Officials from the U.S., Canada, and Mexico met on June 15, 2006 to start the North American Competitiveness (NACC). The U.S. Chamber of Copmmerce and the Council of the Americas agreed to lead this "U.S. Secretariat".  A small list of the participating corporations include Campbell Soup Co., Chevron, FedEx, UPS, General Electric, General Motors, Merck, etc....... They have joined in an attempt to dissolve America's sovereignty.

They released a 32 page report with recommendations for the "harmonization" of Mexico, Canada, and the U.S.. Most of these recommendations require participants to "comply" with NAFTA.  Some of these include:

                 1) Examine the existing consultative forums such as the NAFTA Technical Working Groups to determine whether these groups can be reenergized to deliver concrete results on regulatory issues.

                  2) Work towards acceptance of equivalent standards, objectives, surveillance, and enforcement.

                  3) Fully implement NAFTA Chapter 9 rules on the recognition of testing and certification bodies that perform conformity assessments standards.

                   4) We recommend that the trhee countries establish a NAFTA regulatory and standards committee to survey the variety of standards and regulatory differences that impede trade.....

                    5) Work towards a common scientific approach for food labels among all three NAFTA partners.

                     6) Make compatible regulatory criteria as it relates to animal health and eliminate the need for additional export criteria among the NAFTA countries. {lower our standards}.

                     7) Fully implement NAFTA's trucking provisions for access and investment.

                      8) Delays add to freight transportation costs and threaten to diminaish NAFTA's true potential.

More companies participating in this backdoor attack on our sovereignty can be found at www.jbs.org/node/2386.

These multi-million dollar corporations are using our dollars to sell us out. Become an enlightened consumer and citizen.

Jason,

Thanks for the post.  For the patriotic consumers amongst us I think we truly need to define "American" in the Buy American phrase.

Buying North American is not my idea of buying American.

We need the FairTax Act to pass NOW.  Perhaps than we might see some competition sprout up in American designed and manufactured automobiles.

There is absolutely NO INCENTIVE for new market entrants to the automobile industry when we have the highest corporate tax rate in the world, and our automotive exports are not competitive anyway else in the world due to the high embedded costs of our tax code and compliance.  Not to mention our socialist union laws, and our the regulations placed on automobile manufacturers in the U.S.  Neither of which are present in anywhere near the same level in Japan.

Ever think about how all of these car companies used to be separate companies but they are now all either owned by Ford or GM?
