Let's use this thread to help us track how Senators say they are going to vote on the Bush-Kennedy amnesty bill. Find stories online or better yet -- call and document how these senators from this state are going to vote. If you call, include date/time of your call.
Switchboard: 202-224-3121.
Be sure to ask:
1--Does the senator support the Bush-Kennedy comprehensive amnesty bill?
2-- Will the Senator vote to "invoke cloture" (i.e. end debate) on the amnesty bill?
Go to www.KGAB.com and click on The Morning Zone, there is a list of Wyoming politicans and how to contact them there. Both Senators Thomas and Enzi have articles there on there about their thoughts on the immigration bill. Looks like they will both vote against it.
Will keep calling and emailing the others, keep up the good work all of you. I think we ARE making a difference !
I am glad to say that both Senators Thomas and Enzi do not approve of the procedures in presenting the bill and will not vote for a blanket amnesty of any kind. I believe that continued calls in regard to our security and the releasing of our Border Agents (perjured by witnesses) and other law enforcement officers doing their duty is a first before any passing of any bill on immigration. The immigration laws are sound and an amnesty of this magnitude does not solve the problem of illegal entry into our country and the threat to our interior well being. Regardless of the media reports that no jihad elements have crossed or have been intercepted crossing the southern border, the government reports otherwise, and should be made public by all means and with expedience.
Let us call the same Senators with the facts of American trial procedures when a witness has lied in presenting testimony against a US citizen when a defendant in this country. I believe in any court in this country if we still have or maintain a justice system, a mistrial would be the course of action by the court. Why are our Border Agents and Deputies in prison, Mr. Kennedy and Mr. Dean and I am sorry to say Mr. McCain.
I WAS IN NEW YORK NOT LONG AGO AND I VISITED LADY LIBERTY. TEARS CAME DOWN MY FACE WHEN I STOOD IN FRONT OF HER AND I SAW A BIG TEAR ON HER CHEEK SO I ASKED HER WHAT'S WRONG? THEY WANT TO HAVE CHILDREN HERE, SO THEY BECOME AMERICAN'S THEY DON'T PAY TAXES, YET WANT FREE CARE AND COST THE REAL AMERICANS BILLIONS. WHERE DID I GO WRONG SHE ASKED ME...I SAID YOU DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WRONG WE STILL HAVE THE MILLIONS OF "LEGAL" AMERICANS THAT WILL FIGHT WITH THEIR BLOOD, SWEAT, AND TEARS FOR OUR COUNTRY AND THEY WILL MAKE OUR CONGRESS AND SENATE START DOING THE RIGHT THINGS FOR OUR COUNTRY AND I PROMISE YOU THAT....OK? 12 million criminals along with their supporters have supported two "Days without immigrants" to teach us, the real citizens of this nation, that they are a major impact on our nation. Let's show them and all our "elected representatives" what imact really means. Let's have a "Day Without Citizens". I suggest July 5, it will make our July 4 activities safer. Here is what I propose, no one go to work, no one buy anything, if you own a business shut it down. Do NOT protest in any way, stay home, go picnicing, but don't buy anything. Do NOT go to the movies or out to eat. Just shut down the economy and see who has the real power in this nation. Of course all the 12 million criminals and their supporters will work but let's see if they have the power to make our absence a minor blip because that's what we did to their "Day Without Immigrants".
1. 40% of all workers in L.A. County ( L.A. County has 10.2 million people) are working for cash and not paying taxes. This is because they are predominantly illegal immigrants working without a green card. 2. 95% of warrants for murder in Los Angeles are for illegal aliens. 3. 75% of people on the most wanted list in Los Angeles are illegal aliens 4. Over 2/3 of all births in Los Angeles County are to illegal alien Mexicans on Medi-Cal , whose births were paid for by taxpayers. 5. Nearly 35% of all inmates in California detention centers are Mexican nationals here illegally. 6. Over 300,000 illegal aliens in Los Angeles County are living in garages. 7. The FBI reports half of all gang members in Los Angeles are most likely illegal aliens from south of the border. 8. Nearly 60% of all occupants of HUD properties are illegal. 9. 21 radio stations in L.A. are Spanish speaking. 10. In L.A. County 5.1 million people speak English, 3.9 million speak Spanish. (There are 10.2 million people in L.A. County ). (All of the above are from the Los Angeles Times) Less than 2% of illegal aliens are picking our crops, but 29% are on welfare. Over 70% of the United States ' annual population growth (and over 90% of California , Florida , and New York ) results from immigration. 29% of inmates in federal prisons are illegal aliens. Our leaders are fools for letting this continue.WHY CAN'T WE SEND THEM HOME ? UNITED WE STAND - GOD BLESS AMERICA
The new French president has it right about how to handle illegals. Read this article and send it on to your elected reps, maybe they can learn something!
Thank Goodness for our Senators/Rep I agree about the day without a citizen, damn good idea! We need to spread the word and get er done! I live in Mexi-Hole, I mean Jackson Hole, our schools are now 38% Hispanic. The Mexicans have parties at the County Fair Building almost every Saturday night and drive the neighbors crazy with their "bump, thump, thumping"music. We all call the cops 2-4 times a night and the cops have to waste their time going over there to tell them to turn it down, which they do for about 30 min. and then it goes back up. I think they should call ICE over there, but the Chief of police say's that you can't assume that they are illegal just because they are Mexicans. Hmm, a mounth ago the newspaper said that our county jail had 58 illegals in it and that there were alot more people being caught without drivers licenses. ALso they had to cut down the bushes and trim the trees on the town square because the cops can't see through the bushes and they don't have time to patrol the park as often as they like (because they are responding to noise complaints?) a couple summers ago we had a rape and an attempted rape on the same night on the town square, one girl raped by 4 illegals and the other by 2 illegals. Last summer my neighbor saw two people having sex under my porch, at least one of these people was Hispanic. I don't wan't my kid to see that there were 9 Mexicans living in a 2 bed apartment running a illegal daycare who were living (tormenting) next door to us for a while. thank fully my landlord kicked them out when he found out (was only supose to be 5), that and the fact that they were late on their rent. Alos I fell on some ice at taco bell last march and tried to tell the workers there about it but none of them could understand me, they are a danger to us when they don't understand English, oh I forgot I am suppose to learn Spanish. My son was forced to be in a study group at school. There were 4 people in the group and 2 were Mexican. One spoke NO English (after being here at least 2 years) the other spoke very little English. Now I wouldn't really care who is in his group except that this is a group grade and he was stuck with them for almost a Quarter. Jacksoon Hole is a safe haven for illegals. Just because business's are desperate for help the community thinks it is ok to turn a blind eye to the invasion. They say that more are being deported because ICE has step up tp pick these people up, but ONLY if they reach the jail. so if they don't get into trouble they are free to stay here. Also the highway patrol will call ICe if they suspest someone is illegal. This is a step in the right direction, but I would like to see them go further.
hello wyoming! i've been calling and faxing sens. enzi and thomas. i have faith in them. they've done a good job so far but their numbers usa report cards could be better.
secureborders, it sounds like there's a huge problem up there in jackson hole. i would be so angry if my child was forced to learn spanish. i know that colorado has a major problem now with illegals. we have not been hit hard yet in cheyenne but it's only a matter of time. our fast food places still have english speaking high school kids working there. if that changes to illegal aliens, i will not be eating there anymore. hang in there and keep fighting the good fight.
have a good memorial day weekend! support our troops.
Been to the mall lately? About as many people speak english as spanish - many times it's the children that are speaking english and spanish to their parents.(I work there)
Senator Thomas is ill and has not been voting on S.1348 -I am not sure of his vote when he does participate -
Senator Enzi has been responding to me however and is voting against any form of amnesty-
Both Thomas and Enzi are for guestworkers however in every response I have received from them on this issue - as is Cubin.
Why aren't we pushing louder for them to scrap this garbage and give us enforcement and border security only as the house passed last year?
I am tired of their not listening to the people that PAY them.
I live in Oklahoma and am so very proud that our two Senators, Inhofe and Coburn, as well as all 5 Congresspeople are firmly against anything that smells like amnesty.
I would also like to say I do not think it is productive for people to be lobbying the Senators from other states on this issue. It only creates a huge workload for them, and they do not pay any attention to those outside their state anyway.
It would be nice to send a post card to the ones who voted NAY on cloture saying simply "THANK YOU for your position on S.1348"
.
GET CONGRESS ATTENTION! CHANGE YOUR W-4 AT WORK AND CLAIM 10 DEPENDENTS SO NO TAXES WILL BE TAKEN FROM YOUR PAYCHECK. WHEN THE MONEY STOPS COMING IN MAYBE THEY WILL REMEMBER THEY ARE SERVANTS TO WE THE PEOPLE.
WYOMING: Please go to this site and sign the petition. 25 State Legislatans have formed a coalition to fight this bill. Can't remember if WY was one of them, but either way they need your support. If WY wasn't, you can contact your Dist. State Reps and push them. This is IMPORTANT. The State REPS SPEAK FOR THE PEOPLE and have power with the US SENATE and REPS.
Senator Craig Thomas (R) Wyoming is in serious condition with a return of Leukema, he is in a hospital in Maryland.
Senator Thomas was a definite NO vote on the immigration bill. The future of America may have depended on his vote. NOW WHAT ? The vote may be so close it's scary. The other Wyoming Senator, Enzi, has said he will vote no. This may change everything.
4th of July, the "No Longer Silent" majority rally. It would almost seem scripted... Get the word out. Email your friends, call local and national shows definitely Rush, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, Michael Savage. Let's make it happen!
Our illustrious Wyoming Senator, (R) Mike Enzi, was evidently to busy to vote on the amnesty bill. True, our other Senator Thomas just passed away and a funeral here in Wyoming is oncoming.
Still, Senator Enzi represents an entire state, not just one person or one family. This was a very important bill and the voting could have been much closer. I'm finished with him, he will never again get my vote.
He may have been between a rock and a hard place on this bill and decided it was safer not not vote at all.
I also noted that Enzi did not vote on cloture. I e-mailed him right away to tell him that was bull becuase we only have one Senate vote right now and we needed him to speak for the people of Wyoming. What reason could he have for not voting? I told him that the reason I voted for him was because of the immigration issue and that he has let us down! I think he was playing it safe as well.
Please post anything that you find interesting and of value on other boards. There may be national campaigns that you are aware of that can be of value to other states. There may also be stories or information from more enlightened people that we can all make use of to educate ourselves and to act on. Do not hold back information! Share, share and share.
Here are your talking points for Senate calls today .... Unflip the FLIPPIN' FIFTEEN
ERROR ALERT: Friends, a little earlier I accidentally sent out a draft of an alert I was still working on. You will have noted it sort of ended abruptly in the middle and didn't deliver the names of targets.
What ran at the bottom was an article by NumbersUSA's Jim Edwards that was written and published before Sen. Reid and Sen. McConnell announced a deal to bring the S. 1348 amnesty bill back to the Senate floor next week.
Not enough sleep lately. I apologize for any confusion. Please read on for suggestions for making your phone calls work today.
DEAR FRIENDS,
Apparently 15 Republican Senators who voted NO on cloture on the S. 1348 amnesty bill a week ago have told Senate GOP Leader McConnell (R-Ky.) that they are willing to flip and vote YES next week.
What can you say -- and how -- to these FLIPPIN' FIFTEEN that might "unflip" enough of them to keep the amnesty cloture from getting the necessary 60 votes?
Below are some answers we've picked up from many Senate sources the last couple of days -- as well as from stories that many of you have told us.
202-224-3121
Don't forget to call the local offices of your Senators. Those numbers can be found by clicking here.
We have every reason to believe that the right voices and the right information can still pull a number of the Senators back from supporting S. 1348.
TIP NO. 1: Tell them that the grand compromise of S. 1348 makes Senators accept a huge amnesty in exchange for a promise to end future illegal immigration. But the bill's actual provisions make no promises of lower illegal immigration and set no numerical reduction goals at all.
While most phone calls to Senators recently have stressed the caller's hatred of amnesty, it might be a good idea today to focus on whether the trade-off for the amnesty can work.
There are a number of good reasons to think that many of the Flippin' Fifteen truly believe that, as much as they regret accepting an amnesty, it can be justified because illegal immigration will finally be brought under control.
You need to find every opportunity to tell staffers, Senators and anybody else that the bill is unworkable in fighting illegal immigration. Look at Rosemary Jenks' short summary of the details of S. 1348. (Scroll down to BACKGROUND INFORMATION.)
TIP NO. 2: "Show me the results, not just the money."
Pres. Bush and the chief architects of this giant amnesty for 12-20 million illegal aliens have just now persuaded more than a dozen Republicans to change their votes in part because the President is promising a big increase in spending on enforcement.
But we've seen huge amounts of money spent on enforcement in the past with little result.
Let staffers know that the only thing that counts with you is proof of substantial reductions in future illegal immigration. Even if somebody thinks it a good idea to reward millions of illegal aliens with the right to work and live here, surely it makes sense to withhold any legalization until funding and enforcement efforts have actually resulted in substantial reductions of the illegal population?
TIP NO. 3: Talk facts and details.
Staffers are listening for any details about the bill that show you know what you are talking about. Some of these fence-straddling Senators have been expressing amazement about all the details many voters in their states know about S. 1348.
When Pres. Bush came to their lunch Tuesday, people in the room said his body language and facial expressions showed genuine surprise at the number of Senators who told him that it isn't just the "immigration crazies" who are objecting to the bill. Rather, they said, regular middle class people are expressing their distrust and backing it up with real details from the bill.
TIP NO. 4: Speak calmly.
Staffers' ear drums are ringing from a month of outrage shouted at them through the phones. They're tuning it out now. What gets their attention is a conversational tone from a constituent who sincerely shares a concern. Passion can be expressed calmly. (Always try to think of these staffers as perhaps slightly inexperienced nieces and nephews who could use a litle kindness.)
TIP NO. 5: All "touch back" provisions that require the illegal aliens to leave the country briefly are meaningless to voters concerned about amnesty.
Pro-amnesty leaders use the touch-back provisions to try to fool voters into thinking that the illegal aliens would be allowed to live here permanently in a process no different from anybody else.
In fact, though, the illegal aliens would just be doing the hokey pokey ("put your right foot out / put your right foot in / put your fight foot out / and then you can pretend"). The permanent residence they would be given would be possible only because they broke the law in the first place.
But most importantly, these touch-back provisions so dear to Sen. Hutchinson (R-Texas) have nothing to do with slowing down illegal immigration in the future.
TIP NO. 6: Note to them that Ted Kennedy has already pushed SEVEN amnesties into law. None was followed by a reduction in illegal immigration. Why should anybody believe this one will be?
1. In 1986, Ted Kennedy's blanket amnesty for 2.7 million illegal aliens promised a lot more enforcement but did not set any requirments for actual reductions in illegal immigration. The illegal flow continued. 2. In 1994, Ted Kennedy's Section 245(i) Amnesty gave legal residence and jobs to 578,000 illegal aliens. It was a temporary rolling amnesty primarily for extended family members of immigrants who instead of waiting in line, come on to the country illegally. The illegal flow continued. 3. In 1997, Ted Kennedy's extension of the Section 245(i) rolling amnesty was followed by an increasing flow of illegal immigration. 4. In 1997, Ted Kennedy also won an amnesty for close to one million illegal aliens from Central America. Illegal immigration sped up some more. 5. In 1998, Ted Kennedy won an amnesty for 125,000 illegal aliens from Haiti. The illegal flow continued. 6. In 2000, Ted Kennedy got the so-called Late Amnesty, legalizing another 400,000 illegal aliens who claimed that they missed out on Kennedy's 1986 amnesty. Illegal immigration continued unimpeded. 7. In 2000, Ted Kennedy also won the LIFE Act Amnesty for an estimated 900,000 illegal aliens. It was another reinstatement of the rolling Section 245(i) amnesty., an estimated 900,000 illegal aliens. Illegal immigration accelerated.
Now, Ted Kennedy is saying that this amnesty is necessary if we are ever to stop the flow of illegal aliens. Why would any of these Senators believe him when he says this amnesty bill will end illegal immigration with a track record like his?
WHICH ONES OF THESE WILL BE THE FLIPPIN' FIFTEEN?
You may want to put most of your effort into this list. All of the se are vulnerable to changing positions since they were willing to vote for cloture last year on an even worse McCain/Kennedy amnesty bill.
These are the Republican Senators who ended up voting NO on cloture last week. But they were willing to vote YES last year. This shows a vulnerability to flip. Can you stop them?
(Names marked with an * are up for re-election in 2008.)
In addition, Sen. Brownback (R-Kan.) didn't cast a vote last week but he was a strong YES voter for amnesty last year.
The following Senators voted NO on amnesty cloture both last year and last week. But our friends and our lobbying staff believe they need bolstering to keep them from falling for Ted Kennedy's latest amnesty.
That makes 23 from whom Sen. McConnell can hope to get just 15 votes to pass cloture and the amnesty next week.
Several days of voting on amendments could start as early as next Tuesday.
One of our members wrote to me a little after midnight and noted a quote from Winston Churchill's "Memoirs of the Second World War."
Criticizing the British politicians in the years before WWII, Churchill wrote:
"The left and the right joined forces with fatuity at a terrible price to be paid later."
The American Heritage dictionary (New College Edition) defines "fatuity" as "stupidity conveyed with an air of pride or self-satisfaction."
The followers of Ted Kennedy and George Bush can't stop patting themselves on the back in pride for their grand immigration compromise. But what a price we will all pay if they succeed.
When you call the offices of the above Senators, you will be giving them a chance to escape this great fatuity of our time.
