I am a middle aged RN with very good clerical skills. I have been working with H1B Visa nurses for the last 18 months and it has been hell.
So far in the last 18 months I have lost jobs in Jan. 2006, April 2006, and December 2006. I have left jobs in Sept. 2006 and Feb. 2007 due to treatment that was so horrendous I would be instantly recognizable if it was posted, and I would be blacklisted even worse than I might be now.
In my defense, the companies I worked for have easily proveable problems. If anyone wants to talk to me about a job, even a temporary job, I can give them links online that will show them where the problems are with my past employers. There is a link between the job I lost in Dec. 2006 and the rest of the jobs. One of the links is H1B Visa nurses.
One thing that keeps me going is that at one past job, I was able to work long enough to get some retirement money saved. I am still too young to touch any of the money without a huge penalty, but I can see that life won't always be this hard and I have earned a light at the end of this tunnel. That is, if my retirement funds are safe, which I hope they are. The retirement money job was a great one, but due to immigration, the rules changed, not just for me, but for everyone. I am still at that job, part time, but if I can't jump through the PC hoops, I can't go full time.
I have been in the workplace since 1974 and have NEVER, in the last 33 years of working, had this much trouble holding a job. My personal life is going pretty well and if I didn't have to pay my bills I would be fine. Overall, I am happy, but I am just very scared about money.
Can someone please help me? I don't need benefits; I would rather pursue them on my own. I just want to work, and to get some good references, not references where I have been literally pushed around by nurses from other countries who tell me where to go & how to get there.
Move out here to CA. The unions own the state so no one gets fired. And if you can land a government job, you will be fully paid for the rest of your life, probably double. Then if you get hurt on the job, you can sue the state for something-or-other & collect even more money! Come-on out here & do like everybody else!!
