-A bipartisan group representing more than 5,000 Hispanic officials called the Senate's decision to drop an immigration bill Thursday a colossal failure and urged the House to step in.
John Bueno, president of the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials, promised to keep fighting for an immigration law that would provide security for the nation while resolving the status of roughly 12 million illegal immigrants.
"We now call on the U.S. House of Representatives and the White House to take on this issue and finish the job that the Senate did not," Bueno said.
Incoming NALEO President Adolfo Carrion Jr., the president of New York City's Bronx borough, acknowledged the House in the past also has been unwilling to pass legislation that would provide a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants. "It's a new House. The history of this House should not be judged by the past," he said, referring to the new Democratic majority.
"Whenever there is a vacuum in power, people step up. It's time for the House to step up."
Pennsylvania Secretary of State Pedro Cortes said he was worried the Senate's decision will mean that more local governments will now go forward with ordinances regulating immigration. "You're going to have people who could live across the street from each other being treated completely differently because they're in one city or another. That's not how it should be," Cortes said.
All right someone explain this to me. How can the House/President pick this up? I am sick of it all, I am sick of being manipulated, lied to, treated like a stupid fool, taken advantage of, robbed, on and on. How do we put this issue to bed altogether?
I started my faxes (but having trouble with fax and being sent to call centers with non-english tech's that are just compounding the problem!) on House Resolution 997. I have always thought if our current laws were enforced, the 12+million illegals would take care of it's self through attrition (mostly). Take away perks, take away jobs and maybe they would have to come here legally. Gee what a novel idea. Also I would like to see that anchor baby law changed, the press sure would not, no more little children crying to put on tv/newspapers.
Blast them all, they have no idea what it is like to live in these illegal overrun communities.
FL Deb - I agree! I live in Southern CA and they not only have taken over but they look at you like "What?, you don't speak Spanish? and you live in Northern Mexico?". Not all, but a large amount have been given cover for so long by our "sanctuary city" laws that they believe they are "above the law" and no one can touch them or deport them for entering our country illegally. It is like they flaunt it - na na na na, you can't touch me - Mayor Antonio Villaragosia protects me in this sanctuary city.
I am almost 170 miles from the border and yet there are neighborhoods close by where 50 to 75% of the people only speak Spanish. Also because they don't enter legally, they don't have to learn the history of the United States, many of them barely have an 8th grade education. They watch Spanish TV and listen to Spanish radio and so all the news they get is skewed as it is being reported from Mexico. All they know is that this land should be Mexico or was at one time Mexico and they have a right to it.

BOO HOO......just had an attitude adjustment did ya?? Did you just find out THE AMERICAN PEOPLE RUN THIS COUNTRY...NOT LARAZA?!
Did you just have your "TOUGH SH** ticket" punched?
Here's a news flash buster, you and a lot of other creeps are gonna have your "tough sh** tickets" punched. The America people have HAD IT!! This is OUR COUNTRY..we have had it with the MINORITY shoving their agendas down our throats! ......if you want to follow the rules...come on in..great.
But the AMERICAN people have had it with all of this politically correct B.S. The American people have spoken on this issue...there will be NO backdoor, weasle moves. We are fed up and we are taking back OUR country SIR!
Snowball....you bet! La Raza can go pack sand! They know darn well that they just do things for Hispanics....NOT the good or welfare of all U.S. Citizens. It was very apparent when Lou Dobbs cornered Rep. Guiterrez last night. Guiterrez was total La Raza. This is what we cannot have in our government (people voting and carrying on for the welfare of one ethnic based group at the expense of everyone else). We cannot let what the Mayor of L.A. (Villaraigosa) said when he was the President of the UCLA chapter of Mecha..."For the race, everything. For everyone outside the race, nothing" manifest any longer. It must be stopped. It is very dangerous to our country to let these things go on. Awareness must be built.
"We do need to play by the rules. The people affilitated with NCLR, etc. will let emotions get the best of them and will put their feet into their own mouths by their actions. Just look at the demonstrations and the way the people act. What we need to do is outsmart all of them. We have the brainpower. We need to operate as a cohesive, unified, smart group." There is nothing to resolve. If they are illegal, they are ineligible for any taxpayer funded benefits. When they are identified, they are deported. Period! End of story.
Ann Coulter had a good idea on O'Reilly last night. Let illegals have the right to sue for minimum wage and/or equal wages and benefits as citizens. Then the trial lawyers and ACLU will do the job that the government won't. No business is going to hire an illegal on that basis.

The letters and phone calls can not stop. The marches need to grow bigger and louder. What is that saying: "when the going gets tough, the tough get going."
They will try to underhandedly put parts of the bill into appropriations -
48th ronin - you are on it!
The house will not bring immigration reform (amnesty) back I assure you!
Watch for amendments to the coming appropriations bills ..
The fight moves on and in the house appropriations are the place!
Now we also need to HOLD THE FIRE to Michael Chertoff!!! HIS LINES need to shut down due to angry callers - demanding he BUILD THE FENCE!
HEY STEVE - THERE IS A NEW TV AD - Michael Chertoff has the Federal Law and the money to enforce it but he is not. Why? Call Michael Chertoff and ask him to BUILD THE FENCE!
TODAY'S VOTE A SETBACK, NOT THE END, FOR COMPREHENSIVE IMMIGRATION REFORM
Washington, DC – The National Council of La Raza (NCLR), the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the U.S., expressed deep disappointment with today’s vote to end Senate consideration of comprehensive immigration reform.
“Today’s action is a victory for the status quo, and no one should be happy about that. But the Senate vote is a setback, not the death knell, for comprehensive immigration reform. We are not giving up on getting a real, effective, and fair solution to the immigration issue,” stated Janet Murguía, NCLR President and CEO.
“Despite today’s vote, the country still needs leadership on this issue. There is bipartisan immigration reform legislation awaiting action in the U.S. House of Representatives, and supporters of comprehensive immigration reform will be looking to the House to take action as soon as possible,” continued Murguía.
“Finally, we believe that whatever political gain people think may come out of this vote will be short-lived, especially in light of the growing and increasingly energized Latino electorate. In the long run, legislators should and will be held accountable for not moving a solution forward,” concluded Murguía.
THIS is our problem. La Raza has a devious plan to infiltate our government as part of their efforts to take over the U.S. The officials in the above organization were elected by Latinos in cities and boroughs where the majority are of Latino heritage, and most likely some illegals were thrown in to vote for good measure (there have been cases reported where illegals have managed to vote in U.S. elections).
Where do groups like La Raza get the gaul to try to persuade Congress to grant ILLEGALS/LAW BREAKERS a path to U.S. citizenship? Citizenship in America is a precious gift. Because they don't have the guts or knowledge to stand up for themselves against their own government they have to invade our country and abuse our laws and principles? We're not talking about brain surgeons crossing over our borders - these are the poor and indigent who don't have what it takes to make something of their lives in their own country. Picking lettuce and working in meat plants aren't exactly jobs that require much of an education. If I hear one more time about how Jose just wants to work and fend for his very large and ever-growing family I will be tempted to start throwing punches.
Most of what I've seen and heard from the Mexican pro-illegal groups is that these people don't want to become Americans...they just want to suck our system dry courtesy of the U.S. taxpayer while claiming this is Mexico, and behaving as if it's Mexico. We have illegal Asians in our country, but do you see them marching in our streets DEMANDING citizenship and freebies from our government? The type of behavior displayed by the Latino pro-illegals and illegals is what angers U.S. citizens and prompts us to fight back FULL SCALE against their cause - which is preposterous cause in the first place. Bottom line, since they actually believe America is their land, they EXPECT free rein.
America is multi-cultural, sure, and that's a very good thing. Who would want to live in a world where the ideas and customs are all the same? The sharing of ideas is what makes us such a creative country. We wouldn't be America if we were all one color and culture. BUT whoever said that when you come here you automatically set up special organizations that single out your particular race or culture that expects to receive extras from the government? When in America, celebrate your heritage but DO NOT force it on me and demand special privileges because of your race or culture. BE American-Mexican or American-Asian or American-German. Not the other way around. You weren't invited here to set up your own country within ours...and don't get in our faces with your demands or you'll get the lickin' of your life.
We are not through! We have A LOT of fight left. Groups like La Raza don't intimidate us. We will have our country back when the dust settles!

Rumor has it that the illegal aliens are ticked off to say the least - come July 4th in LA they plan on marching in the streets. The Mexican Movement and Mecha are calling for massive riots and protests. They have announced that there will be blood shed in the streets! Unitl they get there way. Which means no strings attached citizenship! so they can take back there stolen homeland!
I say good let them start getting ugly in the streets. More of a reason to round them up and deprot them.
This is an invasion on our soil! On OUR INDEPENDENCE DAY! I say bring it on - maybe that is the only way to put a stop to this invasion? You think?
This alien invasion will get worse before it gets better.
FireSociety does have quite a number of CA resdients - PLEASE ARM YOURSELF. TAKE CARE! This is no joke from what I have learned directly from the VA Chapter of the Minute man today.
When the government becomes responsible for us, We the people are no longer a free society.
Blaze_of_Fire: I think the same, why don't just they sorround them with buses and send them back to Mexico! but remember if the police even try or attempt to do something to them, they'll have all the Latino organizations, La Raza, La Mecha, los Chicanos and who knows what other groups that are out there suing the district for such a terrible mistake. Policemen will be fired right and left and we need them, so all we have to do is just let them cry. At this point, I don't think they can get the Amnesty bill back!
If volience does in fact occur on 4th of July in LA - they are going to have to bring in the swat team and do something - it will be an public saftey issue. MAYBE then things will start happening - like enforceing the laws on the books to get them deprotated out of here the minute they act up in the streets!
When the government becomes responsible for us, We the people are no longer a free society.
You're right, Blaze. I hope they riot, too. It'll have the same reaction their first marches had - it woke up and inflamed U.S. citizens. Let them show their true colors.

Everybody is saying what I'm thinking, only saying it much nicer than I could.
As for riots, let's just get ready, stock up on ammo, and wait and see. I wonder if it isn't just blowhard talk. The illegals and the groups that feed off them seem to think we Americans are like our Congress and that fool in the White House, and that we'll roll over and give up. They might be in for a surprise if anything does happen.
