Gen. David Petraeus, the U.S. commander in Iraq, has recommended that no decision be made for six months on major troop withdrawals, The New York Times said.
Citing American officials, the newspaper reported Sunday Petraeus has informed President George W. Bush that troop cuts in Iraq may begin in December -- but such cuts would only involve one combat brigade, or about 4,000 troops
People who believe that there is no major world conspiracy which involves a small number of people manipulating humanity through a hierarchical structure of control toward a New World Order, all have one identical factor in common. They have, in actual fact, not looked genuinely into the abundance of well-researched information on world conspiracy to see if there is one! - David Icke http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7a9Syi...
I find it sickening that the MSM and the democrats put so much negative spin on the war. In my opinion they are doing more to help the enemy than our own country.
Why won't anyone say the word......Treason..... Even OBL is for a Hillary, Obama ticket for President. What does that say? The Dems demand us to not question their Patriotism.......Well, if the shoe fits. Will it take another 9-ll for us to finally come together and fight this war against these evil terrorist. Let's get together and stop this political correctness and fight these radicals. I believe Reid, Kerry, Durbin (the turbin), Pelosi, Kennedy are traitors. The words that come out of OBL's mouth have come out of the mouth of those leaders. When are we going to wake up. I know those leaders are mouthing the words of the radical left like Move On and the Huffington Post, but for God's sake people, the radicals will kill you too.
Last night on CNN I also heard another general saying the Irakies are not ready yet and it will take us to be there for at leas another 1 to 1-1/2 years. I know most of you are sick and tired of this but remember, we are dealing with extremist muslims and not witht he Iraki people as Tom Tancredo mentioned in the Republican Debate.
A Peek at What General Petreaus's Report Might Look Like
Rick Moran
Respected milblogger Austin Bay makes gives us some intelligent speculation on what might be in the report given by General Petreaus when he goes before Congress next month.
In addition to what one might expect in such a report - levels of violence, numbers of trained troops, etc., there may also be some interesting political metrics that Petreaus will highlight to show progress.
Here are a few of the metrics Bay speculates Petreaus might use:
(3) Number and locale of police precincts judged competent and minimally corrupt (and don’t mention Chicago to me — I know minimally corrupt applies to places in the US — like every Texas border town)
(4) Number of “extremist violence” related incidents (incline, steady, or decline) and location of incidents
(5) An assessment of the “demonstrated commitment” of key sheiks and local leaders in terms of cooperating with security forces and development teams – perhaps analyzed on a neighborhood by neighborhood level.
(9) Competence of key ministry officials and senior department heads — Interior and Defense — as well as an estimate of their commitment to a free, federal Iraq, [This leads to an assessment of provincial and national leaders commitment…)
(10) “Infrastructure protection” trend lines — are power lines, pipelines, key installations being protected?
Since so many lawmakers have already decided whether the surge is working or not - especially Democrats - Petreaus's report is probably going to have to knock their socks off in order to change many minds. Given the news over the last 6 weeks coming out Iraq, he has a chance of doing just that.
Surrender is not an option. Have you forgotten that Islamic extremists are at war with us? Iraq is just one front on a world-wide battlefield.
Mr T go to the forum elections 2008 then click on the thread "Bin Laden Tells" (Not to listen to this idiot) click on thread by FJ45LVR , and take some time to listen to the message after you click on his link , for your own well being and better sleep at night .

exactly , but so many have been scared so much by those who give Bin Laden so much credit . Every message he sends , he goes back into his cave and LHAOROTF . He is playing mind games and the poor people with no moxy let him win the mind war .
Vote Responsibly and if you don't vote don't complain around me .
Now, however, 18 months after entering Iraq, I see tangible progress. Iraqi security elements are being rebuilt from the ground up.
The institutions that oversee them are being reestablished from the top down. And Iraqi leaders are stepping forward, leading their country and their security forces courageously in the face of an enemy that has shown a willingness to do anything to disrupt the establishment of the new Iraq.
The above quote is from Gen. Petraeus THREE YEARS AGO.

When did not supporting an undeclared war based on faulty intelligence resulting in 1000's of American soldiers deaths and a even more unstable middle east - resort to "unpatriotism"?
A firm, unconditional, unwaivering blind faith in any government is risky.
It is important for Americans (Republicans and Democrats alike) to question government - doing so keeps our leaders in check and accountable for their actions - good or bad.
"If tyranny and oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy. Of all the enemies to public liberty, war is perhaps the most to be dreaded because it comprises and develops the germ of every other. War is the parent of armies; from these proceed debts and taxes; and armies, and debts, and taxes are the known instruments for bringing the many under the domination of the few. The loss of liberty at home is to be charged to the provisions against danger, real or imagined, from abroad." -- James Madison
Rep. Tom Lantos (D-CA) ,before Gen. Petraeus even began to speak, told him that "we aren't buying what you are going to say" calling him a liar. How completely outrageous. I consider him a commie and a traitor, just like Reid, Pelosi, Schummer, Murtha, etc.
Duncan Hunter spoke after him and told the General how he had been trashed by the media and the Dims for a week before this hearing. He was eloquent and wonderful. I wish that he had a snowballs chance at the nomination.
General Petraeus went on to say that there has been substantial progress in Iraq. We will be able to send one brigade home by the first of next year and reduce the troop level by about 30,000 by next summer.

MoveOn.org says ‘General Petraeus is a traitor': Do Democrats in Congress agree?
Veterans call on MoveOn.org allies in Congress to denounce anti-Petraeus ad Washington, D.C. (September 10th 2007) - Pete Hegseth, executive director of Vets for Freedom and Iraq War veteran, issued the following statement.
"Today - as General David Petraeus provides his Iraq assessment to Congress - the anti-war group, MoveOn.org, is running a full - page advertisement in the New York Times with the headline: General Petraeus or General Betray us? Cooking the books for the White House.
"Let's be clear: MoveOn.org is suggesting that General Petraeus has 'betrayed' his country. This is disgusting. To attack as a traitor an American general commanding forces in war, because his ‘on the ground' experience does not align with MoveOn.org's political objectives, is utterly shameful. It shows contempt for America's military leadership, as well as for the troops who have confidence in him, as our fellow soldiers in Iraq certainly do.
"General Petraeus has served this country for over 35 years with honor, distinction, and integrity. And this is not just about General Petraeus. After all, if General Petraeus is "cooking the books," then the entire military chain of command in Baghdad, and all the staff, military and civilian, who have been working with General Petraeus are complicit, since Petraeus did not write his report in isolation. They are all, apparently, 'betray[ing] us.'
"MoveOn.org has been working closely with the Democratic congressional leadership - as an article in today's Sunday New York Times Magazine makes clear. And consider this comment by a Democratic senator from Friday's Politico: "'No one wants to call [Petraeus] a liar on national TV,' noted one Democratic senator, who spoke on the condition on anonymity. ‘The expectation is that the outside groups will do this for us.'
"So, veterans who served in Iraq ask the Democratic leaders in Congress: Does MoveOn.org speak for you? Do you agree with MoveOn.org? Or do you repudiate this despicable charge?
"MoveOn.org has helped frame the core choice: Whom do we trust to run this war - MoveOn.org and its allies in Congress, or Gen. David Petraeus and his colleagues?"

Just think about it - - - if you have a bunch of flies in the yard - you set up a bug zapper. What better bug zapper can you get than Iraq. We have lost a total now of just about half the men that died in ONE DAY (D-Day) in World War II. But so many of the insurgents flock to Iraq because they cannot stand the idea of the Americans (infidels to them) being in one of their countries. I say keep the bug zapper going so that they will consentrate on that.
We would lose a disasterously lot more people (not just military) if the bug zapper stops and they start consentrating on the USA and on our soil.

Oooooo, bug zapper! I like that----great analogy.

FireWing - - Thanks - - wish I could honestly take full credit for that. The term was originally used by my husband - - I just capitalized on it. It just fits too well.
Still the comparison of, what - - approx. 5000 lost now in Iraq (on our side - many times that on theirs) and we compare that to a number of 9,758 (found that stat on line) from the one day of D-Day. People whine and moan and wring their hands - - but we are at war, and I think that we have done remarkedly well at preserving life for our soilders under the circumstances. Thank goodness - - 'cause I have a grandson over there.

Have you not been paying attention to why we are in Iraq? Even Clinton said they had weapons of mass distruction. Forget that? Everyone voted to go into Iraq. Now the Bush haters choose to ignore the facts as we knew them back then. Get a backbone and stand up for this fight against these terrorist, where ever they are. Bush will be out soon, get some sleep and shut up and he will be gone soon. Then who will you hate. America? Seems that way. Who do you really hate. The terrorist who want to kill all of us because of their religion or concervatives who you don't agree with. I think it's the concervatives. We just won't let you get away with all your progressive movements. Just like Cindy Sheehan today, we will shut you up and throw you out.
