It's really funny how you have groups that create some friendly sounding name for their organization and then actively work against what that name says they are representing.

First there is the ACLU - the American Civil Liberties Union - that is constantly defending non Americans like in their case against Hazleton, Pennsylvania's Illegal Immigration Relief Act that fines landlords and pulls the business licenses of those who rent to and hire illegal aliens. Foreign Illegal Aliens who obviously are not Americans.

Then you have MALDEF - the Mexican-American Legal Defense and Education Fund - that on the cover of its 2003-2004 annual report (the latest available) states "Promoting Latino Civil Rights Since 1968". MALDEF's Mission Statement from their website says "to foster sound public policies, laws, and programs that safeguard the rights of Latinos; and to expand the opportunities for Latinos to participate fully in society and to make a positive contribution toward its well-being.". Last I checked "Latino's" aren't Mexican-Americans. Illegal aliens aren't Mexican-Americans, which is what they seem to refer to since Latinos that are here legally have safeguarded rights and opportunities in this country. Many of them have actually taken advantage of American opportunity and done quite well for themselves, just like others in this country.

MALDEF actively fights for the rights of illegal aliens, like it's lawsuit with the ACLU against Farmers Branch, Texas that also put in place an ordinance similar to Hazleton's.

Why doesn't MALDEF just rename itself to IALDEF - Illegal Alien Legal Defense and Education Fund?

Discover The Network has more on MALDEF and points out that they support "open borders, free college tuition for illegal immigrants, lowered educational standards to accommodate Hispanics, and voting rights for criminals"

How do these groups survive? Well unsurprisingly they receive donations from those who benefit from their actions. In addition to individual donors, companies who employ, market and sell to illegal aliens donate a good chunk of the funds. From their 2003-2004 Annual Report we have a list of these great American companies that donate to this organization defending illegal aliens and influencing immigration laws and enforcement in this country.

Let's take a look at these patriotic companies and the amounts they donated.

But first, a few of note that are strange, including the Ronald McDonald House Charities. That's right, they are redirecting your donations to MALDEF rather than spending them on providing for needy Americans.

The AARP. Your donations and membership to the AARP goes out to this pro illegal alien group.

We've also got the numerous universities including University of Notre Dame, Texas A&M University at Kingsville, University of California, University of Houston, University of Southern California and University of Texas at San Antonio. (Do you see a trend there?)

A number of large Hispanic community TV stations from the likes of CBS and FOX.

And of course banks, banks, banks galore including
the illegal alien loving Wells Fargo, who gives mortgages to illegal aliens,
Citibank, who actually gives mortgages with below market rates to illegal aliens,
and Bank of America, who gives credit cards to illegal aliens.
