Let's use this thread to help us track how Senators say they are going to vote on the Bush-Kennedy amnesty bill. Find stories online or better yet -- call and document how these senators from this state are going to vote. If you call, include date/time of your call.

Switchboard: 202-224-3121.

Be sure to ask:

1--Does the senator support the Bush-Kennedy comprehensive amnesty bill?

2-- Will the Senator vote to "invoke cloture" (i.e. end debate) on the amnesty bill?

Senator Ben Nelson does not support the amnesty bill but voted for debate. Senator Hagel voted for debate. His office, when called yesterday to check whether he supported the amnesty bill, could not give out that information. Like who does he think he is working for? From past history, he is for amnesty, for in-state tuition, for social security for illegals, for anything he can help give them. His term is up 2008--may he not have another!!

Hagel wants to run for President.  Recently he has stated he may run on an Independent ticket.  He knows he isn't liberal enough to compete as a Democrat and he has lost most of his base as a Republican.  At first I thought he may as well run for president because he won't win reelection in the Senate because of the things he has said the last year or so, but if he runs as Independent he may end up doing the same thing Perot did in '92, gurantee a Democrat (Clinton) President.  Maybe we should all pitch in and show him personally how to deport someone from America.

There is something really wrong with our washington folks.  Hagel is a turn coat policity grabing political climber.  He doesn't seem to care about what WE want.  I've emailed, called and mailed letters to his office.  The only response I got was from the call.  The lady who answered said she'd give him the message.  (like he cares)   It is sooo frustrating.  Everything happening in Washington seems to be for the betterment of the people in office not for the country as a whole.  When does this ride stop?  I want off. Yell

As others have stated, Senator Hagel cast his die last year with Senator Martinez. Nebraskans literally burned up his e-mail with dissent & disgust. His War editiorials have served to alienate whatever base he might have had. If either Bruning or Daub run against him, he will loose in 08.

Senor Hagel must have a retirement villa South of the Border.!

The new French president has it right about how to handle illegals.   Read this article and send it on to your elected reps, maybe they can learn something!

Response today from Sen. Hagels office: I asked why senate members put out a bill without even doing a cosyltsis(2.4trillion), and asked how Sen Hagel was going to vote on that fiasco? She said she couldn't tell me. So I have no doubt he will vote for it. I told her I had a right to know as I voted for him. I also informed her I would never vote for him in any capacity again. I asked where he stood on the Vitter Amendment and surprise she hadn't heard of it and asked me to spell it. Senator Nelson' office said he had announced Monday that he will vote against the Kennedy bill. He did that on C-SPAN which I saw. So I guess he has no intention of changing his mind.

I don't see how Hagel can sleep.  It's beyond me what he's up to.  What can we do?  I've called, I've e-mailed, I've written.  It's soo frustrating.  I want to ask, and get a response to, "What do you think you're doing?  And WHO are you doing it for?"  I want all these guys exposed.  They need to be held accountable in more ways than just the vote.  Senators shouldn't even be voted in.  If the seventeenth amendment was repealed we would be way better off.

Thank you for letting me vent in here.

Nebraska leans more to the conservative side.  Make up is about 45%D and 55%R.  They have 3 Republican Representatives in Congress.  Each is expected to have only 1 Democrat challenger this year.

Republican Senator Chuck Hagel has announced retirement.  There is a wide field of potential candidates for this open seat, including former NE Senator Bob Kerrey (D) although he told Fox News last October he would not enter the race.

Some important legislative issues have come up in Nebraska and some of the state senators are going wishy-washy and caving to businesses needing illegals.  The press, namely the Omaha World Herald, is presentuing a distorted view of the situation.  The Governor and Attorney General are hanging in there.  Issue going down last week was id'ing illegals in order to obtain state funded services and eliminating in-state tuition for illegals.  Blow by blow below--

WE NEED YOUR HELP!  Our Governor, Attorney General, Heads of
Labor/H.H.S and patriotic Nebraskans are taking a BEATING by our Judiciary
Committee and the local newspaper Omaha World Herald....portraying us as
racists, the ugly American, Lynch Mob and noisy people.

Listed below are two legislative bills and a resolution the Judiciary
Committee killed.  The reference numbers, brief description and contact
information is included.    1)Please call and email asking the senators
to advance these bills and resolution to the floor for a full debate.
2)Forward this email to everyone on your email list 3) Nebraskans can
print and photocopy the flier, hand out to neighbors, at the store -
give it to everyone you see...every day this week!

Our Governor and AG held a press conference asking us to contact these
senators to reconsider their kill votes.    Out of the eight senators
on this committee one (Pete Pirsch) voted in favor.  Senator Chambers at
one point during the hearing (when he used the race/discrimination
card)said "all of you white people back there, be quiet." Schimek said she
was highly offended by LB963.  They took an immediate vote, which
means they did not look at any of the testimony or reports provided by the
proponents.  (Sen Chambers filed a lawsuit against GOD last year
stating God was a terrorist and promoted terrorism, racism etc.).  (Sen Chambers is a real piece of work...also doesn't have email, answering service for his phone and rarely answers his phone)

CALL/EMAIL ASK THEM TO ADVANCE THESE BILLS/RESOLUTION TO THE FLOOR FOR
A FULL DEBATE:

LB963: Requires ALL state agencies to verify through the SAVE program
ALL applicants applying for benefits and services.  Repeals instate
tuition for the children of illegal immigrants.  Denies all
benefits/services except those mandated by federal law (k-12 education, medical
emergency and emergency disaster relief).

LB1170:  Allows the filing of lawsuits against employers of illegal
immigrants for the education, health care and other costs associated with
illegal immigrants.

LR224:  Allows the State of Nebraska to enter into an agreement with
Homeland Security to train and authorize local law enforcement to detain
and process illegal immigrants.
