Senator McCain's office phones were being answered by a machine that said the mailbox was full, on each of several tries.  I emailed him and his office staff.  He is one of the sponsors, so I know how he is voting.

Senator Kyl's staff said thank you for the call and that Senator Kyl is voting no on all amnesty bills and they affirmed that this is just a rerun of last years amnesty bill.

I can't stand McCain.  He's a RINO and he can't be trusted.  I love Kyl; with few exceptions he votes as I wish .

Hmm can I pastee his reply .. Just got this and I fired right back off

In the coming weeks, you will hear much more about the effort to do something about the problem of illegal immigration and my role in seeking to forge a bipartisan consensus that would reflect the reality that Democrats now control Congress, but that Republicans are not powerless if we’ll fight hard for what we believe. Attached is an op-ed I wrote that ran in yesterday’s Arizona Republic. I’ll send more details soon. In the meantime, if you have any comments or questions, please contact me at info@jonkyl.com, and I’ll do my best to respond.

Thanks again for all of your support during my campaign.

          Sincerely,

          JON KYL

No seats on sideline of immigration task

By Jon Kyl
The Arizona Republic
May. 20, 2007

In last year's election, voters said one thing loud and clear: DO SOMETHING ABOUT ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION!

Of course, there were a lot of different opinions about what should be done, but more inactivity was clearly not an option.

Separate bills approved by the U.S. House and Senate last year were considered unpalatable by the vast majority of Americans. One version did not adequately address our broken immigration system, and the other was too permissive in its automatic path to citizenship for illegal immigrants and even guest workers. So, nothing changed. Meanwhile, every day, thousands of illegal immigrants continue to pour across our border (roughly 10 percent are serious criminals), workplace enforcement is a joke, and crime and violence are escalating.

Now the Democrats control Congress, and it's clear a Democrat-only bill would be more liberal than the bill I unsuccessfully opposed last year. I was presented with a choice: Sit on the sidelines and complain about a bad bill or work hard to ensure that any bill that passed the Senate is one influenced as much as possible by my principles.

For weeks, senators and administration officials have been working to forge a bill that secures our border, creates workable and effective interior and workplace enforcement, realistically deals with the people illegally here, and designs a truly temporary worker program that responds to the nation's fluctuating labor needs.

In these meetings, Republicans insisted on achieving certain milestones in interior and border security (like hiring 18,000 Border Patrol agents and constructing 370 miles of fencing) before allowing any visas for illegal immigrants - marking a departure from last year's approach, which resisted any attempts to provide "triggers" before the border was substantially secured.

Republicans also insisted on an effective and enforceable electronic employment verification system that would prevent employers from hiring illegal workers and provide stiff penalties for those who violate the law. This verification system also must be fully operational before "triggering" other features of the bill.

Within one year, all illegal immigrants would have to come forth and begin a process to become legal. Those who don't will be deported when they're caught. Those who cannot meet the conditions of their probationary period also will be required to return home.

Republicans also successfully demanded that the temporary worker program require workers to return home after two years and that the program not serve as a path to citizenship.

Opponents of amnesty have always insisted that Congress end the opportunities for "chain migration" - bringing in relatives who ultimately become U.S. citizens - and that is done in this bill. In addition, future green cards will be given on the basis of merit, favoring those with key job skills, education and English-language proficiency.

The bottom line for Democrats was a citizenship opportunity for most illegal immigrants, but we were able to deny an automatic path to citizenship. Under the bill, all permanent resident applicants must apply from the back of the line, from their home country, pay higher fines than in last year's bill, pass a criminal background check and show a nearly perfect work history, English proficiency and familiarity with American civics. Those with the best records would have the highest priority for a green card, but none could earn citizenship in less than 13 years.

Obviously there is much more to the bill than these few highlights. There are many provisions I don't like, and equally as many that some Democratic senators don't like. A number of special-interest lobby groups are already screaming for changes. If the consensus we reach is not accurately reflected in the final legislative language, or is seriously undercut by amendments in the Senate or House, it will lose support, including from me. What we have shown is it that a bipartisan consensus is possible. The American people will have to determine if it is what they want; but for me, failing to try is not a solution.

Jon Kyl, a Republican, is a United States senator representing Arizona.

My reply

We said Close the Borders irst .. then do something about legal immigration

Honorable Senator,

Please do not twist what we the American citizens worked hard for last year. The border closure, period. We cannot get past that brush off easily.  The people you are attempting to offer citizenship to are ( technicly ) felons. As was obvious by the American legislatures bill last year declaring that.

You or your office has heard from me on this subject more than a few times.I have very personal experiences and real concerns My girls 6, and 8 the year before last were waiting in the car for my  husband a quick in -out convience store there was a screech , loud bang and boom.. yelling and shots fired to my horror the sensation that went through the length of my body is parylizing fear as I screamed to my girls get down on the floor. Where we all stayed.

My girls elementary school had a drug issue this year. That is an elementary school. Harris Elementary school.

Now there is even more at stake as Democrat,Republican and other parties, faiths, gender and race all American Citizens feel we are being ignored. But worst we all feel we have been deceived equally.

If we face such a real threat from an attack as we are told by all our elected officials. Why then when Airline traffic can come to a halt in a matter of hours is the closeing the United States border completly to control illegal crossing so hard.

It makes us all reflect real hard on the percieved threat we have been swallowing and handing our hard fought rights over to do our part to keep our children and country safe.

Senator get the picture.. you can try and pull something in the dark but when we get the slimey thing out into the light Americans honest hard working Americans don't like what we see here.

I sent this on to the Whitehouse today. Everyone  in the Senate and Congress who played along with the "terror" threat  has spilt blood on their hands.

I voted for you all TWICE.

I support the Military, Border Patrol, Local and National Peace Officers. I honor and respect their service. You are doing neither, You show no regard for their service, of their personal and their families sacrafice.

You have them prosecuted for doing their jobs.

You are so very wrong about ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS. You are so wrong on not closing the border.  Mr. President you bring everything you have done these past 7+ years into question.

EVERYTHING.

Did you indeed lie and make up a war on Terror? Because if there was that serious a threat , that much fear, that much danger, as you and your cabinent told the WORLD and still do. Why have the borders been OPEN before and since 9/11.

You Closed every airport in this country, disrupted air traffic worldwide.

But you never closed and sealed the BORDER.

The legacy you are leaving to us, the American citizens and the world,  is your LIES.

Those lies effected relations throughout  the entire world. We the American people will be left to clean up after you, left with the broken shattered pieces of the mightiest nation in the world. The  remains of the greatest country, "THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" we the Citizens, built, love and serve.

Its not possible to tell by looking or even listening whether they are legal or not.  I am not opposed to immigration.  I want our borders closed and all of the illegal immigrants deported.  I am not in favor of punishing businesses that employ legal residents, Mexican or otherwise.  I do not patronize business that closed their doors on May 1 in sympathy with the "poor downtrodden people who just wanted to earn a living."  Let them enter legally and pay taxes while they earn a living. That's who America is made up of.

Deported.. ?

That is why I said American business, even in Az their are plenty of places

Plenty of employers that hire illegals are well, well known.. you can find lists on the net.

I am not talking about your local walmart,  your right that would be hard to tell.

I use a local Basha or AJ's

Need yard work done, call a contractor if he dumps a crew that doesn't  speak any english you just found one.

The pizza Place and Italian resturant I use has real Italians working there.

Thats the point find and use business wjho are REALLY paying the taxes and social Security and insurance  and attempting to live the American dream

If you are unsure and afraid to ask  Leave why support a business that is not paying taxes, insurance or Social Security

Deported .. won't need to if you don't frequent places that employ them.  Or suspect , I have no qualms walking into a field office and making the general contractor know how I feel.

I got through to both McCain and Kyl's office. Both support the bill. Kyl's office says the bill is not amnesty. I asked why the 854 miles of border fence that was passed last year and is LAW now has not been built and that this new bill only requires a little over 300 miles. They said no funds were available. I told them then where did they think the funds for the massive increase in welfare and medical care for the newly minted legals was going to come from---no answer-dead silence--stumped the liars. They also claim that anyone who does not step forward and get the Z amnesty visa will be deported. I asked how that could possibly happen when the 300,000 illegals here now who have been ordered deported have not been and in fact the government does not even know where they are. Guess what? NO ANSWER Ya gotta love it

Lin, It's interesting that Kyl's office is saying he will vote no on amnesty???? I am fairly sure he was a key player in helping to come to this "so-called" compromise???? Remember the senator's that are for this bill claim it's not amnesty! You might want to do a little more homework! : )

Kyl voted yea on the immigration bill.  Give him the boot!  He's up for re-election in 2012 so I'm guessing he feels pretty safe.  But don't forget to let him know that you have a long memory!

What do the Mothers Against Illegal Aliens think of Kyl?

I was listening to them.  They can twist and turn this bill anyway they care too, it's still going to be a piece of manure!  I have my stuff together on this and last years bill. It all smells!  We need to enforce our current immigration laws and ship the illegals out of the country period.  I have zero sympathy for any of them.  They are in this country illegally and have broken the current laws on the books, they have no rights, they need to get out!  Please, if you have information on the "good' elected Representatives let us all know who they are!  Tom Tancredo, and Ron Paul?  That I would agree with.  I'll vote for Tom or Ron but not one of the others!  While you're at it read the link I posted... Maybe you could learn something...

Beware of the language they use, they are very subtile in the elusive language they use. Did anyone see Charlie Ragnel on Lou Dobbs last night, and Charlie's elusive approach to Fast Track Authority, for the president. They are negotiating even more Trade Agreements. The Democrats are going to give a Republican President fast track authority, I believe there is a message there. The two party system is owned by the same Globalist.

Senator Kyl not only supports the bill, he was involved in the "behind the door" negotiations! For those of you who say, "let the poor victims in," you obviously have not researched how any form of amnesty will affect your pocket book! I don't know about you, but 1.3 trillion is a bit excessive and until we are fully taking care of our own, we have no business extending our hand to those who don't belong here! Imperative to understand this issue completely before making such statements as some are making!

midnighthighways. . .sounds like you're the one that needs to get the facts right! Odd that he would be involved in the putting together of this bill, yet vote no?  This senator has been all over the news as one that supports this bill! Don't believe everything you're told! Know the facts!

I called the offices of both senators this morning.  I spoke to an aid of senator Kyle.  Kyle will consider the bill based on what amendments are proposed for it.  In effect, he is going to vote for one form of the bill or another despite what I had to say in opposition to it.  I only got McCain's answering system to leave him a message - but we know how he will vote.

This bill will not be voted on before June in the Senate and not before July in the House.  We still have time to let them see the faces behind the phone calls, faxes, and letters!

Join in on the March for America!  June 14,15,16, 2007 and the 16th in the states!  Please let them see how many American citizens stand against this bill.... Don't allow them to walk all over us again!

Check out the Traitor John campaign and donate.  Check out the "Let your voices be heard "campaign!  Don't waste time thinking it over, just do it!

Arizona! They need help to set the march up in your state!  Please help if you can!

The new French president has it right about how to handle illegals.   Read this article and send it on to your elected reps, maybe they can learn something!
