Here's some humble pie for Al Gore and the Enviro-nazis. A study of ice cores reveals that earth warming/cooling trends of 1,000 years coincide quite nicely with measurable sunspot activity. And, lo and behold, sunspot activity is currently at a peak.

While the Gorbites call for a shutdown of our economy in the name of "global climate change," we may want to consider the major role the sun just might be playing in all this, and how little control we really have.

Excerpts below and link to full BBC story:

Scientists based at the Institute for Astronomy in Zurich used ice cores from Greenland to construct a picture of our star's activity in the past.

They say that over the last century the number of sunspots rose at the same time that the Earth's climate became steadily warmer.

...But the most striking feature, he says, is that looking at the past 1,150 years the Sun has never been as active as it has been during the past 60 years.

Over the past few hundred years, there has been a steady increase in the numbers of sunspots, a trend that has accelerated in the past century, just at the time when the Earth has been getting warmer.

The data suggests that changing solar activity is influencing in some way the global climate causing the world to get warmer.

Well, how surprising!  Imagine that---the SUN causes global warming.  On the video, The Great Global Warming Swindle, that is the conclusion the scientists came to also.  The sun, together with the clouds (vapor) creates the heat.  CO2 is caused by warming,  it doesn't cause the warming.

Algore's a fool.

FireWing, you're right. I'm watching that video and we need to get this on U.S. TV.

I heard somebody arguing the global warming issue by saying the ocean's water levels are raising because the ice caps are melting.

Water expands when it freezes and contracts when it turns to liquid.  So wouldn't the water levels go DOWN if the ice was melting?
