Let's use this thread to help us track how Senators say they are going to vote on the Bush-Kennedy amnesty bill. Find stories online or better yet -- call and document how these senators from this state are going to vote. If you call, include date/time of your call.

Switchboard: 202-224-3121.

Be sure to ask:

1--Does the senator support the Bush-Kennedy comprehensive amnesty bill?

2-- Will the Senator vote to "invoke cloture" (i.e. end debate) on the amnesty bill?

I was told Elizabeth Dole will not vote for this proposal....but I wouldn't bet on her word.

She also says as of right now she want vote for cloture.....hmmm

I still don't know what Burr is doing..he's all over the page with his comments.

I was told today the Dole will vote "NO" on cloiture and S.1248, and Burr will vote "NO" on S.1348.

 I'll ask again tomorrow!

I was told Dole will vote "NO". When I called Senator Burr's office, the gentleman basically told me that Senator Burr had not come forward with his stance yet.

Dole's staff said "the Senator is opposed to this bill".  Didn't say would vote NO.  Burr's said "he has already announced his opposition".  Again, didn't say specifically that he would vote NO.

Although I'm a registered Republican, I don't trust either of them, so I plan to call again later this week.

I see this morning that Dole voted against cloture, while Burr voted for it.

Burr's rep says this means he wants more debate.  Isn't that exactly opposite of voting for cloture?

Cloture is a procedural vote to end debate. In this case, they were technically placing last year's bill on the floor and needed a cloture vote to do that. Today, they replace last year's with this year's and then begin debate, which is now expected to last two weeks. As I understand it, there will need to be another cloture vote to end debate. That will be the key vote.

It is a FACT that the whereabouts of every cow in this country is known by the government.  How is it that we can't find millions of illegal PEOPLE?

Results: Give everyone a cow.

Since when have you known a Politician to be forthright about anything? Let alone this issue. Thier vote is cast based on who pays them more. Votes are bought based on what big business wants, not what the common man wants.
I get emails from another service that tells me how they vote on issues and what bils are coming up for a vote. Its called Mega Vote. Sadly, I have seen thier personal opinion totally reversed when it came to the actual vote. While thier talking heads are saying one thing, they are actually doing something else.
When was the last time you called thier office and actually spoke to them? Not thier press manager, not thier secretary/assistant/whatever they want to call them this week to be PC, but the actual elected official themselves? Never happened in my book, so how can they say they represent me? They don't! They represent big business, who's pockets are deep and well lined.
I will believe that they represent me when they actually take my call, or sit down and talk with me in person. Letter and email don't cut it. I want to see them face to face or hear thier voice on the other end of the telephone.
We DON'T need more laws, we need to enforce the laws we have. If we need bigger budgets, it is not because of the fact that americans are demanding more pay, it is because we have to keep paying the POLITICIANS more to do the job they were elected to do, and should do for free. Here is an idea to fund the current law enforcement problem, cut the elected officials pay in half, take that money and apply it to enforcing the laws we have. Hell with just that money we could build that 30 foot high wall across the entire southern border AND MAN IT 24/7! Take them off the "golden fleece" medical plan, and put thier ass on Medicare, and that saves even more money, it would have a side benefit of fixing the medicare system as well.
Seriously, when was the last time you saw an HONEST and LOYAL TO CONSTITUENTS politician. In my lifetime, I never have!

Two thumbs up for Miss Libby and two thumbs down for the Mr. Burr.  Looks like Mr. Burr will be a one-time Senator.

Dichotomy, I have been very fortunate to know two.  One was Mike Joyce, former councilmember on the Cary Town Council.  He resigned because the low-lifes voted to give some illegal alien organization $5,000 so they could display "culutral awareness."   A straight up guy and pull no punches.  By trade he was a plumber.

The other one is a man to be admired by all.  His name is Ron Margiotta and he is currently service on the Wake County School Board.  Most votes on the schol board are 8 to 1, his being the one.  Everyday, he stands against the pure evil of the other board members and evil doers at the Wake Count "Palace of Education."  He too is a straight up guy that will cover your back.

I applaud them with all my gratitude, sadly, I do not live in that area, so they do me no good, and they cut thier own throats for going any further doing it. Just by standing up and being honest and open. Like I said, I would love to see politicians forced to wear corporate sponsor jackets so we know for a fact who had bought them. I think the country needs more people like those two men. Sadly , it will never get them.

I guess our only action to take would be to vote in independant's and do away with the other two parties, cause they are proven wafflers.

I'll tell you exactly why Richard Burr hasn't come forth with a position yet. Watch the GOP debate reaction from the campaign spokesmen; it's the 5th video down (the one with Burr's face):

http://search2.foxnews.com/search?acc...

He's McCain's lead campaign endorser. Senator Burr has had a good record of opposing amnesty legislation in the past:

http://immigrationstance.diggersrealm...

However, my bet is that since he's supporting McCain's presidential campaign, he just might be willing to compromise his stance and throw in with the amnesty crowd this go-around. I guarantee he's feeling the pressure from McCain. We'll see....

Did you hear that the NC Senate passed a bill last week which states that all Presential electoral college votes MUST follow the popular vote of the rest of the nation.

In other words, my vote doesn't matter.  If the whole state votes for a Republican say 80/20% but the national popular vote is 51 Dem/49 Rep, then the electoral delegates MUST vote 100% for the 51% Dem candidate.

This must be defeated in the NC House!  If it passes there is no reason for anyone in NC to vote for a presidential candidate.....talk about encouraging voter apathy!!!
