Fred Thompson Starts Campaign Effort

Former Sen. Fred Thompson has begun assembling the core of a campaign team in preparation for a possible run for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008.

While the "Law & Order” actor has not decided whether he will run or not, "he is getting more serious every day,” an adviser told The Politico.

"He is now starting to talk to people to really calibrate what it would take to run a successful campaign. He’s talking to some of the top unaligned strategists and fund-raisers.”

Thompson – who did not seek re-election as a senator from Tennessee in 2002 – has also met with major Republican players who work for other presidential campaigns, sources told The Politico.

Thompson placed third among Republicans in a recent USA Today/Gallup poll, garnering 12 percent of the vote behind former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani and Sen. John McCain from Arizona. It was the first Gallup poll taken after Thompson announced on March 11 that he may run for the White House.

Advisers say Thompson has been encouraged by the response at a time when many conservative Republicans are unhappy with the GOP front-runners for 2008.

Syndicated columnist Robert D. Novak said last week that Thompson is "the talk of GOP political circles.”

It seems that Fred Thompson intends to announce and run.  I think he's been politically smart to wait to announce.  He's been able to see what the field of competitors looks like and what they have to say.  My take on his decision to run is that he is tempering it with staying out if he thinks he isn't needed.  If he thinks the Republican Party needs him in order to win he will announce and run hard to win.  And he has had to consider his own health and how it would affect his campaign.  That doesn't seem to be an issue with his supporters.  And he and his doctor says it wouldn't keep him from running and serving.

I hope he does intend to announce and to run a vigorous campaign.  If he does he'll have my support.

I think FDT will run for President.  There is no one on the Republicans side that is Presidential.  Rudy G is good on terrorism, but his stance on abortion as me worried.  Looks like he (Rudy G) is playing the on the fence.  He just to liberal for me.  He and Mitt R need to take a more conservative role.

I don't care much for Fred, but if you're gonna run, RUN ALREADY! He has a good chance and he is losing his chance the longer he waits. He is also holding everyone else back by not making a decision.

I am just one that really wants Fred Thompson to announce and get on with campaigning. I'm eager for it to happen. I want him out there dispelling the right wing conspiracy buffs for their nonsensical claims regarding his membership in the CFR and saying it has to mean that he is a globalist in the sense of wanting to usher in a single world government. There is for a fact a global conspiracy which is actually going on and will come to fruition but these silly theorists don't understand that it will not come to reality because of the CFR or any man-made organization.

The one world government they fear cannot be stopped. It is Biblically prophesied and it is spiritual in nature. It is part and parcel to the temporally never ending war between God and Satan for the hearts, minds, souls and allegiances of members of mankind's men and women. And it will be manifested with a single world government and a visible rule and during its existence (which will be short lived) the paramount issue of all times will be finally decided and concluded with a war ending in a final division of mankind into two eternal camps of the saved and unsaved (who sadly join Satan and his demonic angels in Hell).

Somehow, I sense that there are many others who feel likewise and are excited about the prospects of Mr. Thompson becoming our country's next president.

America First -

I would be delighted in One World Government under Christ... but unfortunately, we're getting something much more sinister.  The motivations are preservation of wealth and power... Do Not Pray to False Idols.   The Industrial Revolution is over in USA, it has spread and is in India and China.  Now those privaledged in Our Country want to again make profit there.  They are INSATIABLE.  Our country is being dissolved, and Immigration is now needed to keep their plan afloat.

I wish what you said was the case.  Please don't let them exploit your faith for the one us lowly earthdwellers are creating.

I'm only saying that I agree that their is an evil and sinister and wicked one world earthly government on the way but it won't arrive through the efforts and schemes of any of mankind's members.  Satan will set it up and Christ will return and destroy it.  He's made that promise to His elect.  After that one world earthly government is in fact destroyed and the whole universe witnesses its destruction then Christ's Eternal Rule will be universally revealed and those called of Him and incorporated into His Kingdom as His Holy Bride will rejoice for a never ending eternity of One Single Universal Sovereign Government which He will Rule as KING.

If you and I will only persevere until our individual deaths in Him we will collectively delight in our citizenship within His Sinless, Holy, Righteous, and Eternal Kingdom.  Thankfully if we are Christians the Holy Spirit will continue to serve as our Guide and Advocate so we will indeed persevere.

But it most certainly will. The Ant-Christ, himself, will be a man - flesh and blood. “Our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers”. This is the case from a shop lifter to an adulterer, from rapists to murderers, terrorists, and all the Sodom Hussein’s of the world. All these battles are spiritual in nature - manifesting themselves through people - through flesh and blood.

You also said there’s nothing we can do to stop it, and even if that were the case, we should still do the right thing. But there most certainly is something we can do about it:

Matthew 24: 20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day.

2 Chronicles:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Both of these verses (and there are others) imply that we do have some influence on when these things will take place.

Luke 19: 11 And as they heard these things, he added and spake a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear. 12 He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return. 13 And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.

The word “occupy” means to “take care of business“. And note that the disciples believed that the Kingdom of God was about to appear any moment (much like most of us do now) but it never did. So, I don’t think it’s wise to presume too much, because we just might be wrong. Our primary focus is to occupy or take care of business until Jesus’ return.

Our founders sought to take “care of business” and beat back imperialist Great Brittan. Had they not done so, global governance may have succeeded at that time. The notion there is nothing WE can do to stop it is completely false. Through Jesus Christ, we are SONS of the Living God and have been given authority over principalities and powers. And our prayers, faith, and works all mean something to Him.

Knowing the Anti-Christ, will at some point, preside over a global government means that we ought to do our best to stop it. Will the Lord grant us success? I personally think He will, but even if He doesn’t, we are to occupy - we’re to do the right thing regardless of the outcome.

I know a lot of people who thought Bill Clinton was the Anti-Christ. He is a smooth talker also.

Fred Thompson is toooo moderate on too many issues for me.  I can separate the tv charactor from the candidate.  A lot of people won't.  If he does win the nomination he will be viewed as the lesser of evils by most conservatives and they will not vote.

I am more concerned about getting the House and Senate cleaned up.

The more interest develops around Fred Thompson, the more the nay-sayers (read: liberals) are now resorting to attacks on his wife since they can't find much to pin on Fred.  Just a few examples from an AOL message board:

- he's an old viagra riddled man

- his wife must have had a boob job

- his wife is a mere child (gosh, I swore I read she was 40 something!)

- his wife wears her dresses too low cut

- foreign dignitaries wives like to share intelligent conversation at state dinners and she is obviously too blonde to be up to the task

-she's a blonde bimbo with no class

- Fred robbed the cradle

- Fred had an identity crisis so got himself a child bride

- Fred only got a trophy wife because she wanted to get into Hollywood and saw him as a pathway to get into movies

Mind you, all these comments come from the very same peope who if you say "Hillary has fat thighs" go into conniption fits saying it's a typical "republipunk" thing to do - attacking someones looks!  (More of that double standard, do what we say, not what we do crap!)

I believe the way you do America First.  Prophecy will happen and we can't stop it.  We should resist but resist what?  The best I can do is to refuse to vote for an Athiest or a Muslim for President or any other government office. We can be a Godfearing nation and postpone it but we can't stop prophecy.

We should live our lives the way Christians should live them and have faith, same as it's always been. We should witness and teach others about Christ.  People forget that it's not all about us, Americans.  Sure, we have evil.  Evil is everywhere but look at the Middle East.  Look at Europe.  Look at China.  Look at North Korea.  That is what we will become in the future if we "don't humble ourselves before God".  Even humbling ourselves before God won't stop Bible prophecy.  We aren't supposed to witness only in our own backyard.  We should be a witness to other countries that are not Godfearing countries.  Americans weren't the only ones created in HIS image.  HE doesn't only love us.  People need to keep that in mind.

There have been suspected anti-Christs all my life.  People thought the end times were happening during every world war we ever had.  I remember my grandmother telling me that during World War 1 and II, they always thought the world was ending and Jesus was coming any day.  My grandfather went to bed everynight and told us "goodbye" instead of "goodnight" because he said it was time for Jesus to come back.  He lived to be 90 something and has been dead 20 years and here I sit.  I do think we are much closer now though.  I remember my grandmother telling me that when the government came out with social security numbers that they thought it might be the mark of the beast.  When we got debit cards people thought it was the mark of the beast.  Now we have the threat of a national ID.  Who knows?  People do not know when the time will arrive and we are not meant to know.   We are told to watch for false prophets.  From what I've been taught, the anti-Christ will be somebody that is a master at fooling people and appears trustworthy.  Look how Bush fooled all of us.  I think Christians (real Christians) will know the difference but if you believe in every conspiracy that comes along, you won't know the truth when you see it.    You can't reason or disprove conspiracies.  You can't prove them wrong because they are totally fiction except in the mind of the people that believe them.  All it takes is one credible person to say "what if" or "I think" and it snowballs from there.  Next thing you know nobody really knows where it started.  Conspiracies are also started by people with an agenda, political or religious.  They know there are gullible people out there that will perpetuate the conspiracy and keep it going in order to unknowingly help the agenda.

I do not believe in the CFR conspiracy.  I know Fred is not a one worlder.  The CFR is supposed to be a secret society according to the conspiracists.  Well, I've never been able to tell one person a secret and have it remain a secret.  How do you tell 4000 people (more or less) secrets and expect them to keep the cat in the bag?  It's ridiculous.   I think they are exactly what they say they are.  That does not mean that I don't believe the one world government is in the works.  Bible prophecy says it is but I'm not giving the CFR credit for it.  I think Fred is the best man for the job and that is how I will vote.  He's moral, he's intelligent, he's not a career politician, and he has the best interest of the country on his agenda.  He is a Christian but is not running his campaign on "look at me, I'm an Evangelical" the way Bush did.  I won't trust anybody that does that again.  BTW, I'm a Southern Baptist and I'm considered an Evangelical but there are a lot of good Christian people out there that are not Evangelicals.   Fred will appeal to people of all faiths.

The only reason I wish Fred would get out of the CFR is because of the dark cloud caused by conspiracists, not because I think it's a terrible thing.  Personally, I like having him on the inside of the CFR to keep an eye on things and to be a conservative voice during whatever they do.

Everything I find says Fred joined the CFR in 2002.  If that's the case, he didn't join until the year he quit politics.  Wink  If he was a member before that, I haven't found it.

I was following Thompson just to get a feel for his views in the event my choice, Tancredo, doesn't make it. Could care less about opinions on his wife.....but all that changed when he enlisted Dick Cheneys daughter to work on this campaign.....BIG deal breaker for me... Same with Romney when he said Jeb Bush would make a good running mate

I will not vote for anyone that has ties to the current or previous administrations...we need a clean break....

All I am saying Patsy is that why even post that junk.  People who get into politics have always tried to smear other people.  Why give glory to people who want to attack?  It is not worth it Patsy.  If you want Fred to win it is better to post good things about Fred.  Don't give  the time of day to idiots like this Patsy.   People who don't like Fred and need to call them names are not worth it.

Sorry, if I offended you!

You didn't offend me, heartfor.  My purpose in posting the comments was merely to give a heads up to Fred supporters so they (and I) can have our "defense" and snappy retorts, if you will, to the moronic comments and arrows that will be coming from the other side.  Indeed they are moronic, but that is some of the ammo they will be using.  My posting the stuff was not in any way to endorse them, and I apologize if that is how you took it.  Forewarned is forearmed!
