Devils work...no question.

I have always loathed this book series because of it's witchcraft and wizardry.

A great book series I really recommend is Left Behind, a christian book series based on what's to come for our world...the rapture and the coming 7 year tribulation and the coming of Christ. It's graphic, but well, well worth it.

A decent childrens story and how anyone can say that type of fiction is the devils work amazes me. Sounds like a very uneducated person that is unable to think for themsulves.Laughing

When I read for leisure, it is Clancy or Flynn or before that Ludlum or Follett, writers like that.  Action/suspense with a focus on military and spying.  I think one of my boys likes Harry Potter.  It is so difficult to get him to read anything, that I almost don't care what he reads.  Listened to part of a Harry Potter book once in the car when driving some kids to an out of town activity.  It didn't seem so bad to me.

Kids are reading people! Let them read! If this book is the devil's work, then so are most fiction novels.

I would also recommend C.S. Lewis', "Chornicles of Narnia"  They are captivating and soundly founded into Christianity, with writers license to explore the realms of fiction.  Fun for all ages. Smile  Parents,  remember if you get involved with your children they will be more likely to follow the path you ar directing them into.

Give me a break there is no devils work in Harry Potter books. I have a ten year old grandson reading the last book right now and I do not see any horns sprouting from his head or any late nite rituals being practiced in my spare bedroom.

blaze77535,  That may be true, but sometimes the undercurrent of what our children are exposed too, doesn't surface until they are young adults.  I'm not saying that Harry Potter books are doing this, but, some are. Have you read the books? That is partially what I mean by being involved with our children's lives. If you know what it is they are doing you can debunk anything that may rear an ugly head, or concur with something if it's good too.   I find too that if I read, my daughter follows suit and reads too.

Never read one but like the movies for their entertainment value.  Whatever happened to Nancy Drew or the Hardy Boys?  Flicka or the children's classics?

I prefer to avoid the magic and wizardry, but that's my personal choice. I did enjoy The Chronicles of Narnia book and movie versions. Enjoy C.S. Lewis in general.

If parents are involved, it is beneficial to have kids be exposed to the "dark side".  They can discuss, challenge, or simply ask the parent why the conflict.  It will make them stronger and prepare them for when they face the same or similar challenges as adults.  But as a parent, you do need to keep up with and involved with what your kids are doing.

The an abbreviated version of the Narnia Chronicles were given out by Chik Fil A a while back with their kids meals.  That is a pretty good fast food place, although I don't know if their chicken comes from China or not.  I prefer Popeye's, but Chik Fil A is more convenient and I like their sandwiches and waffle-cut fries.
