On October 11, 2000 George W. Bush said, "I don't think our troops ought to be used for what's called nation-building. I think our troops ought to be used to fight and win war."
In January 2003, President Bush was presented with two post-invasion plans for Iraq. One, authored by the Defense Department, called for a hard and fast invasion, establishment of a provisional government in Baghdad, and an exit from Iraq in very few months, to enable our forces to deal with the neighboring state sponsors of terrorism, Iran and Syria. The other, authored by the State Department and the CIA, was for the extended occupation and nation-building in Iraq.
In between was 9-11, and George Bush’s conversion to the neocon “strategy” to fight the war we’re in.
"The government's view of the economy can be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it." - Ronald Reagan

An astute observation , sir . I am so glad someone else is seeing the full picture and realizes we have been duped and a lot of the Worlds finest soldiers have perished . I have often times wondered , just which part of which holy book had been used to decide whether we would call idiocy right or left and if it is still out to the jury waiting to see if there will be a flip flop on the scale of George Bush's magnitude and frequency .
Vote Responsibly and if you don't vote don't complain around me .

mesler,
His 2000 quote was exactly the reason I voted for him along with his federalist stance. I was duped, I should've voted for Buchanan. In 2004 I voted for Bush only because I was voting against Kerry. Again I was duped and should've voted for Michael Badnarik or Michael Peroutka.
I was not aware they had two plans for Iraq. Now the Mussolini candidate Rudy even talks about a dept. of NATION BUILDING in his debates and this is the guy that we're going to get that's going to be a dictator and use all of the authoritarian loopholes that Bush opened up for a REAL dictator warmonger.
It's Ron Paul or Hillary Clinton. I have the strong feeling of a Hillary/Rudy ticket to try to grab some Republicans to vote for them over the Ron Paul/Walter Williams ticket. Very scary thought of those two in there!

When all is said and done, in: do the job: out is not very profitable. Look at the billions of our tax dollars being spent to further enrich the global elite (through Haliburton and other such contractors). No one can seriously think they would turn their back on that kind of opportunity by just doing the job properly, not when you consider who is involved in Haliburton.

You wonder about things until you start to realize the reality of what is happening.......voluntary enlistment is down and they are actually using a pitch of offering citizenship to ILLEGALS for 2 year service!!!!
This has to be enough to turn most any duped hawk on GRASSFIRE!!! Unless they are going to BLAME Americans for not volunteering to go fight and die for IRAQ to have a democratic government (stable for Exxon's oil contracts).
Hey!!! they're even offering FREE I-PODS if you sign up NOW!!! whoooo hoooo.
With hearts fortified with these animating reflections, we most solemnly, before God and the world, declare, that, exerting the utmost energy of those powers, which our beneficent Creator hath graciously bestowed upon us, the arms we have been compelled by our enemies to assume, we will, in defiance of every hazard, with unabating firmness and perseverence, employ for the preservation of our liberties; being with one mind resolved to die freemen rather than to live slaves
