On Jan 11, 2007, China's Feng-Yun 1C (FY-1C)  weather sattelite orbiting 537 miles above the Earth was knocked out by a medium range ballistic missile fired by the 2nd Artillery Battalion of the Peoples Liberation Army. Sept. 27, 2006 Defense News reported that a U.S. reconnaissance satellite was blinded by a laser while in orbit over China. The Air Force Times- "U.S. officials are questioning why some Chinese satellites are in orbits that bring them close to key U.S. satellites."  Pentagon China consultant Michael Pillsbury told the Air Force Times that Chinese "... documents advocate multiple approaches to preemptive strikes on satellites from plasma clouds, pellets, directed energy weapons, orbiting spacecraft, and attacking ground stations with special forces." Since we have transitioned to GPS guided precision munitions like  the Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) from earlier systems; we have become somewhat dependent on them. 60% of the munitions used in Iraq were GPS guided.

Air Force Lt. General Robert Kehler, deputy commander of the U.S. Strategic Command stated that, "If our space capabilities are taken away, the U.S. military begins to go back in time."

China has increased military spending by 17.8% according to the Peoples Daily, which will bring their official military spending to $45 billion.

They have purchased 4 advanced Russian built Sovremenny class destroyers equipped with the deadly, evasive, and supersonic SS-N-22 anti-ship missiles. Ukranian officials hope that the Chinese Navy will be interested in buying the 10,000 ton Slava class cruiser UKRAINA according to the Russian paper Kommersant. They operate a number of stealthy Kilo class diesel-electric subs. They are introducing a new class of nuclear powered attack subs and nuclear powered ballistic missile subs. This new type of sub is reported to carry multiple warhead nuclear missiles. They currently have the world's largest Army with 2.3 million soldiers. They have acquired updated versions of the Su-27, the best fighter to come out of the Sukhoi design bureau.

The Dept. of Defense analysis  "Military Power and the Peoples Republic of China, 2006" - "Several aspects of China's developement have surprised U.S. analysts, including the pace and scope of it's strategic forces modernization." China is "introducing a new road mobile, solid propellent, ICBM , the DF-31 and the extended range DF-31A, which can target most of the world including the continental U.S...." The DF-31A features penetration aids using kick motors provided them by Lockheed Martin.  They have developed the Jian-10 fighter; a reversed engineered F-16 and plan to produce 300 of them.

Taiwan has the worlds 17th largest economy, 16th largest volume of trade, and the 3rd largest foreign exchange reserves. China wants Tiawan to bow before them. Taiwan wants nothing to do with Red China and now faces 800 medium range ballistic missiles across the Taiwan Straits. Chiina has been augmenting these at a rate of 100 a year. We are Taiwans last remaining ally. In 1995, Xiong Guangbai (current Deputy Chief of the Peoples Liberation Army General Staff) told a visiting official that America should worry more about Los Angeles disappearing in a radioactive cloud of dust than saving Taiwan. In 2005, a Chinese general told Hong Kong joournalist that China woould respond if the U.S. interferes with it's planned takeover of Taiwan. He added that Beijing was prepared to lose every city in central China, but that America must be willing to sacrifice hundreds of cities.

On Nov. 13, 2006: The U.S. Navy confirmed that an aircraft carrier battle group was unable to detect one of China's new diesel powered attack subs that surfaced within weapons range of the USS Kittyhawk. These subs are armed with wake homing torpedoes and anti-ship cruise missiles. Military analysts appeared stunned that China would shadow a U.S. carrier as far away as Okinawa.  We have downsized our Navy to around a 150 ships, while China is expandinig to 600. We are financing this upgrade through our continued business dealings with this Communist behemoth.

It is not correct to say they are using our money.  What they are doing is buying our debt, and stealing our technology, thereby providing the means by which the United States can be destroyed economically, and militarily.  At some point they can, and in fact are now in the process of, winding down their purchase of U. S. Treasury debt, estimated to be 1.3 trillion dollars.

If you mean, by money, the dollars that ordinary Americans spend, that is not money.  It is debt because it is not backed by anything.

Also, a previous post stated that the gun barrel of an Abrams tank is made in Germany.  Even these kinds of items are being outsourced.  There are really some horrendously stupid individuals in high places that have been responsible for things of this sort.  They need to be outed and treated with the disgust they so rightly deserve.

We don't need new "comprehensive" immigration laws. We need widespread, well funded enforcement of existing immigration law, i. e. IRCA 1986. http://www.oig.lsc.gov/legis/irca86.htm ANYTHING ELSE IS JUST A BIG CHARADE! Remember the Alamo AND Agents Compean, Ramos, Brugman, Sipe, Rhodes, Deputy Sheriff Hernandez, K-9 Officer Mohr & Noe Aleman. ***Redress it all by repealing the 17th Amendment to the U. S. Emp.,Emp., As I asked Jason what are you suggesting we do? Don't you think there are people with more savvy and understanding of what is transpiring in this situation than you, myself, or Jason? Even if you or I had the answers just how do you propose that we get anyone to listen and believe that we do have the solution? What kind of diplomacy are we going to invoke? How credible are three guys on a thread on a forum? Wouldn't it seem obscure? Just what makes you, me, or any of us an authority on the situation? Seems very egomaniacal for you or any of us to take such a position. We can spout off whatever we think, and just what exactly is that going to accomplish? Smooze our ego's maybe? It's all B.S., and mountains of it. Should China decide to do anything rash don't you believe it would instantly throw the US into a situation where we would have to seriously consider using nuclear force? Would we have an alternative? A plan B? I personally do not believe they are willing to risk such a conflict. It would be a no win, no win scenario, and have irreversible global consequences. There must be better and more rational and more civil alternatives. I'd suggest that we first request they clean up their act or we're going to suspend importation of their goods, and impose stiff tariffs if they don't comply. Seems like a good start, yet who in the hell am I to make such a decision?

We should take the same hardline approach with China that we took against the mighty Red Empire of Lenin and Stalin. This strategy obviously worked to allow the failure that is Communism to self implode, wither up and collapse.  Had we treated Russia as we treat Communist China; I believe that they would still be rattling their rusty sabers today and causing Americans fear and dread. When Mother Russia collapsed conditions in Cuba really started to go downhill and quickly without their funding. I don't see how getting into bed with the enemy is beneficial to the American Republic, our ideals on freedom, or the safety and security of the American people. By all means do honest business with our allies Japan and Taiwan and in doing so aid them to stand up against the evil of Communism in China. The CHI-COM leadership haven't given up on the aims of Chairman Mao, they've just found a way to get us to pay for it.

One concern I have over doing business with China is their dependence on the Laogai (Reform Through Labor which brings to mind the Work Makes You Free signs over German concentration camps). Dr. Charles Lee of San Francisco, CA has been a U.S. citizen since 2002. He was released from a 3 year ordeal in a Chinese prison on Jan 21, 2006. He became a practioner of Falun Gong in 1997 which is based on truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance character traits frowned upon by the tyrants in charge of Chinia. Dr. Lee went to reveal the persecution of Falun Gong members in 2002; was imprisoned but managed to escape. He was arrested at the airport in Guangzhau on Jan 22, 2003 and taken 1,000 miles away to the Yanzhou Detention Facility in Jiangsu Province. He was given a 1 day kangaroo court trial and put away for three years in Nanjing prison 170 miles west of Shanghai.

He was locked in handcuffs so tight they cut into his skin and his arms were drawn upwards from the back. He was not allowed to sleep for 92 consecutive hours. Forced to stand for 16 days morning to night and beaten for not standing up straight. Forced to sit in a fixed position for 48 days to ponder his wrondoings. He developed a heart problems and painful callouses. He was forced to watch China Central TV to re-educate him. He was forced to work at a Laogai factory making shoes, Christmas lights, and other products for export.

He warns that the Chinese Communist Party hasn't changed- it only changes it's face to deceive gullible people.  Dr. Lee fears that in a war with China the U.S. would lose.  Americans complain about 3,000 plus lost lives in Iraq. To the Chinese Communist Party losing 200 million would be a drop in the bucket.

I've had the great pleasure of meeting many Chinese refugees here. I've also volunteered  time with Voice of the Martyrs and Eastern European Harvest where I helped bind Bibles in many different Chinese dialects to be smuggled into house churches not on the state approved list.

COSCO (China Ocean Shipping Company), a military asset of the People's Liberation Army and the OOCL (Orient Overseas Container Line) which is run by the Tung family of Hong Kong for the mainland Chinese Communist operate freely in and out of U.S. harbors daily. Thje House Task Foece on Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare reported that; "Although presented as a commercial entity, COSCO is actually an arm of the Chinese military establishment."It has a fleet of over 600 ships including 100 that are always forward deployed in U.S. waters They commingle with U.S. Navy ships within the waterways and chokepoints of strategic U.S. seaports.

COSCO ships in Seattle and Tacoma in Puget Sound lie just off the Straits of Georgia and Juan de Fuca. COSCO ships sit in the middle of the U.S. Navy's Atlantic Fleet in Norfolk past Hampton Roads, the waterways entrance to Chesapeake Bay. The Interagency Commission on Crime and Security's on-site surveys at U.S. seaports have found that only 2% of all trade cargo is  physically inspected.  Several COSCO ships have been found to contain drugs, illegal aliens, and thousands of automatic weapons bound for California street gangs.

COSCO is considered to be the merchant marines of the Chinese Navy. The Chinese Navy refers to these "cargo ships" as zhanjian; which translates into warships and they boassts that they are "ready for battle"     These same ships bringing majority slave labor produced goods to U.S. store shelves have delivered missile and bio-warfare technology to Pakistan, North Korea, Iran, and Iraq. They can be retro-fitted with missile launchers, rocket launchers, artillery, anti-aircraft weaponry, guided missiles, anti-ship mines, submarine detection and electronic deception equipment.  Military exercises in China have used them to ferry thousands of troops, armored vehicles, and combat aircraft.

We need real border security that doesn't allow sworn enemies of our nation to operate at will within our waters. It was criminal negligence that allowed the USS Cole to be attacked.

On an economic view China needs the US as much as the US needs China...
On cultural view, much more Chinese are learning English than American are learning Chinese... will it change?

Newly manufactured Chinese anti-aircraft guns, landmines, rocket propelled grenades, and HN-5's a Chinese copy of the  Russian SA-7 seized by U.S. and British troops in Afghanistan.

This info had been posted already but tied in to this also.

Another fine example of your consumer dollars at work.
