, this is just one block West of the protest location, on the same side of the street ! Please try to arrive 30 minutes or so early. It is at 250 Royal ave., which is just 120 numbers to the west, so it is literally one small block away...1/10 of one mile.

To Savage: Your comment is confusing. Are you for or against illegal immigration? Why should any man, woman or child who is here illegally be given santuary in a church? And if a church is willing to break the law they should be prepared to be picketed. It is not racist to be a proud American and to want all U S laws enforced. The illegals are destroying the rule of law in this country. If they get their way we will all be living with anarchy. I applaud any group of Americans who are willing to actively work to get these illegals deported.

My last post was copied from a "pro-illegal alien" group who is calling for a counter protest. We (in the California ANTI-illegal alien movement) refer to these people as "goons" They are usually young anarchist-open-border-no one is illegal types who arrive at our rallies 1 hour early to announce on their bullhorns that the Minutemen are Nazis (as we walk in) This is common practice for these idiots. The greatest part about it is (our side) is made up of many races so their "nazi" tag on us is tired, old and ineffective. I am in the right forum people!!!!

NEW ARTICLE: From the Ventura County Star. Note the part where it says that this 'Church Group' has long history of fighting for rights...even for gay rights, something their faith is supposed to be against ? Simi church will be the site of anti-illegal immigration protest From staff reports Friday, September 14, 2007 An anti-illegal immigration group is planning to protest Sunday in front of a Simi Valley church that is offering sanctuary to an Oxnard woman who is in the country illegally. Save Our State, which has organized similar protests at other Southern California churches, plans to demonstrate at the United Church of Christ from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Liliana, who won't reveal her last name for fear of repercussions to her family, was told in May she was about to be deported. She was offered sanctuary in an Episcopal church in Long Beach. Then last month, she and her infant son moved to United Church's parsonage in Simi Valley. About 100 people showed up for the Save Our State protest at the Long Beach church when Liliana was living there. Counter-protesters also showed up, organizers said. "It was an interesting protest," said Chelene Nightingale, media and events director for Save Our State. "A lot of people who were local stopped by and joined us." Liliana is one of four illegal immigrants in Southern California living in faith communities through the national New Sanctuary Movement. United Church of Christ Pastor June Goudey said the church has a long history of fighting for civil rights issues, ranging from gay rights to racial equality. She wants the protest to be peaceful. "We're not trying to encourage anything that would be irresponsible," Goudey said. "We don't want a counter-demonstration." The church informed the Simi Valley police about it, too. "It's a planned protest, so we'll have resources available if anything does get out of hand," said Dave Livingstone, spokesman for the Simi Valley Police Department. The 80-member Simi Valley congregation is the first in Ventura County to offer sanctuary, though other faith communities will provide financial and spiritual support. New Sanctuary Movement leaders have said they're not breaking any laws, noting Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials know the names of the people who are in sanctuary. But they hope the movement provides enough protection that lawyers can work with people like Liliana and find a way to stop deportation proceedings. Liliana, 29, was born in the state of Michoacan and was caught trying to cross the border from Tijuana to San Diego about nine years ago. She said she earlier applied for a student visa but was turned down. She crossed the border again in a different place and came to Oxnard. Her husband, who works two jobs and is a homeowner, is a U.S. citizen and so are their three young children.

To Savage: Thank you very much for clarifying your position and that these are copies from pro illegal groups. I've read your comments on other posts so these didn't seem characteristic for you. But, I was afraid maybe you had gone "looney" on us! I am very relieved to know you haven't deserted our cause, as I think many others who post here are!!!

The save our state.org forum has had many plants as well. You just have to sniff em out and expose them for the frauds they are!! The main point is we all need to get out there and do something and then we need to bring others with us. Most people don't realize how radical the other side is.

Hurrah! I sure hope they don't chicken out and back down. It might be unprecedented, but it's about time these church member felons  get penalized for aiding and abetting illegal aliens. And, thank you so much for going and protesting aginst these  "holier than thou Christians". They are actually not very good Christians, because good Christians obey the laws of the country. In fact they are just run of the mill criminals like all the other riff riff that thinks the laws apply to everyone but themselves.

Thank you Savage4prez, You made a difference and we appreciate your efforts! Unfortunately, the problems are still unsolved! Here in Phoenix, another officer was killed in the line of duty yesterday, by, you guessed it, AN ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT who had served time in prison for theft and who had been deported in 2006! Savage, I commend you, but I support Tom Tancredo for President!

This was not your typical church. I think the sign in front said, "progressive" if this tells you anything. The so called "priest" was a woman with a flat top. Yikes, I have seious doubts she is serving my God. The mayor and several city council members were there at the protest as well. I don't think they want these types of church activities in Simi Valley. It was a pleasure marching in this protest. The Sanctuary movement must be brought down.
