Let's use this thread to help us track how Senators say they are going to vote on the Bush-Kennedy amnesty bill. Find stories online or better yet -- call and document how these senators from this state are going to vote. If you call, include date/time of your call.

Switchboard: 202-224-3121.

Be sure to ask:

1--Does the senator support the Bush-Kennedy comprehensive amnesty bill?

2-- Will the Senator vote to "invoke cloture" (i.e. end debate) on the amnesty bill?

Both Senators oppose it.

“Although a bill has not yet been released, I have serious concerns about early reports of the legislation, including the status of illegal immigrants already in this country.  Make no mistake about it -- I will continue to oppose any proposal that rewards those who have broken the law to enter this country.” -- Senator Richard Shelby, R-AL

"I will not vote for, and will actively oppose, immigration legislation that does not meet the expectations of the American people on important issues such as border security, citizenship, and a transition to a merit-based 'points' system.

I am deeply concerned with the compromise announced yesterday. Both the process by which the bill will be considered in the Senate and the content of the proposal are troubling. Supporting an agreement on such a complex and important issue cannot be justified when legislation has not yet been written. I will be carefully reading the bill, expected to be about 800 pages, to determine whether the details of the legislation have merit." -- Senator Jeff Sessions, R-AL

Glad to meet you 48th ronin. Write the Montgomery Advertiser alot but haven't had much luck getting printed.  Beat the illegal immigration Invasion drum in the Opelika Auburn News, Valley Times News, and Columbus Ledger Enquirer quite a bit.  I'll check out the forum. Don't know about Brundridge, but our sleepy little town is ate up in illegals of every persuasion for about 2-3 years now.  Keep on trucking and fighting the good fight.

I am sure they will oppose this. They seem like people of their word. I've emailed before on other issues and received replies, unlike other congressmen.

Sen. Shelby is against it; while I believe Sen. Sessions plans to vote no. I asked how many calls the offices have been receiving and they said hundreds. So, hopefully this bill will not get passed!

At 11:30 AM, 5-23-2007, the ladies answering the phone in both offices indicated that Senators Sessions and Shelby would vote NO on the Amnesty Bill and NO on the Cloture Vote.

We need to thank them both and encourage them to stand fast in their opposition.  Encourage them to work to change the opinion of enough of their colleagues to kill this foolishness.

It is not our Senators I am worried about. Senators Session, Shelby and I  are almost on a first name basis....lol...I did send them both a "thank you" note after the vote. I am proud we are from a state that is represented by men who believe like we do... or at least believes we will send them packing if they don't listen.Laughing

I send a nice L O N G  letter to every member that voted for the amnestity and was going to send it to the undecited ones but I have to sleep sometime. Will continue tomorrow.

I'm from montgomery and have lived here most of my life. We are run over by illegals and the only thing they are contributing to our city is more drivers with no insurance and more burden on our tax resouces. The only thing  to come from this bill is more of the same welfare and give away programs which of course means you and I have to pick up the tab. Our country is headed for another revolution so stock up on your ammo. I do hope Americans will get off their ass and do something about it! Please pray that America will wake up and our government will once again take care of America first and not these law breakers comming across our borders. We don't immigration reform. We need our present laws enforced and our border agents to get the backing and suport of the government they work for. They already have the support of the people. May God continue to bless our country and curse the congress that does not do the will of the people!

I have made several phone calls and signed all the petition.  Thanks for all of you doing the same, maybe we can stop this bill from being passed.  It's disgusting to me that our government is providing benefits to illegals and considering making those benefits retroactive when it's next to impossible for some citizens, hard-working citizens at that, to even get by in our country today.  I don't have a problem with anyone coming to the U.S. and becoming a citizen, I welcome those who want to become a part of our country.  I think what we need is government reform, not immigration reform!

I called yesterday also and like that one gentleman said,I talked to real people who had time to listen to my comments and be cordial. I thank God that we have men like Senator Sessions and Shelby. Men who understand right from wrong and know how to stand up and be counted. They truly represent the people of Alabama. Keep rallying Albama, we need to stand firm and be counted. I'm against amnesty and thats all this bill is and I'm totally disappointed in President Bush and what he is trying to do to this great country of ours. He needs to be stopped in his tracks along with Ted Kennedy and all the other intelectual morons who think they will be gaining votes by legalizing these people. Lets keep the pressure on and let em all know how we the American People feel.

Makes me proud to have other Alabamians in the trenches. Let's keep up the heat on the feet of those who sold us out. The politicians that is; poli-Latin for many and Ticks-blood sucking creatures. see dictionary for photos of Kennedy, Schumer, etc.... Need to lean heavily on those who need to change their vote like Chambliss/Isakson, etc...... Also need to e-mail the Republican National Committee and let them know how disappointed you are in the betrayal of trust by those like Chambliss and Isakson of Georgia, who campaigned on a platform of no amnesty.

My hats off to Senator Sessions. I have been watching cspan II all day, and he is on now, and what I find scary is here is a Senator who is saying the exact same things I have been saying for a long time!

Is it possible for those of you in Alabama to send this guy to Nevada to replace Reid? Or at least beat some sense into him? I will pay the plane fair, and lodging for him. This guy has it down.

Have you ever stopped to think, and forgot to start again? Sparks, Nevada (Reno)
