TEXAS:The Texas Legislature recently introduced a Bill which would establish a pilot program in Bilingual Education.   The bill further informs its readers, that "Should the Bill not receive a majority of the votes, it  will go into effect September 1,2007 regardless! How is that for Democracy ?

Our Children now have to learn American History in Spanish!

Texans need to start watching closely what is going on in Austin.

I was unable to research the status of the Bill it was in Committee the last time I checked on it.

Do you have any of the text of this bill or a link to it? I'd like to read the bill.

Read the bill. I didn't see any where in the text that stated Spanish would be the only language utilized though it is apparent that is the purpose.  Appears to be an effort to give student children of illegals a less bumpy path to graduation. It's still an accomodation that's created specifically for the invading waves of "undocumented Americans."

We have a governor who stood on the Border of Mexico with his hair never moving and swearing to the people of Texas that he was going to be tough on Immigration. That promise lasted until it was announced that he was the winner of the election. It has gone down hill from there. Anything for a good ole Illegal Alien.

Is there an easy efficient way to research bills in our state houses? My state does not have a full time legislature. Are there key words we should be using to find this stuff? Are there groups in each state that do this? Lobbyists? This is unbelievable how many bills and issues there are that we have to watch. I am new to this. Sorry for all the questions, but it is overwhelming to me and I am sure I am not the only one feeling ready to burst a blood vessel over this nonsense.  Yell

Thank you.

Truth

You could try to look at the Legislative Calender, call you Senator and find out

what is on the agenda and have them emailed to you. Hope this will help.

Parents need to take the School Administration to the cleaners!  When are parents going to stand up and take a stand against this dictatorship they are calling schools?  It is time to take the schools back and stop the brain washing of the children!  By the way they only teach a form of American History!   People, wake up and take your schools back!  You have the power you just need to do it!  Start to e-mail these Representatives and Senators and tell them they will never serve again!  You have to do this for your children!  Why are you letting them get away with this?

I have a question?  How many parents really are active with their children, and know for a fact what is being taught in the schools?  Maybe it's time they went back to getting involved in what the children are learning?  Stop depending on the schools to take care of your children for you.  It's time to start raising our own children.  Take it out of their hands.

What about everyone getting families together, enlisting the help of grandparents and pulling our children out of these hell holes and homeschool our children. Don't be afraid to educate your children yourselves. Who better? Who else cares as much as you do about your own childrens' education? Can you imagine the affect that would have if hundreds of thousands of families pulled their children out and began homeschooling? Continue the fight, but consider homeschooling as the viable option it is. There are many many support groups out there. Think about it.

If I can do it, anyone can. There are dozens of curriculums out there that are basically turn key.

I hate to say this, but it is NOT the job of the government to educate our children. It isn't in the Constitution, and think of this: it is the old adage our  parents used to tell us. As long as we pay your bills and you are under our roof we will make the rules and you will follow them. If you want to make your own rules, move out and pay your own bills. Anyone make the connection here? Whether it's public education, welfare, WIC, etc., the bottom line is "they" can set whatever rules and requirements they feel like.

What was the bill's history? Was it previously written exclusively so that Spanish would be the primary language regarding the pilot program? That's what I concluded when I read the bill as there are no other non-english speaking groups large enough to have it pertain to them.

Bottom line for me is: if you're here, you learn our language.

In my statement,  in the first paragraph, I did not mentioned that "Spanish" would be the primary languange. What galled me was that no matter how the vote was going to be it would be instituted anyway.

My statement that " Our Children would have to learn American History in Spanish" was and is my own opinion considering I am living in Texas.

An excellent point.  However, taxpayers, not just the governor or school board are paying for education.  Unfortunately, there is a disconnect between the taxpayer and the consumer of public education in many cases.  I still don't understand why taxpayers are more enraged that they are paying for a product that is expensive and inferior compared to virtually all alternatives.
