With the Iowa straw poll just a few months away, Grassfire.org is conducting this nationwide online straw poll to measure where grassroots citizens currently stand with regards to the 2008 Presidential election. No candidate or campaign has authorized or sponsored this survey -- this is an independent survey of grassroots Americans.
Survey results in aggregate will be reported to the national media.
To the politicians: I have turned my ears 98% off to you. I do not want to hear your retoric. For once I wish you would forget yourselves and think of what would be best for our country. Is there no man in the land that has a healthy set of values and is willing to stand up?
To the Democrat party and the Republican party: I will not vote for a single one of you, if you refuse to listen to part of the people. I will not vote for anyone - senators, representatives, or president, if all we are planning to do is to give our country away to the illegal immigrants. Where besides here is there a forum to voice and have My Senator, My representative, and My political party listen to my wishes. I will not be voting for illegals. I do not wish to accept a country within our country - one set of privileges for you if you happen to be Hispanic, and another set of rules and regulations if you are the rest of us.
Candidates: No one yet represents me. It seems that most of you have agreed on a plan for our country that I disagree with. I feel that I am not alone, for I am an American and I love the country of which I am a citizen.
Stop giving other nationalities OUR rights. Fix the trade agreements. Bring back jobs to America. Give American companies the encentives to stay here in America. Don't let insurance companies run the medical facilities. If you live here, speak English. Get insurance for your car. Kick out teachers in our higher education system that do not believe in America, or who teach our young people how to make bombs, and a hundred other things that we all know to be wrong. If you are a good teacher, then be one. If you are bad, go try to find work where you can find it elsewhere. No more retoric and broken promises, - if it sounded great during a campaign trail, then get the job done. I personally cann't help if there is global warming or not, but I would ask that we become a nation of caring about the earth, protecting the special places that still remain.
I hope Tom Tancredo wins, but if he doesn't I'd be tickled to call Fred Thompson, "Commander in Chief". The liberal news establishment is definitely out to destroy our country and the values it represents.
YUMA KID MY GOD , RHODA PERFECTLY WROTE WHAT MOST OF WE DISENCHANTED ONES BELIEVE. I AM SO SICK OF TOO MANY PEOPLE IN WASHINGTON FEEDING THEIR EGO AND NOT CARING WHAT HAPPENS TO THE COUNTRY. I LOVE THE USA. I DO NOT LIKE IT BECOMING BILINGUAL OR A HODGEPODGE OF PEOPLE WHO DO NOT GIVE A DAMN ABOUT BEING AN AMERICAN. IF THAT IS NOT WHY THEY ARE HERE, THEY JUST NEED TO GET THE HECK OUT. WHY IN THE DEVIL SHOULD WE TAKE MEXICO'S PROBLEMS?. IF THEY DON'T LIKE THEIR GOV'T. THEY SHOULD STAY HOME AND HAVE THEIR OWN REVOLUTION.
Your Poll seems to lead some certain questions in a way that a "reason why or why not" box should be available. How do I know if when I check the box that I think obama will be voted in won't be used to say "He wants this guy" or "see, there's another one for him"? Do you know what I mean?
I should be able to give a reason why I think he will. And the reason for that is simple. He is black, and that in my mind would be the only reason he would get votes. The same goes for clinton, she is a woman, and that in my opinion is the only reason she will get votes. People now days seem to vote for the wrong reasons.

Have you ever stopped to think, and forgot to start again? Nevada (Reno)
As it stands today, no candidate in either party, but especially in the Socialist (I mean Democrat) Party has the necessary qualifications to lead this country in this day and age.
And none of them cares a whit about what is good for America and not just their particular party. I will say however, that Ron Paul leads the whole bunch by more than a mile. But he doesn't stand a chance of being elected because he is a supporter of the Constitution and a libertarian. (I wouldn't vote for him due to his libertarian views which contradict my religious principles and values.)
We don't have another Reagan in the least but we do have a list of socialists who want nothing more than to rewrite the Constitution to serve their destructive ideologies.
I think that unless someone else enters the race it is going to be between HITLERy and Rudy, both of whom care nothing about standing up for the major principles of a democratic republic founded upon Christian principles. They are both in it for the power and the glory. Which means we can expect sodomite marriage, promotion and glorification of every other act against Nature, a greater redistribution of wealth (except theirs) to fund more failed government programs and give lazy union members jobs, destroy our soverignty, favor criminals and illegal aliens above everyone (except the sodomites and perverts in Hollywood and elsewhere) and generally destroy traditional morality, true liberty and freedom and make us a third world country.
I'm 100% behind Representative Dr. Ron Paul of Texas. He is committed to stop in illegal immigration flood into this country and steer the government back toward complying with the United States Constitution. Dr. Paul has integrity and political courage and explains his positions articulately. His foundation is the Constitution and his goals of liberty, responsibility, respect, and national independence resonate with the best American traditions. No other politician in the country has so consistently voted against the various "free trade" agreements sapping our industrial strength and jeopardizing our independence, against authoritarian incursions against the citizens' rights, and against bloated, ever-expanding government floating on a sea of debt to countries like China and Japan. He has opposed the military adventurism that has depleted the strength of our armed forces and made our nation scorned by others. He is the "Mr. Smith" who has gone to Washington and his voice is the clarion call of what the people really want: open, honest, thrifty government in defense of liberty and justice.
I'm hoping that Fred Thompson decides to run for the Republican nomination. Seems like they have little to offer, so far and I won't vote for any of the Democrats in the running.I want a President that supports the will of the people. Keep uo the good work, Grassfire. You are doing so much to promote the wishes of the American people. Thank you for all your good work.
Ron Paul is the man for the job. He is NOT a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, does NOT believe in amnesty, does NOT hand away his Constitutional authority to the Dictator branch of federal government in order to enforce the resolutions of an unelected body of corrupt foreign leaders.
He is a Constitutionalist, and he's the only one talking about the REAL issues such as our nations sovereignty (soon to be destroyed by the NAU if a globalist is elected), and our monetary policy (which fiat-based fractional reserve banking by the Federal Reserve is the reason for our $10 TRILLION national debt).
I don't think anyone is going to be able to "buy" the upcoming election, even with the record amount of money being raised. I have begun to notice that more and more people, regardless of their beliefs or party affiliation, are beginning to think for themselves. Hillary has become so transparent, even to her staunchest supporters, that the money she is pouring into "acquiring" the presidency would be better spent helping the the people she claims she wants to help. I am also getting the feeling that there well may be a huge swing to old core conservative values as events in the next couple of years will convince more Americans that it is the only way to save our nation. Someone must emerge who will lead this country based on what the majority of the people want: not what he or she thinks is right or what appears to be politically correct. We, as a group, have teeth and we can't continue to allow the tail to wag the dog.
"A long habit of not thinking a thing wrong, gives it a superficial appearance of being right, and raises at first a formidable outcry in defense of custom." Thomas Paine
It's way past time for a third party to be fully integrated into our politcal system. I don't think there is but a handful of people in the government (including the unelected government) that isn't corrupted by power and hidden agenda. It's amazing how quickly they forget that the constitution protects us from the government, and the rule of law. Also it needs to be repeated over and over so that they don't forget, we are a Republic, not a Democrocy!
History all but says this is going to happen. It's called the "Sixth Party system" that we will soon enter into. If there have been five before us, are we really that arrogant to think that the Demopublican party will last?
I predict that the sixth party system will feature 3 parties that are rather equal in size, and a fourth party that's smaller but will be larger than the Libertarian party is today.
We will essentially have the following splits.....
Democrats -> 1.) Socialists OR 2.) Interventionists (centrists)
One could also argue that the highly fascist wing would of the GOP would combine with the socialists of the DP. That would be more like a fasco-socialist party. There would be a HUGE revival in federalism amongst the Constitutionalists. Oh I can't wait for the fifth party system to end if this were the case!! :)
Not sure what a 4th party would consist of though. Perhaps the more traditional part of the LP would form into a party that's based solely on anarcho-capitalism, though that in itself is contradictory to them forming a party.
Perhaps it would simply be the 3rd parties and the 4th parties would be very minor.
Fred Thompson is the most "presidential" candidate out there right now. I truely hope he runs. He has the experience, and the demeanor to run this country effectively. He is real tell it like it is guy, and he doesn't blow smoke up your dress like Hillary Rotten Clinton.
I, too, see no candidate looming on the horizon who will be what we all want in a President. My best hope for the future lies in Fred Thompson. May God help us all. Please pray for our country and for our future.
I was a Democrat for most of my 49 years. I thought Harry Truman was a great President because he stood up to the mainstream and did what he thought was best for America. I've come to learn that even "Give em Hell Harry" was a part of the bigger scheme of things. But then came Clinton. The man that never met a woman he wouldn't love to love. Since Clinton, I voted for GW. Where has that got us? Bush never met a terrorist he wouldn't love to use as the mortal enemy. America's mortal enemy may well be those whom profess to protect us.
I refuse to vote for anyone who has even dabbled in the Council on Foreign Relations. I was contacted by Congressman Hunters Campaign over this past weekend. I told the woman (who was very nice) that I will not vote for anyone whose name appears on the CFR. I asked her if she's even heard of the Elitest Club and of course she replied NO. She was of course looking for a donation. I refuse to give a dime to someone whose intentions are to follow this path to America's destruction.
We need to wake up and STOP this roller-coaster that's twisting and turning to the final point of no return. Remeber this, when the dust settles and we wake up to find that America is but a chapter in the HISTORY of mankind, we shall know that our elected officials did us in right under our noses. And we'll have no one else to blame but ourselves.
Clintons excuse for his pathetic behavior was women, Bush's excuse is his inept ability to find a peice of laungage that agrees with him. Both have been working against America. Both have succeeded and are doing their best to see that the Elitests win and America looses. Now, what are we going to do about them and their efforts? That is the 64 million dollar question.
God Bless the USA and all those who put themselves in harms way to protect and defend us!
I call myself Conservative Republican / Costitutionalist / Libertarian. I have been for as long As I can remember watching politics on TV. I was like 8 or 9 when Michael Dukakis and Gearge H. W. Bush were debating.
The current choices disgust me this time through. I wish I knew more about Mr. Thompson. He was alright as senator, but I hardly know anything about him and virtually nothing is said of him.
I am rather pessimistic about this. I think it is going to come down between Edwars and Guiliani. I am fond of neither. If Mrs Bill Clinton (A Limbaughism there) makes it then it will be Mrs. Bill Clinton vs Guiliani and let's face it, what is the difference? I mean really. The only difference is that Guilliani is male. But they are really the same all the way around.
I am steadily becoming disgruntled with the politicians going center and I might even consider a third party this time through.
For me, the only person worth voting for is Fred Thompson. I understanding that there has been a lot of buzz about him lately but after hearing him on the radio, reading his blogs, and seeing him in interviews he truly embodies the Regan Principles. As a conservative first and a Republican second we need a President that will secure the border, protect the 2nd Amendment, create a fair/flat tax, allow for private social security accounts, support the war on terror, and appoint strict Constitutionalist judges.
I am looking forward to seeing the results of the survey.
The perfect ticket for the republicans would be Fred Thompson for president and Condi Rice for VP. That combo could blow Hillary and Obama out of the water.
