I am brand new as of today. I joined because there is a strategy that has been forgotten to get back power. There is a (forgotten) power in the constitution that is at the crux of grassroots efforts. It is not a legal solution (to involve the judicial branch would be to hand over the peoples authority to the judicial branch which is being taken to "world courts" anyway). Here goes. For America there is for the time being a constitution. And in this constitution there is a power. And in this forgotten and untaught (unamendable) power is a seed of hope to get first America out of the clutches of the world pathocracy. The power that I refer to is called "instruction" the effect of the fifth article in the US constitution: the clause without which it would not have been adopted. What it says is "No state shall be deprived its equal suffrage in the senate without its consent." How this was historically used was in controlling non-compliant US Senators with the threat of kicking them out of office. The State representatives gave the US Senators precise instructions issue by issue on how they were to vote. If they did not, they could be recalled. In practice, they simply vacated their office. Though this power fell into complete disuse when the 17th amendment (popular vote instead of appointment for US Senators), It is the only article in the US constitution that cannot be amended. This forgotten power has the people instruct their state legislators to instruct their senators (they still have to instruct their representatives directly) My friend, constitutional scholar and carpenter Roger Mundy figured this out, researched it and confirmed its existence historically. I produced a video of his presentation (humble production but his presentation is easy to listen to and concise) I, as overwhelmed as anyone felt hope when I first listened to his talk. We have made efforts, they are just not fast enough. Everyone has to learn this power including the state reps. If you are interested in, Roger's video can be watched here, downloaded and shared. http://vimeo.com/194788
I love it "The Grassroots Power of People". And since fire society is linked with grassroots, I wonder if Steve Elliot can help with a petition or something to put those senators on notice. Or maybe that is not the way to go--I'm still trying to process this.
I know, me too. Not even the State Legislators know their power...yet. They need to be directed away from the groups like American Legislative Exchange Council, Council of State Governments, where the States are "instructed" on how to do the Federal Governments bidding. I'm seeing this right now with the immigration issue.
Susan , hope you don't mind, I put your info into an active thread on recalling senators, and started a new active thread titled "Check out thread on "FOGOTTEN POWER". Your thread was kind of hidden out of the beaten pathway and everyone needs to see what you added. By doing this, it keeps your thread out front and center!
The material is not copywrited. It's for all of us. We own that power. I am thrilled that you are helping get it out there. I am grateful that you are helping the message go in the right direction!
"A long habit of not thinking a thing wrong, gives it a superficial appearance of being right, and raises at first a formidable outcry in defense of custom." Thomas Paine
I'm proud to see many state legislators waking up and taking action for us against the North American Union, NAFTA Superhighway, illegal immigration, etc......
Alabama born and bred. Where we "Dare Defend our Rights!"
He says all of the State Legislators, senate and house. This would include the committees, but I wish he would hurry up and get on here. How bout a grassfire? And thanks for the link!
