I've heard this before that the Fairness Doctrine could eliminate conservative talk hosts.  George Soros has way too much power over the media anyway and he is behind this.  Wouldn't this hurt the Air America crowd too, though?

They really don't want to corner Savage.  That guy is like a rabid pit bull on steroids.  He will rip these leftist socialists a new azzhole.  George Soros can't control the media and this guy is on Savage's hit list.

Soros what a role model for the left. He was a Nazi collaborator during World War II, helping the Nazi move fellow Jews in to concentration camps. This is the darling of the Liberals. How sad....

Oh yeah. I remember a thing called free speech. It was back when the Muslims could call you a pig, the queers could call you a biggot, and you couldn't defend youself because the manner in which you replied could COST you everything. It's only free from one side of the isle.

People have always killed the messenger when they didn't like the message. Since the elites have been unable to control all aspects of the media, they will continue to go after the forums where common people can be heard. Talk radio is just such a powerful forum and will be a target by those imposing tyranny on us.

SUPPORT FREE SPEECH--FIGHT THE "FAIRNESS" DOCTRINE BY SUPPORTING BROADCAST FREEDOM BILLS H.R. 2905 and S. 1742

Some congressional leaders have suggested reinstating the former "Fairness Doctrine," where the FCC could have the power to sanction or even shut down radio stations that do not satisfy a vague standard of giving enough time to both sides of controversial subjects. The "Fairness Doctrine" is anything but fair-- it is really a vicious form of censorship.

Currently, bills H.R. 2905 and S. 1742, sponsored respectively by Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN), Senators John Thune (R-SD) and Norm Coleman (R-MN), prohibits the FCC from reinstating the “Fairness Doctrine,” which was in effect until 1987 when the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) withdrew it. At that time even the FCC found that the “Fairness Doctrine” had the effect of stifling open discussion of issues and could lead to abusive enforcement by government officials, so the FCC dropped it.

H.R. 2905, "Broadcaster Freedom Act of 2007," is a bill that will uphold the freedoms of speech and free exercise of religion over the broadcasting airways.

S. 1742 would preemptively prevent the FCC from shackling broadcasters with the so-called “Fairness Doctrine,” a federal rule that would regulate the content of programming on controversial issues.

http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/D...

It is crucially important for free speech and our political freedoms that we all support congressional bills H.R. 2905 and S. 1742 for Broadcast Freedom.

Please, I urge you to contact your representatives and senators to support these bills.

Also, please see my petition on the grassfire website.

The Battle for Talk Radio:
Powerful Foes Want to End the Gabfest

The 2008 election has yet to be decided, but one thing is clear: If the Democrats win the White House, expect an all-out attack on talk radio. Political talk, as we know it, could end.

If they win, Rush, Imus, Savage, Beck, and dozens of other major hosts will be muzzled by using federal regulations to control political talk.

So, what's their plan of attack?

As Newsmax magazine reveals in its just-released special report, "The Battle for Talk Radio," leading liberals in Congress, the Democratic presidential candidates, and even some Republicans speak openly of their plans to end conservative talk radio using federal regulations.

Their weapon: a revived Fairness Doctrine, which would once again require stations to air divergent points of view — a clever ruse that makes station owners leery of airing controversial talk-radio hosts fearing law suits and federal sanctions.

With a new Fairness Doctrine, you could see many top conservative radio hosts canned.

This Newsmax special report also features an exclusive interview with Fox News host Bill O'Reilly who tells Newsmax there is no question a plan is being hatched. "The far-left kooks will try, but they will fail," O'Reilly says.

I just signed a petition opposing the so-called "Fairness Doctrine"
and similar efforts to silence conservative leaders like Rush Limbaugh,
Mark Levin and Sean Hannity.

Now I understand that liberal leaders are blocking an effort to
protect the rights of conservatives.

Please join me in signing this petition:
