Making it illegal to sell a gun to a suspected terrorist sounds like a great idea. However the suspected terrorist list names my 78 year old mother and a friend's 4 year old son. They have to get clearance from the FBI to fly and now their right to buy a gun is also being threatened. Because they are on the "suspected terrorist list" , a new law may summarily deny them the right to buy a gun.

Because the "list " includes those "suspected" it has the names of thousands of Americans suspected by the FBI, CIA, Homeland Security et al for a variety of suspicious reasons and rarely has names taken off of the "list". And then there are the thousands of Americans who just have names that are the SAME as someone on the list. This list is already a nightmare situation and we do not want it affecting any of our citizen's rights.

The NRA is fighting this one ! The President is leaning toward and the MEDIA is pushing for its passage. Another fight to the finish !

Well with the way we chat here, we are all most likely going to end up on this list.

LIVE FREE & SPEAK FREE !!

My question to everyone, is there anything & I mean anything that you as a person an indivisual should not be able to speak? There is only one answer. (NO!!) it is all about common sense. Those who says yes, or hesitate have lost their way.

I bet Ted Kennedy has the list on his wall..........or maybe on Nancy "stretch" Pelosi's........doubt any of us would ever see it until we go to buy a gun and find out we are banned for one reason or another.

Ok, I'm in the People's Republic of CA.  If someone would be denied anywhere, it's here.  I need another 1 anyway.  I'm thinking about a 1911.  Any input?

And make sure you buy plenty of ammo.

I was on an FBI list according to a local lady who worked for them. I had her son in Explorer Scouts. When she found that I was the post leader she asked a state police detective if he knew me and was it okay for her son to be in my post. The dectective, who works cold cases, said he laughed at her and gave her assurance I was okay for her son to be around.

This all stemmed from a letter I had written to a local paper in which I stated I was offended by homos and religions other than the one this country was founded on. Morris Dees of the Southern Poverty Law Center has a publication of some kind in which I was named. The article accused me of being a member of a small rural church in whose doors I have never entered. I think I made the list because I was invited to speak to a group had read of my no nonsense approach to the politically correct. Our police department used to get the publication. It has something to do with hate. I think is called "Hate Watch". Anyway the chief walked into my office and laid it on my desk. He smiled and said, "You might be interested in one of these articles cause you're in it." Bingo! I was in it alright. I didn't know that standing up for moral issues made one a terrorist.

I guess they were profiling me. I thought they didn't agree with that. Guess it is okay to profile white, Christian, conservative, gun owning, US Constitution supporting males however.

I hope the guy tailing me, if there is one, likes going to church functions three of four times a week, volunteering time for youth, and occassionally busting caps back in the woods outside of hunting season. Otherwise he's got a dull assignment. Not that I loose any sleep over it or am parnoid but when your name turns up in Morris Dees trash you got to wonder.

The list is not available, but try to fly and you will know if you are ON the LIST. But read:

Interesting last paragraph about "once you are on the list, seems no means to get off the list."  Also  read:

I make my weekly trips to Wal Mart & stock up.  I try to buy about 600 rds & usually use 200--300.  How stupid is it that they want us so unprotected that they've even outlawed bullet-proof vests!!!

NRA's letter to Gonzales:

If you do not contact your legislator's about this, demanding that they oppose it, you are consciously giving up your Second Amendment rights!

Fight this thing, damn it - head on and using the system! Pete

This is the FAX I've sent to both of my States' Senators (find yours here: http://www.theorator.com/senate.html ) -

=================================================

AGAINST the “Denying Firearms and Explosives to Dangerous Terrorists Act of 2007” ! (S.1237)

This proposed “Act” - regardless of its’ high-falutin’, dripping-with-FALSE- patriotism name – would be a total disaster for the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and law-abiding American citizens wishing to purchase a firearm.

The bottom line on this bill is that it allows the Attorney General – any Attorney General, present or future – to arbitrarily deny someone the RIGHT to purchase a firearm.

It would totally supplant local and State government authority in these matters; be subject to caprice, whim, prejudice and be basically in-effective in accomplishing its’ stated purpose (because weapons and explosives can be brought in from outside the country, or be stolen here).

“Watch Lists” are notoriously in-accurate, vague and nearly impossible to correct once someone’s name is out there in one – denying someones’ RIGHT to purchase a firearm based on such a list is ILLEGAL, as it totally bypasses “due process”.

I ask and expect you to fight passage of this measure with all the means at your disposal.

This proposed measure is nothing less than yet another thinly-disguised attempt at illegally trying to bypass our Second Amendments rights.

Do not let this “Act” pass.

We are too smart to fall for the "jingo-ism" and the fear-mongering anymore.

(Signed)
