Clear Act - Denies Funds to Sanctuary Cities

Alert! CLEAR Act denies funds to sanctuary cities!
 
HR 3494, introduced by Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), would implement a system for identifying and removing violent criminal illegal immigrants and would deny certain federal funds to "sanctuary cities" that protect violent criminal aliens.

This legislation would:

• Require DHS to take an alien into custody within 48 hours

• Affirm that state and local law enforcement officials have existing authority to assist in enforcing immigration law during the course of their routine duties.

• Deny State Criminal Alien Assistance Program funding to "sanctuary cities" that refuse to assist with immigration enforcement.

Does this deny emergency funds? If it does, then I cannot support it.

I sent a few myself, wish this congress would get on the stick and start standing up for Americans for a change of pace!!  This is a good first step.

If you have to hyphenate your race--you are NOT an American!! This from a French-German-English-Irish-AMERICAN! See how silly this can become?

Now imagine that. We have to pass another law to make them obey and enforce the first law...lol. This is rediculous and confusion. Just sue the idiots for not obeying the first law and trying to force others not to. Another law wont do any more then the first one.

I know!  There IS a Federal law, but some kind of article 40 got attached to it that exempts some cities somehow, I think.  A Guiliani thing when he was Mayor.  I'm really confused about it, but the Reps and Senators submit bills all the time that never go anywhere.  It's more to make their point, because when they really want to get something accomplished, the don't let it rest... they keep fighting.

In mid June the House passed an amendment to the Homeland Security Appropriations bill H.R. 2638 with an amendment by Congressman Tancredo that would do that.  Deny funding to sanctuary cities.  It was the 8th time he had offered this amendment to various other legislation.

On August 1, the Senate approved the bill, but added a couple of amendments of their own and sent the bill back to the House.  I cannot find any further action on that bill.  msnancy is sitting on it, I guess.
