We need to have a site where all the people who are fighting the illegal immigration issue will come, so that we can get a better idea of how many of us there really are.  I know that I belong to several groups, but I don't really know how many people agree with my stand.  We are all furiously fighting the same thing but, in all different directions, which is good.  However, we also need to know that there is one place where we can all go to give our opinions on the next election and find out how many we really are.  I don't think anyone really knows.  I am proposing that a national ad could be run, frequently, letting everyone know where they can go to sign up.   Fox News would probably run the ad, and during Lou Dobbs program would be a good start.

There must be a way to guarantee that each of us is a bonafide citizen, before we are allowed to post anything.  What does Steve Elliott, William Gheen, Roy Beck, Michelle Malkin and the Minutemen think of all this?

We need to march in our cities. But we have to have thousands or millions. That is what will get the attention.  The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Well, I've been saying that for a long time, but we are told that it takes money, and unfortunately La Raza and Maldef have it!  We also need to have a TV spot that will promote a march in D.C. long before it happens.  I got interested in late May, but we had already made several trips before I found out about the one that was planned.  I did attend the Atlanta one on June 16th and that was fun!

Contact GailM and FeathersFlying as they have been suggesting just the same! Gail does an awesome amount of research and will be more than happy to work with you. I would love to work with Roy Beck's group as he is the "father" of all the information anyone uses just about!

This is a very good idea PatrioticPatti.  Perhaps it could be constructed like a shopping mall where there would just be links to the participating sites.  A good example of what it might look like are the comparison shopping sites.

 http://www.pricingcentral.com/

This is also going on to a certain extent by FireSociety Partners, WeHireIllegals.com being one of them.

The problem might be, as you've mentioned, the monitoring.  However, if the umbrella site was just a director to the participating sites, then the monitoring would be the responsibility of the destination link.

Please post any information you might get on progress.

Thanks

We don't need new "comprehensive" immigration laws. We need widespread, well funded enforcement of existing immigration law, i. e. IRCA 1986. http://www.oig.lsc.gov/legis/irca86.htm ANYTHING ELSE IS JUST A BIG CHARADE! Well it wouldn't be where we would just have a link to other sites, because we pretty much have that already.  That is just my point though.  If you go to one site you can hopscotch over to many different sites and sign up to many different groups.  I want ONE site that is strictly for signing up to one time, after being verified that you are a legal citizen that can vote.  I want to find out how many there are in this cause.  Many of us sign on to several groups, as I have.  If there were ONE site that would make sure you are counted, as a member, you could also list the many groups you are afiliated with, so that this umbrella site could contact those other groups, but the umbrella group would only count you once, so we could take a count.  There would have to be a way to verify that you are a citizen plus a data base that would make sure there are no duplicate names.

By the way, I forgot to mention that I posted another thread for this same idea, under 2008 Elections because this one wasn't getting much notice.  I don't know how to delete this one, but the other thread has gotten a lot more response.

Your other thread seems to be locked.  An attempt to post to it seemed to take, but again disappeared into the ether.  However, a little insurance, called Microsoft Word, was used this time in order to save content.  Please have Fire socity delete the other thread so other posters don't have the same experience.

As previously stated, probably the best way to start such an umbrella project would be to post all the websites that are involved with stopping illegal immigration.  This should encompass those targeting employers, as well as illegal immigrants and their support groups (La Raza and Mecha, for example).  This would provide a common point of entry.

Your suggestion of having such a site as a single signup point may be difficult to implement from a logistical standpoint.  It would mean that there would have to be agreements made with all the sites to do so, and the programming required for implementing the agreements.  This would not be an insignificant task.

EE has contacted and attempted to have a Fire Society Partner, WeHireIllegals.com, to utilize the programming talents of another website started by those impacted by the outsourcing of programming, OutSourceCongress.org.  While contacts were made between the two entities, no agreement took place.  WeHireIllegals website still has problems for those who post there, in that there is no way to paragraph posts.  If you can imagine a rather long post with no paragraphs, you can understand the problem.  The post is not likely to be read.  On top of that, in cases where lists are posted, it is impossible to create columnized lists, and all list entries get run together in continuous lines, making the content unintelligible.  Also, there is no way to make corrections.  Once a post is submitted it is like being cast in stone, so, even if the suggested corrections to paragraphs were made, unless editing was allowed, previous posts would still remain unintelligible.

This example is brought forward to demonstrate the sort of problems that would likely be faced when trying to get cooperative agreements between website organizations.  That is why it would be better to try to start out with a site that only provides links to other sites at first, then work on the agreements that would be required to enhance the usability for those who visit such a megasite.

One way this could be started right here on Fire Society would be to start a forum thread where the thread author would post their own known illegal immigration website links.  From that point the author could request others to contribute new links and the forum author could edit the original post with the new links as they are submitted.

Graciela Sandt has done something similar with her Sanctuary Cities listing.  One problem with it is that it does not provide enough information for those who read the list to contact the sanctuary city mayors, i. e., email addresses.  In all probability many potential contacts with city mayors are thus never made.  While this would put an extra burden on Graciela, there would undoubtedly be a leveraged payback in contacts with city mayors.  Graciela posts many articles of interest on Fire Society, which she could consider reducing in favor of this added information to her Sanctuary Cities listing.  The payback on this could be enormous in terms of its ultimate effect.

The above are provided as strategies and issues to consider when creating such a megasite.  Hopefully, those who read this post will come up with even better ways to reach the objective.

I don't care about the other thread since it received little notice.  I do not know how to delete it.  Several people have said this is a good idea but for me it is only an idea.  I do not have the tech knowledge to implement it.  I just think that Steve Elliott needs to work with Roy Beck, William Gheen, Michelle Malkin,The Minuteman groups, and probably many others to make sure we have the correct numbers, and not overlaps with people signing up to many different groups.  Otherwise, we will think our numbers are much larger than they really are.  I think that this is important, to know how much clout we would have as a voting bloc.

Let's get a start here.  Inexplanation, in case you, or anyone who reads this, is not aware, any link to any site can be copied and pasted into a post. On this PC there are many links in the Favorites area (Internet Explorer) to illegal immigration.  Either these Favorites can be copied into a post here on Fire Society, or a link from the Address bar can be copied, and pasted into a FS post.

If you were to start a new thread, dedicated directly to this issue, the thread would undoubtedly go on for many months, or years, as people added their link information.  You could then copy the information they provided to you onto your very first post on the subject, thus allowing the list to grow and keeping it up front in one place.

You might create a table thusly:

 Web Site Name

 Web Site Link

 Description

 Other

 IllegalAliensUS

 http://www.illegalaliens.us/euphemisms.htm

 enforcement

 NumbersUSA

 http://www.numbersusa.com/index

 current news

 ReportIllegals

 http://www.reportillegals.com/

 reporting

 WeHireAliens

 http://www.wehirealiens.com/

 post reports

The above table was created with the tools provided by Fire Society.  If you do not have the full set of tools, just go to your profile page.  This can be found by logging in then at the top banner select, My Account > then Edit Profile.  Under the Edit  Profile page is a checkbox and a line titled: "Enable Advanced Editor?"  When this box is checked you will get a full set of editing tools that allows you to create a table, among other things.  Just place your mouse pointer within the Editing Tools area on each Icon.  A textual description of each will appear, in case the Icon doesn't seem self explanatory.

As people reply to your post with new sites you can add another row of "cells" to your table in which you can put the information.

Hey Employers Employers, you need to enable Private Messages!

On the link bar click on "My Account" and then "Edit Profile" and then check the box that allows you to receive PM's.

Thanks for the suggestion, but other commitments on time have been maxed out, and therefore it has been decided not to include PM's.
