"A B-52 bomber was mistakenly loaded with five nuclear warheads during a flight from North Dakota to Louisiana, a newspaper reported Wednesday."

More on the story here.

Bush is probably so pissed at real Americans, I guess we're lucky he didn't decide to nuke us in order to make more room for mexicans.

More likely a scare tactic to get us in line. If it was truly a mistake we never would have heard about it.

Please, do you guys honestly think the US military is going to nuke the USA? If they destroy our country they all go down with us. Maybe if we stopped coming up with all of these conspiracies we could put some of this energy into finding real solutions to real problems.

Actually, T, my post was made tongue in cheek. That said, apart from nuking us, I do think Bush, the Republican establishment, and the Democrats would not hesitate to shoot American citizens to bring them into line.  You really ought to read CAMP OF THE SAINTS.  But I guess you're one of those folks who steadfastly believe "it can't happen here," because, after all, you live here.  Surprise! It can.

No good. I've asked him a couple of times already to put up his own solutions, instead of criticizing the rest of us, and he hasn't  replied--except to say that Bush is a good president.

bob graham:

First: Cool it with the conspiracy theories. 911, the bus bombings in London, the train bombing in Madrid were carried out by Islamic jihadists. They were not some plan by the government to further a political agenda. Our armed forces catch enough heat from the liberal left (Murtha, Kerry ect...) they don't need to hear it from us too. Feeding into the conspiracy theories undermines their mission.

Second: Our borders should be secure because we have a right to do so as a sovereign nation. Saying derogatory things about Mexico and Mexicans only hurts our cause.

Who is hurting what cause when a nut case like Calderon does this

Visit http://cnn.com/loudobbstonight to read Lou’s
latest commentary on the blatant hypocrisy of Mexican President
Felipe Calderon, who demanded this weekend the United States
surrender its sovereignty, abandon the rule of law and accede
to Mexico's inherent supremacy.

A follow-up on the controversial comments made by Mexican
President Felipe Calderon, who used a recent speech to condemn
U.S. immigration policy and vow to defend Mexican citizens
wherever they reside. Political analysts say the comments were
a political tactic aimed at uniting a deeply divided country.
We’ll have that report.

All good ideas Mr T , so give me the plan Stan , we'll deploy ,  Roy . But Calderons statements seem almost an open invitation to if not a full declaration of war .

John Larson:

Yes, Calderon is hurting his cause. Good, we can see him for who he is. We do not need to stoop to his level. We can do what is right and legal. If other citizens see that a large number of Americans are acting rationally and in good conscience we can bring a more powerful message to our politicians.

Back to the nuke issue , as long as this is still a forum where ideas are disseminated , IMHO . This news leaks out at an oportunistic time , after China and Russia just completed war games and we are stretched way too thin on troops , equipment and allies to respond in like fashion . I can't remember the military being so fast on reporting any misdeeds?? Just opining ........

Yes sorry, I think we did get off topic.

You might be right bob, maybe the nuke thing was to send a message to China or Russia. Who knows? Or maybe it was just a mistake.

A mighty fortuitous mistake I would say . Though we admit to it on a world wide scale and apologize for it , it is much like administering a " BUMP " to a thread , just for reminding and keeping our might in sight . All things being relative , IMHO.

Bob we appear to be in ageement that it is highly unusual for the military to report anything so fast. This was not a mistake it was an intended "news leak" for whatever purpose.

We were sending a message to Russia and China. You guys are right. We are sort of like a pitcher with a 97 MPH fastball and no control. I think they got the message.

Hey, lets be glad that so far, Bushie and his cronies have not decided that flying nukes across the country is a job for illegal mexicans!!  Just another one of those jobs Americans won't do....  Tongue out

On a more serious note, how can you "ACCIDENTALLY" load up 5 nukes and fly them across the country?????????????

If you have to hyphenate your race--you are NOT an American!! This from a French-German-English-Irish-AMERICAN! See how silly this can become?

I do wish we had someone in charge, that had some common sense, or that cared about America.

It's bad when they just leave nuclear war heads laying around for anyone to load on a plane and fly them over the Heart of the U.S.

Someone is not doing their job.

Lots of someones.
