Your governor has joined 12 others in a lobbying effort to increase H-1B visas for skilled foreign workers. In a letter to Democratic and Republican leaders, the thirteen governors pleaded with Congress to give them more H-1B visas:

"While wholesale immigration reform may not be possible in the 110th Congress, we urge congressional action this year that recognizes states’ immediate need to recruit and retain professionals in key sectors while we continue to produce here at home the skilled workforce our companies need in the long term."

This article, which fails to provide quotes from unemployed or underemployed programmers or tech workers, has more.

Please send this fax to your governor and warn them that they have been deceived by greedy corporate lobbyists who are trying to end the American dream for hundreds of thousands of American students, as well as larger numbers of middle-aged American tech workers who face intense age discrimination by the tech industry.

The 13 governors are:

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R-Calif.)

Gov. Christine Gregoire (D-Wash.)

Gov. Mitch Danield (R-Ind.)

Gov. Bill Ritter (D-Colo.)

Gov. Dave Freudenthal (D-Wyo.)

Gov. Deval Patrick (D-Mass.)

Gov. Eliot Spitzer (D-N.Y.)

Gov. Janet Napolitano (D-Ariz.)

Gov. Jim Doyle (D-Wis.)

Gov. Kathleen Sebelius (D-Kan.)

Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R-Minn.)

Gov. Jim Gibbons (R-Nev.)

Gov. Rick Perry (R-Texas)

Thank you for this information CJBL and  the alert.  My governor is on the list, and I have already written her.  This is just another huge area of dominance by foreign workers, and they are not all technical people on these H1-B Visas; they tend to be lower level workers as well.

It seems every time we make a call to our banking system for information a foreign voice is on the other end, particularly with anything in regard to credit cards or related credit information.  We think, gosh these people on these Visas are taking work away from American workers.  This has got to stop!

Brad Henry (OK) is not.  I think he knows better after the pressure he got over HB1804.  Henry will term limit out in 2010 and the word is he plans to upset Tom Coburn for the US Senate.

 ROTFL

Not only is Dr. Tom very popular, but Henry is stained because of some straw doner scandals floating around the state.

GET CONGRESS ATTENTION! CHANGE YOUR W-4 AT WORK AND CLAIM 10 DEPENDENTS SO NO TAXES WILL BE TAKEN FROM YOUR PAYCHECK. WHEN THE MONEY STOPS COMING IN MAYBE THEY WILL REMEMBER THEY ARE SERVANTS TO WE THE PEOPLE.

Sent a letter and fax to WA governor.  Funny, her site is full of how hard she's trying to work to improve JOBS for Washingtonians.  I asked her about that too!

Gregoire is gung-ho for globalization.  She is also setting Washington up as one the RealID test states.

I can't believe Gov. Crist of FL. isn't on the list, but then how long has it been around?  I'm sure more will be adding their names to the list unless they hear from their consituents, loud and clear!  Sonny Perdue, of GA.will certainly be hearing from me!

Through Numbers USA - I sent two letters to "Mr. Terminator" - here is one of them:

Dear Governor Schwarzenegger,

You've go to decide if you are on the side of Big Business or the American worker.  The H-1 B visas you are asking for may increase corporate profits, but they will also decimate the American workforce in our state.

There is no documented proof of the need for more H1-B visas.  To the contrary, salaries at Microsoft are not keeping up with inflation and Microsoft has been asking its software developer to take furloughs so the firm can save money.  This suggests there is no labor shortage, and thus no need for more H1-Bs.

Stop supporting Big Business as usual and try putting working and middle class people first for a change.

Phone me if you would like to talk about this.

PS:  I can't believe my husband and I supported you.  What a huge disappointment.  My husband is in the IS field (information systems) and I can't even tell you the harm the H-1B visa programs have done to American college educated workers who are in this field of work.  I am speechless how you are NOT "setting the example" in regards to honoring our country's sovereignty, but this takes the cake!

We need to RAIN ICE on these Governors.

I thot gregiore was flatly against the read ID, that she turned it down as too expensive to implement from the get go?  But that said, I really am sorry (and I was a life long democrat) that she was elected to office, it was another one of those elections where you close your eyes and pick a canidate you feel is the least creepy of a dirtball!!  I hate have NO choices anymore!

I did see her hanging off Vincente Fox's rear end when he visited here a year/two ago along with our democratic senators, they treated him like he was rock star!  Unbelievable--that is when I turned to an 'independant' voter after 30+ years of being democrat!  Lets hope the Repubs of the state can get some decent qualified people (other than an ex insurance exec who rewarded himsefl to the tune of $25 mill when he laid of thousands of workers) who believe jobs here belong to AMERICANS rather than cheap imports or illegals!

Very good letter--and again, let me remind everyone that Bill Gates was made the richest man in the world for a decade based on his AMERICAN workers, now, he says he can't find qualified American workers??  Isn't that odd???  And, the same holds true for the silicon valley companies, they made HUGE fortunes these past 10-15 years based on AMERICAN workers, and now they are shutting them out to hire cheaper labor elsewhere--what a disgrace to those companies and the govs that believe these lies!

VeeBee - I could not agree more.  He started in the garage of his parents home and now thanks to hard working American citizens he is the 2nd riches man in the world.  So how does he say thank you??????

He tells them to shove off and starts taking his company to Canada and begins to push his workers out the door for "making too much".

Well I say to him - you make to much.

Someone needs to push him out of a company and see how good the long fall down feels.  You know that saying "what goes around comes around"

Well his "comes around" could not come soon enough for me!!!

His entire attitude and gall just amazes me anyway, he has a wife and two  (?) children in a house that is 45,000 sq feet, and only THREE bedrooms in that entire house, so he petitioned the city/county to  be able to INCREASE the size of his house because it was too small for him and his family!!!  Booo Hoooo Hooooo!!  And this is the guy we are supposed to be admiring him for giving all this money to africa???  If he truely can't find "qualified" people, then he has enough money to go to 2-3 colleges around the country, donate a chunk of change and get them to establish a bunch of classes to TRAIN Americans in what he needs, there is not a college who would turn him down with a large donation, and then maybe his BILLIONS, most of which he made here in America, could do something good for AMERICANS rather than people in africa for a change!

No, I never, EVER hesitate in any email regarding H1B visas to remind any elected official that he was made the richest man in the world for a decade on the backs of his AMERICAN workers.  And he paid well, if he doesn't like the pay scale, he has no one to blame but himself since HE wanted to domiate the industry and gave his employees higher wages/benefits/perks to steal them from say, Apple and other high tech companies--HIS FAULT!!  He would not more live in an average sized American house (1200 sq ft) now, so why does he expect his American employees to have to downsize their wages based on HIS desire to regain "richest man in the world" title???

Veebee - I had no idea his house was only 45,000 sq feet- how does he manage?  poor thing!

UMM just what did Warren Buffett, who has lived in the same house for 45 years see in him?

Warren Buffett seems so "American" compared to his friend Bill.

You know if he would just stop pounding the little guys because he wants MORE MORE MORE - the new Brittany song should be the new Bill Gates song - Gimme More H-1B visas.

Someone needs to call his ass on the line!
