If we conservatives do not come together, while willing to agreeably disagree about quite a few issues, we are a dying breed, and all of us lose. More importantly, the country we have grown up in and have loved loses. I am aware that many people have a particular issue that trumps all others. I think any of us could take that attitude. I know I feel more strongly about some issues than I do others. But come on, if we take this attitude and cast it in stone, we can all kiss our dreams good-bye. In this respect, the liberals will win everytime because for them the goal is WINNING, not winning for a cause., and they will do WHATEVER IS NECESSARY TO WIN.
Could we set up some rules by which we function while trying to unite? I will list a few that may be acceptable, and will be thrilled to see more people post their ideas, rules, etc. But we do not need undercutting, belittling, insults, etc. because that is a waste of precious time and is counterproductive. Possibilities include:
No poster on this site insults another. Teasing O.K. Deriding not O.K.
No poster states with total emphatic assertion that he is right and everybody else is wrong.
No poster casts nasty slurs against any elected official. Yes, it is possible. For eight years I bit my tongue during the Clinton reign.
The reason I suggest the "rules" listed above is that these are the things that trigger emotional outbursts which lead to more outbursts, etc. We need less emotion and more solid planning if we are in fact serious about getting things on a sane track again.
Are there things that will block us? Probably. Do we then cave in? Nope. We go forward. Anyone interested, let's hear from you.
