Fairness Doctrine??

In the free market of ideas, the Left can't sell its worn-out merchandise.  The only viable option then is the eradication of opposing ideas.

So in 1949 -- with the Democrats in control of the major media, both houses of Congress, and the White House -- why did the Left pass such a bill? 

Because even then, listeners could find a few conservatives on radio -- and Leftists knew they could use their political power to harass conservative broadcasters and shield liberals like Cronkite. 

Now they want to do it again!  To gag conservatives!  To hush Rush!  To return to "the good old days" when only left-wing voices were permitted over the airways.

            Don't let them go there!

They have banned the Ten Commandments, manger scenes, and stars on Christmas trees, and prohibited the brightest high school kids from mentioning God in commencement speeches.

Hillary Clinton has called for control of the Internet.  Early on, she told the press the Internet needs "editing" and "gate keeping." 

Senator Inhofe reported that he overheard Hillary Clinton and Barbara Boxer declare war on talk radio: "They said we've got to do something about this. These are nothing but far right-wing extremists. We've got to have a balance. There's got to be a legislative fix for this."

In the wake of the amnesty debate, Senators Dianne Feinstein (D-Cal.), Richard Durbin (D-Ill.), Howard Dean (Chairman, Democratic National Committee), and even Trent Lott (R-Miss.) all suggested that the Fairness Doctrine be considered or reinstated once again. 

Senator Dianne Feinstein told Chris Wallace of Fox News:  "Well, I'm looking at it, as a matter of fact, Chris, because I think there ought to be an opportunity to present the other side. And unfortunately, talk radio is overwhelmingly one way."

"It's time to reinstitute the Fairness Doctrine," said Senator Durbin

Howard Dean said: "We need to re-regulate the media."

And Trent Lott who pads around Capitol Hill, disguised as a conservative thundered: "Talk radio is running America... We have to deal with that problem."

What a crop of crap!...This is all part of the liberal control,.....they want to take away our guns,..our voice,......they bitch about the "right wing" agenda but one has to wonder WHY even the left did not stand with air-America?!...Because air-America was so full of B.S & hate,.....so since they failed people like Hillary want to take the "right" down with them...lolol.,.....what a bunch of losers

I would love listening to liberals on the radio as much as I loved listening to them on the senate floor. I would just scream at them and turn them off...lol

It's just starting to come around but will pick-up closer to election,....if you have any info you can post there I'm sure they would appriciate it....I think I posted the web-site some where on here but now I can't find it...

Hillary really is scary. The "Fairness Doctrine" is everything but fair. The liberals will whine and scream about how they stand up for free speech but they are full of it, and they know it. They are getting their butts kicked on the radio and they will stop at nothing to pull the plug, no matter how unconstitutional. I tried to listen to Air America awhile back in an attempt to conduct my own fairness exercise and see what they were broadcasting. I listened for one hour, it was a long hour to say the least.

Regarding  the previous comments about politicians wanting to reinstate the  "Fairness Doctrine,"

There is now is an opportunity to fight this latest tactic of shutting down talk radio --and ultimately other media formats:

 

SUPPORT FREE SPEECH  BY SUPPORTING BROADCAST FREEDOM BILLS H.R. 2905 and S. 1742

 

I urge everyone to contact their representatives and senators to support Bills H.R. 2905 and S. 1742,sponsored respectively by Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN), Senators John Thune (R-SD) and Norm Coleman (R-MN), prohibits the FCC from reinstating the “Fairness Doctrine,” which was in effect until 1987 when the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) withdrew it.  At that time even the FCC found that the “Fairness Doctrine” had the effect of stifling open discussion of issues and could lead to abusive enforcement by government officials, so the FCC dropped it.

 

It is crucially important for free speech and our political freedoms that we all support congressional bills H.R. 2905 and S. 1742 for Broadcast Freedom.

 

H.R. 2905, "Broadcaster Freedom Act of 2007," is a bill that will uphold the freedoms of speech and free exercise of religion over the broadcasting airways.
