its time to push this congress to finish what was started

EVERY other country has implemented the ICD-10 format

http://www.who.int/classifications/icd/en/ the USA is the only country left out of this important update to the Healthcare system

http://www.ahima.org/icd10/

Since 9-11 there has even been updates on disease and harm via the aftermath of 9-11 and with our current ICD-9 there is not enough coding options to handle all new disease's.. this is what happens when you get an EOB that details the diagnoses and the coding...and it says unknown code...

ICD-9-CM should have been replaced 10 years ago. Each year that passes results in further deterioration of this classification system and the data it produces. Further delays in adoption of ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS also increase the cost of an eventual implementation once ICD-9-CM completely breaks down

When I worked as an occupational therapist, I HATED those damned ICD 9 codes.  But, you're right.  With all the new diseases -- and more to come with unimmunized illegal aliens coming here, we're running (if not already ran) out of numbers to cover all the diseases, ailments, conditions, etc.
