Grass Roots Roared and Immigration Plan Collapsed

WASHINGTON, Mich., June 8 — The undoing of the immigration bill in the Senate this week had many players, but none more effective than angry voters like Monique Thibodeaux, who joined a nationwide campaign to derail it.

Mrs. Thibodeaux, an office manager at a towing company here in suburban Detroit, became politically active as she never had before. Guided by conservative Internet organizations, she made calls and sent e-mail messages to senators across the country and pushed her friends to do the same.

“These people came in the wrong way, so they don’t belong here, period,” Mrs. Thibodeaux, a Republican, said of some 12 million illegal immigrants who would have been granted a path to citizenship under the Senate bill.

“In my heart I knew it was wrong for our country,” she said of the measure.

Thankyou Steve for posting this for us.  I am almost speechless after reading the article.  The one word that stood out to me the most was the word "Relentless".  We're winning and winning big! 

The New York Times is such a liberal newspaper and for them to give you this kind of attention and report it truthfully, is nothing short of a miracle.

What an amazing display of what happens when the country stands up together and fights for our liberty and our freedoms.

The article is awesome and thank you Steve, for posting it.  I did get a chance to see the "Where's the Fence" ad on Hannity and Combs.  What an adorable way to get a point across!  But just as many people I've talked to have stated-"why don't we just enforce the laws all ready on the books? 

Changing the debate, instead of enforcing and funding the laws already written is an outrage and shouldn't be tolerated.

OK, yea, great work.  But before we pat ourselves on the back too much, take note that Bush is on his way back from receiving Albanian praise for his plan to dismember and detach Kosovo from Serbia and resurrect his amnesty plan.  King George doesn't care what you think.  King George and Prince Teddy are gearing up right now to cram their amnesty down your throats.

You are right Paul55.  Every time I hear the senators talk about still getting this bill passed I think how absolutely bold they are to continue to push it when the majority doesn't want it. 

They are pushing more than the bill, our patience and their seats.  I hope we out all their asses when election time comes around.

Awesome article, Steve.  Usually the liberal media glosses over this stuff or omits it completely but we made such a HUGE impact they had no choice but to report it.

People, we have to keep up this fevor!  The supporters of this bill (pro-illegal groups) are going to come out punching even harder and we can't let them get a reaction like the one we just got from the Senate.  We will have to do double duty on the phones, faxes and e-mail.  Now, more than ever, because Bush is going to try to twist some arms of the senators who oppose the bill.  This is happening today. 

Contact as many senators who opposed the bill as possible. 

NO KENNEDY/McCAIN BILL.  NO AMNESTY.  NO GUEST WORKER PROGRAMS!  NO ANCHOR STATUS!

This has to be the miracle of the ages. Wow! The New York Times! I am also so very happy to see that there are others who believe we have adequate immigration laws without concocting other or more laws. The government started to ignore them about 20 or so years ago. If you read the rest of Mrs. Thibodeoux's statement, she has the absolutely right idea, I believe. We may have to hire some more immigration agents to handle the volumn of people but IT CAN BE DONE. Thank you Steve and all of the other people who worked so hard to get this bill stopped.

If we focus on the one law of comming down on employers for hiring illegals we wont need to do much else. They will be forced to go home on their own.

Bush is trying to shame the senators who oppose the bill by saying we are "racist" and that they could harm their chances in future elections.  This is the arm twisting I'm talking about.  Feinstein said today that she has never received so many anti-illegal racist communications. 

By saying these things they give themselves the option to ignore our protests (faxes, e-mails, calls) by saying it is all just racist whining and they don't stoop to that.  Then they vote for amnesty! 

I DON'T CARE!  They're going to hear from me until I go deaf and my fingers bleed.  This bill is nothing but WRONG and immoral.  These politicians can't stand that we're onto them and their sneaking around passing legislation behind our backs.  The American people have been jarred awake and we are FIGHTING to TAKE BACK OUR COUNTRY and tell the politicians WE ARE ONTO YOU NOW!

       Just when we thought it was safe to go in the water, the sharks are circling.  We need to keep calling Congress now more than ever.  Can you say "Railroad"?  Big business and their lobby will not take this laying down.  We have to assume that there are even more insideous things going on, so we need to keep hammering away on the phones!

      Let's keep restating and clarifying our position.  We need to keep conveying our anti-amnesty stance.  A high pressure sales meeting is going to take place tomorrow when Bush meets with the Republican Senators.  We need to keep this bill in the garbage can!!!
