Check this article out and read the trash spin the Pro-illegals are spewing to disarm us off our stand.

Only 200-1 called or responded to the call that NUMBERSUSA put out, down from the 400-1 response by us last year.

Is what this article saying true?  Come on...IS IT?  Where was our support today and why were our numbers so low in support of the call from NUMBERS USA.

We all talk tough against illegal immigration, and think this is an issue that is gaining in public awareness and outrage, but is the PRO-ILLEGAL spin workin on us.  ARe we backing down off our stand?

WE better the hell NOT BE!  Tell me we're not!!!

Immigration Overhaul Proponents Express Optimism About Bill's Prospects This Year

Representatives of organized labor, business, Latino, and conservative organizations March 9 expressed optimism that Congress will pass a comprehensive immigration bill this year that combines stricter border enforcement with a path toward legalization for current undocumented foreign workers.

During a teleconference sponsored by the National Immigration Forum, several speakers suggested public sentiment has shifted from anger to a more pragmatic viewpoint that Congress needs to do something now to fix a broken immigration system. They added that the "A word"--the prospect of "amnesty" for about 12 million illegal immigrants--has lost much of its political sting and that a bipartisan bill must include some process for such individuals to remain in the United States legally.

Frank Sharry, the executive director of the National Immigration Forum, who moderated the discussion, said the "fundamentals" for enacting comprehensive immigration legislation "have never been better" given public pressure, congressional willingness to act, and both parties' awareness of the political benefits of successful legislation. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has vowed to bring a bill to the Senate floor this spring, and "we're optimistic the House will move with the same dispatch," Sharry said.

Cecilia Munoz, senior vice president of the National Council of LaRaza, noted that the council had representatives from 32 states lobbying Congress this week on immigration and "it's hard to overstate the level of energy and enthusiasm." She added that both parties have a stake in a more successful outcome than in 2006, when the Senate and House passed divergent immigration bills and no conference committee was convened.

The Democrats feel pressure to show "they can deliver legislation that the country is demanding" while Republicans are fighting for "the soul of the party" and the votes of a growing Latino electorate, Munoz said. When some Republicans sought to ride voters' perceived anti-immigrant sentiment to victory in the 2006 election, Munoz said, "they overwhelmingly failed."

Craig Regelbrugge, senior director of government relations for the American Nursery and Landscape Association, said the business community's level of concern and engagement on the issue is "escalating rapidly." "Everyone in business understands the demographics that worker shortages are with us and are only going to get worse," he said.

Some growers experienced labor shortages of up to 30 percent last year and some were forced to abandon crops in the field, Regelbrugge said. "The concern is that this time around we need to get it right," he said, explaining that the 1986 immigration law "failed to recognize the long-term economic needs of business."

Business is seeking "expanded legal channels" for foreign workers "to come here for extended periods or even permanently," Regelbrugge said. He added that in contrast to last year, immigration reform proponents are seeing members of Congress "from all over the political spectrum" acknowledge that "we need to do something that goes beyond border enforcement."

Tom Snyder, the national political director of UNITE HERE, said the message from organized labor and the public is that "the status quo is intolerable," and "it's time for Congress to get it done." As the other speakers did, Snyder asserted all signs indicate "there's never been a better time" for enacting immigration reform. He added, however, that "the clock is ticking, and Congress needs to get rolling."

Tamar Jacoby, a self-described Republican who is a senior fellow with the Manhattan Institute in New York, said it was striking that speakers from across the political spectrum were "all saying exactly the same thing, if in slightly different keys."

She commented that although "the political temptations are going to be strong" to derail an immigration bill as the 2008 election looms, there are strong, countervailing public pressures to "get it done" in 2007. Recent surveys show "a whole new mood" regarding immigration, indicating "less anger" among the public and more of a "pragmatic" sense of "how are we going to solve this," Jacoby said.

The secret to a successful package will be "finding the sweet spot" that attracts the 20 Republican senators and 40 Republican House members needed to pass a bill, Jacoby said. She acknowledged there will be some resistance in Congress but suggested "politicians are going to respond" when the public demands action and the issue becomes how to shape legislation that is definitely moving forward.

Asked to identify the potential "sweet spot," Jacoby replied that rather than last year's debate about "how many hoops" an undocumented worker must jump through to achieve legal status, now it will be "is the enforcement provision going to work?" The legislative goal must be to "go from a system where illegality is the norm to a system where people abide by the rules," she said.

Jacoby said last year's Senate-passed bill provides the "architecture" for comprehensive legislation but that "operational" details need to be ironed out. "Some of the vileness and silliness is draining out of the debate," she said.

Snyder, of UNITE HERE, said he is "not concerned" that no bill has yet been introduced because "a healthy process" is occurring behind the scenes. Congressional leaders are working to ensure the Senate bill "moves more smoothly" once it is introduced and to avoid the rancorous debate of last year, Snyder said.

Asked about potential differences between the legislation currently being drafted by Sens. Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.) and John McCain (R-Ariz.) and last year's Senate bill, Sharry said sponsors are looking for "a bill that moves forward" and can garner large bipartisan support. That means "stronger and more targeted enforcement procedures" and a practical system for legalizing undocumented workers, Sharry said.

Accepting that people who currently are illegally in the United States are going to stay here, Sharry said, the key question becomes what the requirements are going to be. He said congressional sponsors are working to improve the bill in that regard.

Agreeing with Sharry, Jacoby reiterated that surveys show the public wants pragmatic solutions and is less concerned with getting tough on illegal immigrants who are already here. "Even the 'A word' is losing some of its sting," Jacoby said, referring to some politicians' past denunciations of amnesty for illegal immigrants.

Asked about the refusal of administration officials to endorse a "path to citizenship" for foreign workers in testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Munoz acknowledged it was confusing and that her group was trying to clarify White House intentions. She added, however, that President Bush has always supported a "path to citizenship" when he discusses the issue.

"Most of us feel that without a path to citizenship, there can't be a deal," said Snyder of UNITE HERE. Sharry remarked that some congressional Republicans have signaled that "temporary workers are fine but citizenship is a problem" but he added, "I don't think that's sustainable."

Sharry said he has never seen the administration "more engaged" than in recent weeks on immigration and that "there's no question the White House is starting to weigh in" on a "consistent and persistent" basis. He said Commerce Secretary Carlos M. Gutierrez and Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff "have been working the Hill," developing responses to congressional Republicans' concerns. "They're working to deliver Republicans," Sharry said. "We'll see if it bears fruit."

As for timing, Sharry said that once the Senate bill is introduced, Judiciary Committee hearings could take place in late March or soon after the Easter recess, and Reid could bring the measure to the floor in late April or May. Sponsors are "trying to make sure they come out with a bill that permits quick action once they do so," Sharry said.

Jacoby added that congressional sponsors and the administration want to "work out some of the partisan stuff earlier" and spare Congress the "ugly stuff" that characterized last year's debates.

Asked if the "touch-back" requirement in last year's bill for undocumented workers would survive as a necessary step for legalization, two speakers expressed doubt that it would. Munoz said she doubts whether "something that harsh" really delivers Republican votes for an immigration bill or makes the public "more confident" about the immigration system.

On that score, Jacoby added that opinion research indicates many people are confused by the notion that undocumented foreigners would have to leave the United States and than re-enter. Rather, the sentiment among many survey respondents was if you're going to let them stay, then let them stay, Jacoby said.

Speakers suggested recent Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids on employers using illegal immigrants send a mixed message. While Jacoby thought the stepped-up enforcement is "helpful" because it gives the public the sense that government is serious about enforcing immigration laws, Munoz said the "human cost"--particularly on children of arrested workers--demonstrates the degree to which the system is broken. She added that it makes people in the Latino community "question the sincerity" of administration statements about the value of immigrants.

never fear, our government is busy behind the scenes to pass bills to help these  poor illegals out. I posted this article I found on the LaRaza web site on another thread. This was released March 7th

Washington, DC – The National Council of La Raza (NCLR), the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the U.S., applauds the introduction today of the “Citizenship Promotion Act of 2007 ” by Senators Barack Obama (D-IL), Robert Menendez (D-NJ), Ken Salazar (D-CO), and Jeff Bingaman (D-NM) and Representatives Luis Gutierrez (D-IL), Jan Schakowsky (D-IL), Mike Honda (D-CA), Neil Abercrombie (D-HI), Hilda Solis (D-CA), Ed Pastor (D-AZ), and Raul Grijalva (D-AZ).

“Promoting citizenship must be a priority for the United States. Citizenship is the key to fulfilling the American Dream and full participation in our democracy,” stated Janet Murguía, NCLR President and CEO. “We need to do everything possible to ensure that all eligible legal immigrants have fair and equal access to the citizenship process, and we applaud Senator Obama and Representative Gutierrez for their leadership on this important issue.”

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) recently announced that it would be raising the application fees for naturalization applications and other immigration benefits by a significant amount, with some fees more than doubling.

“These fee increases and other measures are placing clear and unwarranted obstacles in front of legal immigrants eager and ready to become U.S. citizens. We ought to be promoting citizenship, not making it more difficult,” continued Murguía.

The “Citizenship Promotion Act of 2007” would encourage naturalization, maintain naturalization fees at their current level, allow Congress to appropriate funds for USCIS to improve its infrastructure, create a National Citizenship Promotion Program, reduce the amount of time applicants must wait for background checks to be completed, and ensure that naturalization applicants will not be forced to use expensive electronic filing systems. NCLR will work with coalition partners throughout the country to promote passage of the “Citizenship Promotion Act” this year.

LaRaza...there is nothing bad enough that can happento these...I don't even know what to call them anymore...criminals is just not strong enough.  Demonic is closer, maybe Satanic is closer.

They represent everything that this country does not.  They are criminals, every one of them and support, defend and protect criminal behavior.

They are not grateful for the opportunities and support America has offered them to accomplish their American dream, they want to destroy us and ethnic cleanse us out of existence.

They lie and spin the truth to meet their agenda and do it blatently and openly without reserve or remorse, or consequence, or conscience.  They are sociopaths of the most nefarious kind.  Arrogant narcicisstic sociopaths...that they know the truth from their lies, but revel in the fact that they are getting away with the lies and love it.

The fact is they are enjoying the thought that they are destroying us and our nation.  Come on people, where were you today in this battle?

This cannot be the forcast of what's to come, if we are going to win this battle.  Our numbers should have been 600-1.  They should be going up, not down.

I feel your pain about La Raza or should I say the Race. They have headquarters in Gaithersburg, MD. And that is the hell hole state I live in. I am south of Gaithersburg! Of course so they can buy every greasy politician out there. They certainly bought all of Maryland's politicians that is for sure!

You stated that you did not know what to call them anymore. I do!

What La Raza is: A Terrorist Organization.

Why? Because they called an act of war on the United States when they marched in our streets in Southern California and protested. A La Raza spokes person said, “This is our country and we are here to take it back!” White Supremacists, KKK Racists, Bigots go back to Europe. They waved the Mexican flag not the US Flag. They claimed NO ALLEGINECE to the Untied States that day by doing what they did. On top of it our flag was hung upside down and underneath of Mexico’s flag.

I can not seem to understand for the politicians that are supporting illegal immigrants, including American’s Liberal’s and the like – If they saw this protest which I am sure they did – Why weren’t all of the politicians and all of congress and the President of the United States outraged by this? WHY?

You would think they would have been. They should have immediately dispatched the armed guard, rounded all of them up that day and deported all of them! Including any anchor babies with them.

That was an act of war and as a Nation, Americans were insulted, slapped in the face, spit on as a result and when we spoke about it the media and La Raza, LULAC and illegal immigrant supporters called us racists and bigots! Excuse me!

Watched C-Span this evening.  House representitives gave some powerful arguements reguarding illegals.  They cited the fact that CA spends $400mil per year on anchor babies and the free care of delivery.  Then the parents, of course,  are eligble for welfare to care for the child.   The welfare portion will need to be stopped in five years,, if I understood this right, because of funds.  If we cut out all these programs in every state, look at all the savings we'd have each year.  Bank of America got slammed, too.  It appears they are trying to close that loophole that allows issuance of credit cards.  Chain migration was another topic --needs to be stopped.  I called the White House 3 times today while watching Bush and the Mexican pres--the more I watched, the madder I got.

What do you think Homeland security is doing? Picking buggers with one hand scratching their butts with the other and then switching every once in a while. What would you expect with someone named Comrade Chertoff as the head of it. This entire government complex is dead set on the destruction of our way of life, and all this crap started because of immigration issues. Folks it is going to end because of immigration issues as well. There is going to be another attack by terrorist and they will come from across the southern border into this country or the government will give them visas just because we don't want to hurt their feelings. Why does the government continue to issue visas to persons that come from middle eastern countries.

THANK YOU, Blaze. I have been saying since 911 that terrorists are wandering back and forth across our southern border at will.

Last April, Border Patrol caught a group in the southern Chiricahua Mtns. All had freshly cut hair, trimmed mustaches, new clothes and shoes. All had money in their pockets and new backpacks.

Half the group escaped. I don't recall how many but it was a sizeable number.

None spoke Spanish. They were all Arabs.

The point I'm making is.....if you wanted to get something into this country, what better way than to go in a large group? Have it planned that if BP finds you, those with the stuff run and the others surrender. Three or four border patrolmen can only control so many, even if they are passive. So, what were the ones that got away carrying? Hopefully, I'm wrong and they had nothing, but...........

I read the above in a couple of different S Arizona papers last year. The Border Patrol agents were mentioned anonymously, since they were 'advised' not to mention it to the press. I don't know if it's true or not, but it was in two different papers.

I'll state emphatically that there are dozens, maybe hundreds of terrorists in this country right now, just waiting for the word to act.

I hope the people will never give up on this issue of illegal.

Myself and some other forum members were wondering if anyone out there knows how to form a National organization where we could contribute and elect representatives to take petitions to Washington.   We were wondering also if we could find an attorney that would sue the government for abusing our civil rights.  When they treat illegals better than the citizens I think this is abuse of our civil rights.

If anyone hasn't read the message about the North American Trade Union please go to www.stopthenorthamericanunion.com .  Boy, you talk about scary but I'm afraid it might be the truth.  This is another thing we have got to start demanding our representatives vote against.

If anyone has any ideas what we can do please advise.

All of you, PLEASE, PLEASE, PALEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZZZZZZZZZZZZZZE, DO NOT believe what you read about our movement or progress in the main scream media.  Their job is to try to collect evidence that appears to support the viewpoints that they want to promote.  That, & making billions of dollars are their ONLY objectives.  They are against us in this fight as is our own government.  They both would have the public beleive that last week's failed amnesty bill was close to passage.
