Do not celebrate. The only thing we have "won" is the status quo, which means millions of illegals will continue to pour across the border. And the Senate mandarins will try to amnesty all of them next time. More direct messages need to be sent. Lindsay Graham must somehow be voted out of office next year. McCain needs to be shamed into oblivion. All the supporters must pay with their jobs.
Paul 55.....my sentiments exactly.....ANY senator who voted for this sham and is up for re-election 2008 should still be BOMBARDED non-stop, and if possible defeated in his primary.
Paul55 is right....now make a list of the pathetic senators that voted yes on this bill...and when their up for re-election, citizens of each state they represent, need to spread the word and get them ousted...but I am going to celebrate this victory...
Well at least this is a start. Now we need to get them to put up the fence that they agreed to last year and close off Mexico to the USA!
I am saddened at the fact that I work with some who say that we need some of these workers because businesses will have to shut down because of lack of workers. I am speaking primarily in our area of landscapers and contractors. I said too bad so sad, that is the law!
God bless America. And now what? Those who supported this nightmare should be recalled, voted out of office, and have their feet held to the fire for their actions. The senate can no longer be allowed to simply ignore us and should be made to hear us loud and clear from now on. We need to withhold all campaign contributions whethere there is a mass defection from the GOP or not. Talk radio will be blamed for the Amnesty bill defeat but and our actions will be dismissed as a fluke. So, we have to show them that we in fact are still extremely angry about this. We should demand that the fence that was already approved be built in it's entirety, not just the 2 miles that have been built. We should demand that the laws that are already on the books be enforced. Defeating the amnesty bill is glorius and wonderful but we have even harder work ahead of us now. The very ones who voted for this are the very ones who refuse to build the fence, enforce our borders, hire the BP officers promised, and enforce the current immigration laws already on the books. We need to be watchful as to what La Raza and Mecha do now too. Be very proud of what you have accomplished, you are truly awesome and wonderful!
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
BTW, how interesting to compare today's cloture vote to the one earlier this week--on TV news. The amnesty "victory" earlier this week was praised gawked over on CNN, FOX, MSNBC and all the rest all day long. CNN hasn't even mentioned the no vote so far today. Don't know about Fox News, as I don't listen any longer to Rupert Murdoch's pro amnesty shills that dominate the place. Ditto MSNBC, the network the Kremlin wished they could have had during the Cold War.
Paul 55 - all I heard was that it was a "shame" it did not pass because it would have helped close the border. The news media on MSNBC is still lying about what it really was about, even now after it failed. These guys really do think we are stupid.
Fox covered the vote from the get go....Major Garrett was checking with his people and predicted at least 14 vote changes, it was actually 18. Fox was on the ball. E D hill was giving info on some of the hidden items that were actually illegal considering our current laws.
We need to keep the presure on to get the existing laws enforced, and the fence built! With God's help, we did it!
nraged is right. Now we need to contact Bush to get our borders secure.

The only true reporting on it will probably come through Lou Dobbs and possibly though talk radio. Haven't seen anything on breaking news on Fox.
I agree that our next step should be to pound them on enforcing existing laws, particularly building the fence and the supposed money that has been allotted for it last year.
I am full of joy with my fellow Americans who have spoken loud and clear for all to hear. Now we need to stick the "wheres the fence" bumper stickers on our vehicles til the road is full of our cars and the fence is put up. I m not sure of the site, but I received 11 bumper stickers and couldnt wait to put one on my car. We will continue the fight, we have won a battle and we will win the war!
