VA Tech Officials Praised Defeat of Student Self-Defense Proposal in 2006

"I'm sure the university community is appreciative of the General Assembly's actions," Hincker said on Jan. 31, 2006, "because this will help parents, students, faculty and visitors feel safe on our campus."

First let me say my heart goes out to the grieving families.  This in itself is one incident where many have been slain by a lone gunman who chose his time to strike mutilple targets. Yearly in places with strick gun control such as our nation's capitol people are killed by CRIMINALS using all types of weapons. But as they are stretched out over a period of time they don't make headlines. Only those crimes commited with firearms are news worthy to the liberal media especially when they involve certain guns and individuals.

As a cop I feel pretty safe in my off-duty time but I still remain armed. I don't depend on the guys who are on duty at the time to protect me. They are reactionary, after the fact. I strongly encourage citizens to arm themselves even moreso today with the open borders, moral decay, and clouds of a terrorist act looming on the horizan.

Contrary to what the world, the liberal media, and our ememies might say in criticism about us being a renegade nation of gun totting cowboys. Get over it, keep your own back porch covered, and don't tell us how not to remain free and independant. This is America and yes we are a bunch of gun totting FREE people because of it.

96Harley, same here, I keep my weapon on me at all times. Being a former police officer, I know I could not be everywhere & at all locations to help everyone in need, you must take it upon yourself to protect yourself.

I agree with both of you.  I'm have been a police officer in Los Angeles for over 10 years.  I for one always carry my firearm off duty.  You never know when trouble will find you.  I'm a S_ _ t magnet as it is when I am working.  I have a wife (also a police officer, who can take care of herself) and 2 kids to worry about.  I do feel that these gun ban bills ultimately do nothing but help the criminal.  Now I do believe that we must be careful as to who carries.  I don't think a lot of people truly think about the responsiblities of carring or deploying their firearm.  Once that round leaves the chanber there are no do overs or taking it back.  Sure people shokld be able to carry, but there should have to prove some sort of proficency with it or they could become as dangerous as the would be attacker.

I don't have a firearm because I am a law abiding citizen and I am not allowed to!The NY legislature has seen to it that no honest citizen  can protect himself!Myself and my family are actually defenseless.I dont think anyone will ever break into my house and hurt my family ,but if it ever did happen and the guy was armed we are in trouble!I am a former Marine,trained martial artist and a pretty big guy,but against a gun I am pretty helpless,Maybe if I need help Chucky Schumer or Hillary Clinton will come to save us but I doubt it! .Any state that still has second amendment rights had better fight to keep them! I may be moving ther in the future!

Darren77th, You nailed it on the head, I know training is a must with anything we do. This should include some sort of test before breeding as well, if we stop the stupid people from having more stupid people we will at some point in time recover.

You are soooooo right.  Its not the gun thats the problem its the person with the gun.

As far as breeding is concearned, if you cant finacial support of are not educated enough you should have kids.

Tom Dooley - Isn't it nice that your Legislature would have the right to tell the citizens of NY that they don't  have the right to own a firearm because it's dangerous?  Tell me are there any criminals in your city that kill with guns?  What kind of weapons are you allowed to own?  This is a crock that needs to be turned around!  You're citizens need to get a petition up and present it the NRA asking them to help you get that law turned around.  What ever it takes is what you need to do to protect your families now and in the future!  I have a feeling you will need it in the future.  Demand your second amendment rights be returned to you!

lady jane we are allowed to carry a knife provided the blade is less than for inches,you cannot carry a stun gun,pepper spray or anything that is perceived as a weapon.If you are caught with an unlicenced firearm it is a minimum of one year in prison(all handguns are unlicenced in NY).You can be a child rapist and there is no minimum sentence,unbelievable!

   The Second Amendment is a Bible to some of us. Without it we will become slaves. At this time we are only INDENTURED SlAVES! Indentured to the people we elect, the media, the courts that now legislate God out of our lives. We have speech Gods who tell us, ( if you are White ) what is ok to say in this country. (Jackson and Sharpton) to name a couple! They put on people who change their names to revert back or spring into our midst. Heraldo Revera or Bill Richardson.

   With the tragedy at VT, we all can reflect on what is important in life.  The media, just a few days ago, wanted NO FREE SPEECH! Fire IMUS! All I heard was NAPPIE HEADED HO"S. Doesn't sound so bad today after the VT. slaughter, does it? How about putting the Duke players in prison anyway, just to appease the Black community.  Not so important to appease them today. Why is it not a big, damn deal to the media flunkies today?

     As far as I am concerned, let us put the blame where it belongs. Where you ask? I'll tell you. Then you can tell me and then , if you have the guts, tell the people in Office! That's right. I blame them. Why? Who wrote the laws? I have to pass a background check, wait three days and let the Federal Bureau of Idiots say if I can own a gun. I am not a felon, I am an American, for Gods sake. I can't buy my wife a stun gun. In the  city of gun laws and many others, I have to get a license to use a nail gun. You didn't know that did you?  New York.

      What background check does the Occupiers from Mexico or the students we bring in for a free ED. or the guest workers have to pass? None. How could they ever do that or why. I say no amnesty, no free ed. no more visas till we end the war on TERROR. No one or nothing gets in here without a FULL BACK GROUND check!!!

Well....I know you're a Yankee and I'm sure I'm breaking some sort of Texas Code of Ethics by saying this but............

Texas is pretty damned good about our guns.  Plus, the weather is much nicer here.
