Major Thanks To Senator Jeff Sessions from Alabama for the fight against Amnesty
6/28/07

Just want to send out a huge Thank You to Senator Jeff Sessions (R- Alabama).

He was heading the charge, along with Jim DeMint from South Carolina, against the Amnesty bill in the Senate.

He was thorn in the so-called leadership's side.

His presence and his pressure had a major impact.

Amen to that!  Sessions and DeMint were staunch and outspoken supporters for what the majority of Americans wanted - BORDER SECURITY - NO AMNESTY PERIOD!

I also appreciate all that Senators Vitter, Cornyn, and Hutchison did!

You might note that Sessions said even he was amazed by the response we gave to the second cloture vote. I watched him closely when he spoke just before the final vote. I think he had more than an inkling that the bill would be crushed again. The man has reason, common sense, and a deep underlying understanding as to where the nation needs to go. Let's continue to help him steer it that way.

During my tour in Viet Nam (1968) there was a hero legislator , named Mendel Rivers , much like Mr Sessions , big on thought before action and very big on people . My hat is off to Mr Sessions also and I too thank him dearly . It would indeed have been a shame to lose so many in Iraq / Afghanistan and have the rest come home to a country in disarray .

Vote Responsibly and if you don't vote don't complain around me .

A HUGE Thank You to Senator Sessions from a Conservative in New York, who nobody  represents..

Your fierce fight for the good citizens of America, and your grace and dignity in the face of ugliness,  is well appreciated.

My TV was on CSPAN all week as I watched this fight. I popped popcorn  because this was the best entertainment in town. The Senators who were against Amnesty and for America fought a vigilant fight. Senator Sessions as a leader made me proud.

I may not have the next statement exactly as it was presented so I'll do my best to tell it like I saw it. At one point in the fight, Senator Sessions stated that while he was waiting for the amendment, he learned that one of the special interests groups had a copy of the amendment and had posted it  on their website.

In other words, before the Senators received the amendment, special interests groups not only had the amendment but had posted the amendment on the internet. We know that the special interest groups wrote the amendment, that's why they had a copy and had posted it on their website.

Why and how did the Senate get away with giving the supporters of the immigration bill 50 minutes of talk time and the opposition only given 10 minutes? This did not sit well with many of the Senators.

While watching this fight it dawned on me that many of the Senators did not like having this bill rammed down their throats either. Good looking out for us Senators.

                    AMERICANS FOR HONEST GOVERNMENT

                  3406 MAITLAND-SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS 78259

                     FAX: 210-481-9725    PHONE: 210-481-9725

          March 11th, 2008

Dear Senator, Kay Hutchison:

Do what is best for America, do the right thing; join your colleagues in the Senate to stop the invasion of illegal aliens.

Senator Sessions need the support of all the senators to stop this invasion, I send this letter to Governor Rick Perry, I hope you send the Governor a letter asking him to pass legislation to stop the invasion of illegal aliens in Texas, his excuse for doing nothing and promoting sanctuary to illegal aliens is that, enforcing the immigration laws is a matter of the federal government.

To: Governor Rick Perry.

Governor, your position of non-intervention on Federal immigration issues and allowed Texas to become sanctuary to illegal aliens, cost Texans taxpayers $ 4.7 billions annually.

The current estimates show there are 1.5 million illegal aliens in Texas. The costs when broken down come to a total of $725 a year per taxpaying household to cover the costs of education, health care and incarceration of illegal aliens throughout the state.

The more than $4.7 billion in costs incurred by Texas taxpayers annually result from outlays in the following areas:

Education. Based on estimates of the illegal immigrant population in Texas and documented costs of K-12 schooling, Texans spend more than $4 billion annually on education for illegal immigrant and for their U.S.-born siblings. About 11.9 percent of the K-12 public school students in Texas are children of illegal aliens.

Health Care. Taxpayer-funded medical outlays for health care provided to the state’s illegal alien population amount to about $520 million a year.

Incarceration. The uncompensated cost of incarcerating illegal aliens in Texas’s state and county prisons amounts to about $150 million a year (not including local jail detention costs or related law enforcement and judicial expenditures or the monetary costs of the crimes that led to their incarceration).

The fiscal costs of illegal immigration do not end with these three major cost areas. The total costs of illegal immigration to the state’s taxpayers would be considerably higher if other cost areas such as special English instruction, welfare programs used by the U.S.-born children of illegal aliens, or welfare benefits for American workers displaced by illegal alien workers were also calculated.

Governor, the economic burden that you and your colleagues in Austin place on our communities and in our families it is overwhelming, no to mention the negative impact in our schools, hospitals and on social services. We are fed up with this invasion of illegal aliens that now not only come from Mexico but from other states that are cracking down on illegal immigration. Texas can not continue being sanctuary to illegal aliens, you and your business cronies are the only ones that benefit from this cheap labor at the expenses of the Texas taxpayers and the working class.

Mr. Governor you and the politicians in Austin must take action and take tough stance against illegal immigration, all Texas employers should require to use the online database to determine whether potential workers are U.S. citizens and employment of illegal aliens should be sanction, also all social services, Medicaid and public school should be cut off to illegal aliens.

We the people of Texas will not put up any more with your excuses, enforcing our laws is your job, your administration and the politicians in Austin must take action and pass legislations to deal with this problem that you and your administration created in our communities. We have a hard enough time taking care of our own U.S. citizens who are living a life of poverty, let alone having to add more illegal immigrants on top of that.

Governor Perry, from now on you and your administration will bear responsibility for the cost of illegal aliens, we are not paying for your incompetence or your actions to facilitate your business cronies with illegal cheap labor to maximize their profits.

PS.

Senator Sessions is right!  We can’t allow our government to ignore the illegal alien invasion.

Help Senator Sessions restore the rule of law and pass legislation to stop this invasion.

The other bills in this Senate package focus on interior enforcement issues and would:

  • Block federal funding to cities that bar their police from asking about immigration status.
  • Give the Department of Homeland Security the authority to use information from the Social Security Administration to identify illegal immigrants.
  • Require construction of 700 miles of fencing along the southern border, not including vehicle barriers.
  • Impose sanctions on countries that refuse to repatriate their citizens.
  • Deport any immigrant, legal or illegal, for one drunk-driving conviction.
  • Enable local and state police to enforce federal immigration laws.

In February, Chertoff said the $20 million “virtual” fence system was approved for service. Now the media reports that, "The Bush administration has scaled back plans to quickly build a 'virtual fence' along the U.S.-Mexico border, delaying completion of the first phase of the project by at least three years and shifting away from a network of tower-mounted sensors and surveillance gear."

The people of the United States want a secure border and they want illegal immigration to STOP.
