CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Immigration and Customs agents raided several Charlotte-area apartment complexes last week, resulting in 74 arrests and, subsequently, 74 deportations.

The roundup has many illegal immigrants on edge.

"These are hard-working people that only want to work," said Angela Feliciano after dozens of her neighbors were arrested. "A lot of us are scared. Many neighbors are afraid to leave their homes; they say, 'They're not going to catch me.'"

Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory has a different opinion of the situation.

“We need to deal with them immediately and deport them,” he said. "A lot of these people may be good, hard-working people, but the fact of the matter is they've broken the law.”

He said illegal immigrants, regardless of their work status, hurt Charlotte in countless ways.

ICE officials said the raids were planned months in advance and will continue.

It's also going on all over Texas.  I spoke with a ICE agent yesterday and she told me people are going to be really surprised at how many raids and deportations are going to start happening all across the country.  I asked her if she was just telling me what I'd like to hear or if it's true.  I also told her about all the naysayers at FS.  She just laughed and told me that the naysayers will need to read the newspapers and watch the news because it's begun and it's going to keep going.  Then she asked me if I had any credible information on large companies I know of where illegals are working.  I gave her a list I've been keeping and she thanked me.

Great news bwwhaley! I went yesterday to DMV to renew my driver's license and I was very surprise to see americans at DMV and only 2 latinos waiting in line.  You are talking about the whole center full of americans and some chinese people.  I just couldn't believe it! Now I regret my cellphone does not have a camera or I'll record this event.  I was wondering what happen with all the illegal aliens that are threaten to take this country back.  Where did they go? What happen with all their swearing and moaning against americans! I guess they finally realize we are not going to play games with them and we have ICE all over them! They are scare to death to even stick their heads out of their windows from being spotted by ICE.

I'll send my thank you note to ICE because despite of Chertoff, they are doing a great job in listening to the american people.  I believe they are doing this more aggressively because they are showing the puppets we have in Congress that with or without their help/support they are doing the job our Senators don't want to do.

As has been said many times before, it means nothing until criminal illegal alien employers also feel the sting of huge fines and prison time.

Others have suggested, and rightly so, that, unless illegal alien criminal employers are targeted, the illegal aliens will just go underground until the "heat" is off.

EE,

Who would enact or pass legislation that would bring about these big fines and penalties?

Wake up and smell the coffee.  This was passed in 1986, i. e. IRCA 1986 (Immigration and Reform Control Act-previous to passage called Simpson-Mazzoli).

http://www.oig.lsc.gov/legis/irca86.htm

Anyone who reads this, please take the time to follow the link.  This Act specifically spells out the penalties, articulated in the post Mr. T replied to.  It is the President's responsibility to see to it that employers are given a reliable way to identify whether prospective employees are who they say they are.  Since 1986 employers have used this loophole (excuse relating to their inability to certify document authenticity) to evade prosecution by seeing to it that current/past presidents did not close the loophole.

It is believed that Mr. T, like many others who invade this forum that don't want to see this loophole closed, like to plead ignorance of this law.  Follow it (the link), Mr. T, since any further statements of this nature by you will be further proof that you wish to evade the specifics of IRCA 1986.

There are, currently, 3669 employers in 49 states that have been reported.  This is a project of the FIRE Society, as well.  Some, like IFCO Systems and the Swift Company are reported on this site, which have been the subject of raids by ICE.  These were, however, just PR raids, in that the company principles never paid any other penalty than having to open their employment office to legal prospective employees.  The violations were so egregious that company officers should have received huge fines, and criminal prosecution under IRCA 1986.

That is why many of us believe that it will take front page photos of criminal illegal alien employers manacled on their way to prison to believe any of the current statements of "cracking down" are serious.

No offense intended, but I don't think you've ever worked in any "law enforcement" capacity. When an agent ask for credible information they are asking without having to explain it if you personally have any firsthand knowledge which would hold up in a court of law and to which you can truthfully testify under oath. They could care less about internet links, suspicions, feelings, opinions...just the facts, just the facts.

Are you saying this is not a credible site?  Why don't you report those on your list to this site?  During the process you will find that you'll need to also allow your post to be reported to the FBI.  Besides, your time would be much better spent on posts of this nature, as would that of the ICE agent you say you are in contact with.  Maybe you could make the post, and then just have the ICE agent visit the site of your post to retrieve the information.  Most of us feel these ICE agents would rather spend most of their time with their feet up on the desk disparaging anything that would require them to actually carry out their mission.

It is apparent that you did not investigate the link you were given.  Why is that?  Anyone in a relevant law enforcement capacity could ascertain that many of the posts on the link you were provided have reasonable suspicion attached to them.  (Would you say that is also the case with your list, should you post?)  There are names of people, addresses, phone numbers; company names, company owners, officers, managers, addresses, phone numbers and Internet links; phony social security number listings, aliases linking particular illegal aliens, etc, etc.

You apparently think this portion of the Fire Society has credibility with you.  What makes  you think there is absolutely no credibility with the other site, as that appears to be your position?

bwwhaley:

I haven't met you yet but can you please ask your ICE agent to come to Dalton, GA?  The citizens here are fed up with the local corruption here.  Our three big carpet manufacturers bused them in years ago and continue to pander to them and the homegrown here are moving out in record numbers.  We have a RICO case expected to go to trial soon and it has been kept very quietly covered up.  Please ask her to come to Dalton GA and get Pilgrim's Pride, Shaw Industries, Mohawk Industries (RICO) and Beaulieu of America.  Our children are dying in gangs, schools are now 95% hispanic and that is just the beginning.  Please help us as we are drowning here.  Thank you!

Please read this below:

Any help you can give us would help tremendously as none of the town's leaders care to listen to us as their pockets have been lined for so long.

Thank you for the insightful news, bww, and for reporting suspicious criminal wrongdoing.  I'll certainly be reading and watching intently.

EE,

I am wide awake and just had a strong cup of coffee. I suggest that you do the same before you read my post. First of all, I wanted information as to what we as concerned citizens could do to see that the laws are enforced. I was in no way stating that I wanted illegal aliens to be given preference over American citizens. I come to you asking for advice and information and all you do is criticize me. If you are truly working to help American workers then I strongly suggest that when someone comes to you and asks what they can do to help, or would you please provide me with more information, that you do so without the critique.

I am having a hard time believing that you care about what you profess and that maybe YOU are here just to argue with others and disrupt the flow of information to those that seek it on this site. If you truly believe in what you say, I suggest the next time someone comes to you asking advice on how to keep Americans employed at a strong wage, and how to keep jobs in America ect.... that you provide them with the information and be happy that they came to seek your advice.

Mr. T, the fellow reminds me of a woman at work.  A mealy mouth.  Harps all the time about the same things.  No solutions, just complaints and finger pointing.  We ignore her.  When she comes into the break room we get up and leave.  Summer is coming to a close.  Some squirrel will probably pick the fellow up and stow him away for the winter with all the other nuts its collected.

And did you follow the link?

http://www.wehirealiens.com/

What did you learn?  Apparently nothing, as there is no statement that would substantiate that you have.

This country, whether you realize it or not, is in dire straits on the issue of illegal immigration.  Many of us realize we don't have the time to deal with those who are too self-centered to follow the advice given to them, but would rather claim personal affront to avoid the issues and solutions presented.  Perhaps this is part of a pro-illegal immgration agenda on your part.  That is difficult to prove, but has many of the earmarks of being the case.

Just in the event that you are able to get beyond the criticism, perhaps you can also go to the following link to learn about existing immigration law:

http://www.oig.lsc.gov/legis/irca86.htm

Here you will find that it is the President, including all past and possibly future ones, that are bound by IRCA 1986 to provide employers with a reliable verification sytem for the immigration status of prospective employees.  That means that employers have NO excuse for having been scammed all these many years by illegal alien identity thieves, other than the fact that they wanted to keep the excuse (loophole) intact so they could continue to employ illegal alien labor.
