I don't know if this has been mentioned but I have been going to these 2 great websites and have sent letters, packages to our troops via these websites.

One is: http://www.anysoldier.com/

I like the fact that they tell you what type of stuff to send, what not to send and how to send it.

They have lists from soldiers of every branch and their requests. They have email addy's so you can write to soldiers. They have stories from the soldiers.

So many soldiers do not receive any mail!!! Even just sending a letter helps.

I try to send beanie babies in my packages as that is one of their requests, so they can easily carry them around and give them to small Iraqi children.

The sister website is:  http://www.treatanysoldier.com/

This website has different types of packages already put together so if you are not sure what to send, you just pick one and they'll send it. They will include a message from you to the soldier.

I just thought I would share these great sites.

May God Bless!

Another great website is Adoptaussoldier.org.  It matches soldiers with people who want to "adopt" them and tells you things like addresses, how often to write, what should go in care packages if you send them, etc.  It is wonderful!

I  adopted a unit in Afghanistan from anysoldier.com  last year, and sent monthly packages.  They rotated home in April and I am now sending packages to a unit in IRAQ.  The thing they want most is black socks.  They say they go through them like crazy.  I get letters, and sometimes emails too from them.

MoveAmericaForward.org is an excellent website.  They are planning a cross country caravan in September and have  an address where you can send a card or letter to wounded warriors:

Move America Forward

Attn: Wounded Warrior Notes

P.O. Box 1497

Sacramento, California 95812

Your notes, cards, letters will be hand delivered by Move America Forward members in the caravan to soldiers at Walter Reed Hospital.

Today, Sept. 16, 07,  thousands of cards, notes, and letters were hand delivered by Move America Forward to troops at Walter Reed Army Hospital, along with banners (made from sheets) with signatures and comments written on them by people as the caravan traversed the country.  Just thought you'd like to know if you sent something to the address above...

Newer update...priority delivery went to those wounded who did not receive visitors, or mail or irregulary.  Also, Deborah Lee, mother of the first Navy SEAL killed in Iraq met a young man there who had been with her son and who had many pictures of him which his mother had never seen.  Several sections of the hospital were visited with goodies and cards, notes and letters handed out.  Coverage was very good.  Thank you if you participated.  It made a BIG difference in the lives of our troops to know you cared.

Move America Forward just posted a wonderful video/song on YouTube:

"Where Freedom Flies" The Theme Song for the Fight For Victory Tour. It will make your day. If someone else knows how to attach the video, go ahead.

The original posting gave the itinerary to the Fight For Freedom caravan.  It has now transpired with news events being aired regarding the "thousands" of antiwar demonstrators and their arrests.   The pro-troop group is formed by Move America Forward, Gathering of Eagles, and many, many other veteran and patriotic groups, of which they report were only a few hundred in number.  Actually, there were 7,000  pro-troop folks from Gathering of Eagles alone & thousands more there.  Please understand that within the Beltway there is a majority of liberal/democrat orgs and people living there so to garner a large, noisy group is rather easy & numbered at less than 4,000 total. However, the pro-troop group was made up of individuals traveling from all parts of the country inorder to be there to form a Support the Troops event.  It is shameful that the pro-troopers, watching our fighting soldiers backs on the homefront, always receive belittling or less than truthful event coverage.  Those supporting our troops lined the streets of Washington DC by their thousands and shamed the group "Answer" for their die in and anti troop displays that got them arrested.  "Answer" participants were surprised and embarrassed to face the music they deserved.  For once the streets of Wash DC were lined with people showing their love for this country and its troops. Meanwhile, Senator Harry Reid refused to meet Deborah Lee, the mother of the first Navy SEAL killed in Iraq, and another mother, Deborah Johns, whose son has volunteered  for 4 tours in Iraq & is currently serving there. Reid refused because he knew they would call him on his "We have already lost" claim. Thank you, if you participated or even wanted to and couldn't.

In-Defensible

The Senate is expected to approve the Defense authorization bill this evening and send it to a House and Senate Conference committee where it is sure to get bogged down because of Senators Kennedy (D-MA) and Smith (R-OR) attaching their hate crimes amendment. For all their public misgivings over the war and its toll on the military, Senate liberals don't seem to mind bogging down this one piece of legislation that could bring some relief to our troops. By hijacking the bill and adding "hate crimes" they have severely crippled the bill's chances of passage. This puts our brave men and women at risk just so that they can curry favor with homosexuals. This is about as un-American as it gets. Essentially, the move is a slap in the face to our troops who are putting their lives on the line to preserve the very democratic process that liberals are manipulating to appease these wealthy special interest groups. Yet their political hijinks comes at every citizen's expense. As Kennedy and company waste valuable time on an amendment that is not germane, the Defense Department is left without the resources it needs to protect all Americans, not just a handful of homosexuals that liberals believe deserve special protection under the law. Kennedy insists that "hate crimes" are relevant additions to the bill because homosexuals face the threat of "domestic terrorism." As the editors of The Washington Times write today, "The senator appears to think that the American people are idiots--unable to distinguish between jihadists, often with the support of foreign governments, who... blow up mosques, railway stations, and hotels on the one hand, and ordinary street hoodlums in this country whose apprehension and prosecution has traditionally been the responsibility of state and local government authorities on the other hand. Fortunately, Mr. Bush understands the difference..." We encourage the President to send the same message by standing firm on his promise to veto the Defense bill as soon as it hits his desk.

Kennedy sure has his priorities. To bad the troops & the country at large are not on his list.
