U.S. Farm Raised Catfish website has information on food safety and a petition supporting country of origin labelling on restaurant menus. 49 shipments of Chinese catfish were turned away last year alone; what about the 10.7 million pounds no one inspected? Salmonella, melamine, malachite green, banned antibiotics and other contaminates are regulary found in Chinese catfish. Only 1.3% of all food shipments are inspected. In light of the poisoned cats and dogs and tainted toothpaste, I feel that we the consumer should be armed with the knowledge of where our food originates. Then and only then can we make informed decisions for our health and that of our families.

The petitiion can be found at www.uscatfish.com.

Jason, isn't that what the big government agency called the Food and Drug Administration is for?

Why not demand this big bureaucry with thousands of government employees start doing the job the taxpayers are paying the workers to do?

Poisoning our food and water supplies is one of the easiest ways our enemies can send us a message and actually kill thousands of innocent people. Are our elected representatives treating this as a real concern? Of course not. They are more interested in ensuring illegal aliens take over the country and terrorists are free to bomb millions more.

Done!

As a side note, I noticed that Walmart is selling some organic produce labeled "Product of Mexico." Some of it was NEWMAN ORGANICS Romaine.

Since I'm positive that May-hee-ho doesn't have standards like we in the USA are supposed to have, I won't buy it, and have told the managers exactly that.  I've noticed of late that their produce either says "Product of the USA" or doesn't say anything at all. (Hmmm..)

The FDA is one of the most corrupt wastes of taxpayer money on the planet.

Thanks, I signed it too!  I agree with you ARealConservative!  What do they do anyway?  When the info came out on the toothpaste, they said the FDA can't even recall any item?!?

There are some "organisms" in Mexico I'd prefer my food be free of.

The consumer is going to have to send a message with their wallet because the FDA isn't concerned with protecting you.

They are complaining about a few ants in a shipment of pistachios; while the catfish, tilapia, etc..............sent to us can cause sickness, birth defects, and death. What are theyt complaining about.

Paper reports that many shipments of Chinese seafood have gotten through without inspection. This makes country of origin labelling even more important so we can make healthly decisions for ourselves and families.

We have a pattern of abuse involving China and foodstuffs not mere coincidence.  I urge you to join in demanding COOL ono restaurant menus. Our President has delayed the COOL act until September of next year. Our health is at stake with new recalls and safety concerns every week involving China.
